  1. Wow, I guess I didnt realize until now that we added essential 2 40 hr guys and one 30 hr guy. Fields, Swish, and Quentin for a full season are going to put up huge numbers.
  2. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 11:52 AM) Semi-nude and kissing a photographer. http://britneybash.com/2008/01/07/britney_...g_santa_barbara that guy is gayer than a cucumber sandwich.
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) If true... two things... 1) What a terrible trade by the O's... 2) Could we not match that? Heres a thought. We could have beat that with Gio. Would our team be better if we made that trade instead of swish?
  4. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) O-O! Thats the new spelling.
  5. Damn SSI always beats me to it. Steve-o, ive been in your shoes before, I did basically a small boxers workout, I got a heavy bag at a second hand store for 50 bucks and a jump rope.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 12:48 AM) lol excuse Rock, he just upset his team has lot 3 straight championships ;p I would like to take a poll of who would actually LIKE their team to be in three straight championships and lose, its not all its cracked up to be.
  7. QUOTE(BureauEmployee171 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) I don't think the playoffs have really ANY determining factor on the GM. There is clearly an extreme amount of "luck" involved in short 5-7 game series where anything can happen. Look at the Tigers for example, or simply the 2006 Cardinals in general. They were a league average NL team that happened to win it all. Pure circumstance & luck is what gets playoff wins in most cases. Beane has made some extraordinary player personnel decisions and player development decisions - and a lot has to do with himself - and a lot has to do with the fact that he fired 90% of all his scouting system and simply hired on legitimate guys - not his friends to do the work. Extremely intelligent guy in terms of making money for himself (the more he wins & saves at the same time the better for him - as he is part owner of the franchise). Hes been blamed for completely crushing his minor league system the last several years, was that his fault or the guys he's hired?
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) FWIW 670 was basically supporting this on their 7:00 update. Saying that the O's want a lot for him, and for now there's nothing that close. duh, as much as cubs fans want, they cant make crappy trades happen. That package was about equal to Broadway, Richar, and Masset.
  9. QUOTE(The Beast @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 08:59 PM) Ann Arbor is a whore. Yes it is. And I was actually PISSED about trading Haigwood. I thought for sure he was money in the bank, guess not.
  10. QUOTE(A's fan @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) considering what we had in swish I dont like it. However I have all the faith in billy beane because hes a top 5 GM. Soon when cisco field opens up we'll be good and have money to actually sign FA's Are you the lone A's fan who actually LIKES the move to Fremont? Because just about every A's fan I have come into contact with in the Bay area HATES that move more than anything.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 08:40 PM) I hope that if we do get a playoff they go all the way and make it at least 8 teams. Have all 6 major conference champions and use the BCS formula to pick the two at large teams. Thats basically what they should do, but a 4 team is good enough for the beginning. It still may have ended up OSU v LSU though. One of the reasons that I like the playoff is that it gives teams at least one game to warm back up after the layoff.
  12. QUOTE(A's fan @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) LOL we'll see when the men of troy roll your team next season. Mark sanchez had never had any real PT and the garbag QB's efrom LSU have. USC would have rolled michigan as well Ah jesus, I like the fake screen name and profile, but NY guidos cant like USC and the A's as well.

Final bump for this season, check out the under and overachievers. I also liked my post in the middle about how overrated OSU was, prophetic I know.
  14. Maybe BP should have researched a bit more, Swish is FAR more deadly against LHP
  15. QUOTE(chisoxt @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) This doesn't even address an aging core of a slow-footed veteran lineup, and that after the Swisher deal we now have two left fielders to go along with our two shortstops and two third basemen. There are only 4 slow-footed vets on this team, I would say the core is now younger and more athletic, or older and quick (Ocab) Fields, Quentin, Swish, Richar, are young, athletic, and promising, couldnt you say thats our core as well?
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) Yes. Seconded, in fact I think they have potential to be better than that. Danks winning the #5 job last year spoke volumes to me about the type of pitcher he is, Floyd has the stuff and the ceiling to be a top of the rotation guy. I just hope they both continue development.
  17. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) Yeah, here are some of the early preseason rankings I've found. Rivals has USC #1, Georgia #2. Stewart Mandel of SI has Georgia 1, OSU 2. OSU should be right up there regardless of all of the "beatdown" articles writers are putting on the internet for attention today. They have only 3 seniors on the roster, and one of the top classes in the country coming in next year. If some of the juniors stay, they will be right on schedule to contend in 2008 like they were supposed to, if not there are replacements waiting in the wings, I actually think fr Sabino is going to end up being better than JL, Mike Adams should take Kirk Barton's spot on the line, and Posey should bring another WR to the mix.
  18. I wonder if Ozzie told Sweeney not to swing at those types of pitches when he was in the majors as well (wink wink).
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:50 PM) Absolutely but Todd Boeckman simply should not be the QB of a team in the NC game. He holds the ball way too long and makes awful decisions under pressure. Haven't been impressed with him at all regardless of what his numbers were. Another comment after watching tonights game, in this day an age your QB absolutely has to be mobile with the speed of a lot of these defenses (unless you just have overwhelming talent surrounding him like USC with Leinart). He played like a typical 1st year QB. Not great. They were here a year early, and I believe he is a platoon next season with Henton.
  20. Dammit. Roughing the punter, nice work boys. Overall about what I expected, not bad for a rebuilding year. Alot of bad plays in this game, LSU took advantage.
  21. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 06:30 PM) Let's place bets on actual time of kickoff, and final play. I've got 7:43 for start time and 11:51 for finish... why does it take so f***ing long?
  22. crush-pretty nice. The glads need some more practice though, they arent quite good at the events yet. And wolf is annoying.
