Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
RockRaines replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:07 PM) You won't get Bailey, but if you trade Gio, Aardsma, and Sweeney, you might get a have a chance for Hamilton. I was thinking Konerko+prospects actually though they have Votto and Cantu, like wishing on a star. I gotta say, we get Hamilton, we plug two holes, CF and leadoff -
Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) From ESPN... 9:52 p.m., from Jerry Crasnick • The Cubs don't have much hope of prying loose center fielder Josh Hamilton from Cincinnati. The Reds are willing to trade Hamilton, but they would prefer not to deal him to another club in the National League Central. Any chance the Sox take a shot at Hamilton for CF? I was thinking that to myself, what could we possibly package to get Hamilton and Homer Bailey? -
Holy crap. If we could just get Bill Hall I would be ecstatic
-
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) Can anyone come up with a deal in the past where a team gave up this type of prospect package? I know Cabrera is real good, and Willis is a good veteran pitcher... but what team could have come close to matching this offer. The Tigers blew every other deal out of the water. Yes, including other teams with much better minor league systems than ourselves.
-
Honestly, if we trade Paulie, I would want Kotchman and a younger pitching spect. That would be ideal for me.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) Come on, you know the last thing we need is a decrease in attendance, as it will lower our payroll. Maybe we can get it back near the range where we won the WS. I really dont care, ive been through it before. Its exactly whats going to happen if we rebuild, which most of us want.

Im going to make a thread: Did Kenny Williams miss the bus? Twice?

QUOTE(Chombi @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) Seriously. I don't mind everyone showing up and selling the thing out cuz thats fun. But if it's not a sell out and we aren't going to use that money then I'd like it to go back to the 03-04 days when I really started hitting the ballpark hard for about 20-30 games a year. Not many people ever there and casual strolls to the front row behind the right field tarp were easier then breathing. Thats what im saying. It would benefit us all. I like being able to move up. I enjoyed it in 05 actually.

Yes, less fans. Please all stay away from the Cell this year.
-
There are people out there that are upset about us not signing Hunter?
-
Ugh, no way we pull a regular player from the Brew Crew. Im sure its a middle prospect or a pen arm. If not, good for KW.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) As I said, I respect the Tigers for going for it all right now, but they are in trouble down the line, now more than ever. They have a very old core, and with the Flordia deal, they just traded basically all their replacements. Even if they sign Cabrera long term, they still are in trouble down the road. However if the can win the series in the next two years, it will be worth it. Of course if both Mcab and Dontrelle leave for free agency they get a min of 3 good draft picks.

Official 2007-08 College Basketball Thread
RockRaines replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(thedoctor @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) don't get me wrong. i'm not criticizing your enthusiasm. indiana clearly has a great team and some nice players. some perspective would be nice is all. from a basketball standpoint, there are more than a few teams that are much deeper and more well-rounded than indiana is, imo. The big ten is pretty weak this year. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:53 PM) The chances are great Minny makes the playoffs before the Sox. Minny making the playoffs and great shouldnt even be in the same post. They've lost a middle of the order hitter and their best player.

As an FYI, my friends dad coached Maybin when he was a kid and projected the kid as a future star. He is only 20 years old and a great acquisition for the marlins. And we can ALL thank UIC for producing Granderson which made Maybin expendable and brought about this trade. im going over to egg the campus later.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) Well if KW is 0-2 on the REAL 'big fish' who the hell is left? Frankly im really glad he didnt sign Hunter.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) Hopefully this shows Reinsdorf how to be an Owner, more than Williams how to GM Frankly it should set off moves in 1 of two directions. They will either go for it all and spend a ton of money on Jones and another arm, or completely start the revamp period by dealing Konerko etc. Frankly I think the team may be set albeit two small deals. Good for 3rd place in the division.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Is it possible the Tigers will be thinking about moving him back to C to compensate for when they let Pudge walk next offseason? Morosi said that Inge, thames and Durbin are available.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:31 PM) Like I said -- even if MLB suspends people based on the Mitchell Report, it's not like the Tigers are f***ed without Gary. And I don't know where you get whatever you're getting from Dyke, but Cowley sez: lol Dyke said it 5 min ago on chicago tribune live. He said they were never close, and looking at the "package" that Cowley presents, i agree with Van Dyke
-
And inge just ruined any trade value Crede had.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) He's got great sources. And re: steroids -- I just don't see the league taking all that much action or the union allowing it. Even without Sheffield for awhile, Detroit's offense is top-notch. Well, you dont see it, but ESPN does. For now I will consider them a little closer to the situation, though you ARE closer to the Eisenhower. Van Dyke also just said we are in on Jones. I fully expect us to take a run at him tonight.
-
Van Dyke from the tribune just reported that the Sox werent close on cabrera.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) Who gives a s*** if Sheffield is mentioned? He's already admitted it. Mentioning him wouldn't mean s***.
-
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) Tigers #1,3,7,11 Prospects it took for that deal.....and 5 pitchers? or was it 4, either way, ouch. They mortgaged alot of their future to make a run in the next two years, and its a good move. I still think Cabrera hits free agency.
-
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) Wow just got done reading the whole thread and this makes me sick!! We have no chance at competing with the Tigers and Indians next year.. And its not like the Twins got much worse with losing Hunter.. As it is right now we are the 4th place team in the division... Damn it sucks having one of the worse farm systems!! and Santana. But yes, Cle should be more worried about Det than we are. Of course that is barring any other moves.
