QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Feb 3, 2008 -> 01:41 PM) ] The best case scenario: Crede shines in spring training... So does Danks or Floyd and we package them both in a deal to San Fran for Cain.. it will most likely cost Danks because of his young age and upside.. If the Giants are desperate for a 3B like many out there say im sure they would consider pulling the trigger. That would leave us a stong 1-2-3 with Buerhle, Vaz, and Cain and it would put even less pressure on Floyd and Contreras on the bottom half. If you were a GM, would you trade one of the best young starters in the game, and your future Ace for many years for a future back of the rotation starter and a rent a 3B that isnt much of an improvement over the player you just let sign with another team. I sure as s*** wouldnt.

If all the players in the old days were drunkin assholes, I wonder why anyone would follow the sport.

How could you rank Young, who has been not great at the plate, and also mention Pie who is god awful. Millege is better than Pie. -

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) at the least i think the young guys have shown something this year. now, there's no question they are not top-notch freshmen and i don't expect any of them to be leaving early. but, i think they are the types of kids a program needs--kids who stick around and provide the consistency and continuity you need. the best part is that when the real good recruits start arriving in 09, they'll be joining a team that doesn't need them to be saviors. they'll be joining and experienced and seasoned group that has a lot of big ten basketball under its belt. experience and outstanding talent is a great combination. I was actually having this debate the other day. Is it better for your program to stay away from the top talent guys that leave after a year and focus more on building and developing a system with a team instead of having to regroup every year because your lineup goes pro? I have specifically looked at my team of course, but I wonder about other programs. -
Trade Uribe to BAL - sign Corey Patterson

QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) ARod is a lot different than Brian Roberts. Baltimore actually wants to deal Roberts and he has been in trade rumors recently with players similar to what was offered there in my trade offer. The Orioles have no decent SS since they dealt Tejada and they'd need a 2B after dealing Roberts. Danks is as good if not better than most of the jokers on their 40 man that pitch. And he's as good as Sean Marshall etc., that the Cubs were offering. Certainly if they are dealing away Bedard for Jones, Sherrill etc. that this offer would at least be looked at. Add Broadway. Add Shelby (dad ex-Oriole). I dunno. Danks is extremely more valuable than Marshall. -
AD, those are adorable. Faces look much like my little rascal.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) Yeah I want to trade my life for someone else's just for the things left behind when they die. For me it's about the experiences, not the legacy. And winning a major tournament can't touch a super bowl championship with a 20-foot pole Yeah, comparing 1 major championship to a superbowl probably isnt a good comparison. Of course after 10 years when you are in the ESPN booth reminiscing about that title, Tiger will still be winning, and winning, and winning. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) #10 QB in the nation commits to Duke, http://northcarolina.scout.com/a.z?s=78&am...amp;nid=2789796 Seriously. He's a heck of a pick-up. I don't even have a joke to make about it. Pretty good considering the offers he received, Oregon State, ASU, Boise, Duke. I would def put Duke last on that list probably. -

Within 10 years, Brady will just be another memory of a past great QB, Tiger will still be playing and still beating dudes at a freaking leisure activity. Football vs Golf has ZERO to do with it for me. And if you want to talk Legacy, did people suddenly pick up football because Tom Brady hooked on with the Pats? Tiger Woods revolutionized golf, he changed the way people make courses, he raised interest level in kids, he put it back on TV listings, he changed the equipment, the apparel, the accepted attitude and the competitiveness of a sport. Tom Brady is a championship QB, but there were many before him, and many more after him. Tiger is possibly one of a kind, especially in this generation. THATS a legacy. -
Noah Lowry/Matt Cain (for some reason?)
RockRaines replied to DBAHO's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Cain and Lincesum are not coming here, in fact Lowry would be more than Crede is worth as well. Crede simply is not that great of a player and is basically the same as Feliz was for the Giants, with injury issues and as a rental. We would be lucky to take a bad contract off their hands like Durham's and MAYBE a lower level spect, plus some cash. Thats about all we can hope for. -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) I think another player will be acquired before the season starts that can leadoff. Probably not Roberts. My money is on Ray Ray, which sucks.

QUOTE(The Beast @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) What do you guys think will become of Uribe come Opening Day? 3 polishes, 2 pieces of pizza, elotes, and 1 pinch hit strikeout. -
I'm actually glad we didn't sign hunter.
-
Gio, DLS, Fields would be close IMO.
-
Somewhere Paul (flailing at changeups) Konerko, and Juan (cant hit anything in the dirt) Uribe are thanking their lucky stars.

Please god tell me the cubs will face Santana this season.
