QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) Best player in the nation? Not sure, he's not the most talented. But he puts up the consistent numbers with leadership in generally 30 mpg or less. Tyler has put these numbers up against good competition as well with Davidson and BYU as well as not having his PG Ty Lawson much this year. If you want to give it to the more talented guys like Gordon, Beasley etc who get more P/T and more freedom that is fine. They are both going to put up monster numbers. Yes, hes a consistent big man in a good conference. But claiming him player of the year already like that is ridiculous. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) Averaging 23 and 9 for the #1-#2 ranked team doesn't get you into the top 10? You would consider him the best player in the country? There are prob 1-3 freshman that are better than him. He reminds me of another back to the basket Tar Heel, though a better scorer (dunker) -
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) Thanks for the advice Tex. I have looked at each one and wanted to see how they felt in my hand, but I didn't think about actually simulating talking on it. I can see where that would make a difference. Any other advice is greatly appreciated. I just got a new job and they made me buy a new blackberry (damn!!!) and I was assigned the blackberry curve. Pretty slick bb device. Best one yet. Im not used to the track ball yet, but its not too bad. Ive had the treos as well, both windows and Palm, they took forever to do anything and froze ALL the time.

Will the rebuilt Twins finish ahead of the goinforitall Sox?
RockRaines replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why is it that the Sox will be in trouble in 5-7 years and nobody else will? We have just as many if not more pitching prospects than the twins do, who knows what will pan out. -

Seriously Dickie V? Hansbrough player of the year? Im not sure id put him in the top ten. -
QUOTE(danman31 @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 12:37 PM) It's bad when I don't pick Missouri, but Ohio State fans need to shut up about being the best team or deserving to be there. Missouri beat Illinois on a neutral field and Ohio State lost to them at home. Deal with it. It doesn't matter though because if Missouri wins Saturday it would be impossible to say they don't deserve it because they'd have beaten everyone on their schedule. And those fans would be? 11-1 in the Big Ten is impressive, even with a bad game against Illinois.

IM expecting nothing less than a 20 point loss by OSU against UNC -
QUOTE(kwill @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) Does anyone find it interesting that the no trade clause was such a big deal for mark buehrle but when it came to linebrink they gave him one too. I think its pretty rediculous. Really? And what are the parameters of the no trade clause, please inform us all.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 06:41 PM) But they are far apart. Detroit scored 200 more runs than the Sox did last season. They've added a great bat in Renteria and while Ordonez and Granderson may see some regression, that will be balanced out by massive improvement in LF (just not having Monroe there will do wonders). Great bat? Not in the AL. A better bat than what they had? Sure. Also the Sox are going to put up more runs than they did last season. We arent the favorites in our division, but we sure as s*** arent the worst team, and will outproduce the twins who lost one of their best players and leader of the team. If they get rid of Santana, they will be even worse. -

Who exactly is going to pitch for the twins next year? Their lineup already took a huge hit offensively. I'd take our team over theirs in a heartbeat. Younger is not always better. -

Rebuilt how? They lost one of their best offensive weapons and are now trading young talent for young talent. -
Great article joe, I would have believed you if you didn't totally ruin your credibility by mentioning trading crede to colorado.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Remember who beat OSU though...the Illini's spread offense. And who destroyed them in the 4th quarter...a running QB. Look, Illinois is a WVU clone with talent that doesn't quite make it. Pat White and Steve Slaton are damn good and add in Noel Devine (if he can hold on to the ball) and you have a team that could give OSU fits. It would be a great matchup to see if Tressel's as good of a coach as people thinks he is. As people thinks he is? I would say his resume and ringS speak for themselves.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) Forget what Gio or DLS will become. Haren solidfies the rotation for 3 years. You are telling me, the Sox can't produce another Gio or DLS is the next 3 years? I would hope we can, or we have serious issues. Gio most likely will never be as good as Haren is, DLS has the CHANCE to be that good, but make no mistake, he isnt a 19 year old prodigy stud prospect who is already in the high levels of the minors, he is a project. You make this deal immediately if you have the chance.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 11:58 PM) Wow, i seriously would have given up an LZ state fball champ for an SIU win vs. USC tonight! That's how much this team means to me. I was VERY dissapointed in SIU's performance. USC was taken to the edge by my freakin Alma Mater, Miami U, that doesnt speak very highly of how good of a team they are. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 06:57 PM) Well I wouldn't say the probability of DLS panning out is "very slim". He doesn't have any major injury concerns, and he has the stuff to dominate, and he's got the numbers with those K/9 ratio's to prove that. Also you'd have to consider Haren's ERA would obviously increase moving from Oakland to the Cell. I don't know, maybe I'm too attached to our prospects, but we've been complaining for weeks, months and even years about how bad our farm system is. Trading our 2 or 3 best prospects, makes it that much worse, and that will hurt in the future. Yes and those numbers are in A ball, the chances of a pitcher making it from A ball to a dominant #1 pitcher in the major leagues is not very good. In Haren, you already have a legit top of the rotation guy, who has already proven he can pitch in the major, and the Al at that. Its an easy trigger to pull.
-
I'd take Haren over DLS. The probability of DLS panning out are very slim and Dan Haren emerged as a top of the rotation starter this year.

I hate horribly researched pot shots at kw. Hunter even said that part of kws sales pitch to him was bringing in o cab. Kw wasn't settling for anything in uribe.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) At least it shows the White Sox interest wasn't all for show. They really wanted the guy and almost had him. I hope not signing him will work out as well as not signing Vizquel and Wright in 2005. Basically they had him until the Angels decided to give him a horrendous contract. I like that Kenny was good in the negotiations and wasnt short bidding.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) What is the difference between a "smart phone" and a PDA? Smart phones are phones with PDA functionality. PDA is an old legacy name for the palm pilot-type devices.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 03:13 AM) Yeah, Illinois fans should be LSU fans for the same reason. Probably Va Tech fans as well. Not really. LSU wins and it doesnt move Illinois up to the Rose bowl, same with Vtech
