The best news in the world is that Eckstein is not close to a possibility.

QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) uribe was a top defensive SS, not as good as cabrera, but how many runs will orlando's new d save? If we get a leadoff hitter, fine. But I just can't see this being the right move for trading jon garland. It may not, but he is an upgrade defensively and offensively. There isnt one person in the world that doesnt think that this is a positional upgrade for the sox, that is an absolute no brainer.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 02:03 PM) That's if you decide to put yourself out there and to make your profile public and to let anyone post anything without reviewing it. People are stupid, if you use myspace the right way its a good way to keep up with friends. I agree, and frankly this wasnt Myspace's fault. The child shouldnt have been out there on a site like this is she was considered suicidal and anti-social.

QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) I give up. Jon Garland for a 33 year old waste of space. good lord we suck. Lets not get ahead of ourselves there. Hes a top defensive SS.

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) The salary saved by trading him is worth more than his value on the field. Richar is a better hitter. A platoon with Richar and Bourgeois is even better. Any Uribe superiority in defense at 2nd doesn't make up the difference, plus the asset of his arm is basically wasted there. Richar has tremendous range and upside. I would like that platoon as Bourgie hits for contact and OBP and Richar has power potential and speed.

The internet has changed typical schoolyard bullying into something that can reach masses. Anyone who was called a name back in the day knew that the kids at school were cruel, but could always start anew. Now thousands of people can see what people say about you, can see pictures of you. Its a horrible thing, but support systems at home need to step it up. Families and family time are not the same thing it used to be, and its sad.

I have the pleasure of having one of the more useless cars in the winter, and on top of it I have 19 inch summer only racing-type tires on my car. Because of this, I had to purchase snow tires and rims for the winter months. So far I havent had to put them on quite yet, but because of impending snow I will have them installed on my G35 tomorrow. Anyone else have to go through this hassle and does it make a huge difference?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) Did he mention a cash amount? Yes, he said I owe 364 for my next payment.

In other news, my ticket rep broke the trade to me immediately after it happened. I like this kid.

Ok so we deal Uribe to the carbs for a bag of balls. We net 1 draft pick, one bag of balls, and 10 million dollars.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) We were discussing that in the other thread - I don't think they have to yet. I think they are deciding, and honestly, I think it depends partially on what happens with Uribe. Uribe can play 3B, SS and 2B and hit with power. He is a somewhat ideal, though very expensive utility option.

QUOTE(striker62704 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 12:01 PM) Next Up: Sign Andruw Jones Trade for Crisp Trade Crede Sign/Trade for Reliever LF Crisp SS Cabrera DH Thome 1B Kornerko CF Jones RF Dye CA Pierzynski 3B Fields 2B Richar That could be a 250hr team. And we give up 6 runs per game.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) That does sound nice - $10M to play with. Trade Uribe for, really, anything prospect-wise, and put Bourgeois/Getz/Ozuna in the utility INF role. Then go play with that $10M. With this young rotation we are in need of an extremely solid bullpen. Either that or we are looking to take on salary from someone, or using it for Rowand.

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) Why did he HAVE to be traded? He was the most consistent pitcher we had. Our rotation sucks now. Three question marks, a piece of crap (Contreras), and our ace. Danks and Floyd should NOT be both in there - trade someone to get a good pitcher or two. Vaz isnt exactly a question mark, check again.

Well. We have saved ourselves at least 6 million bucks next season. Take uribe out of the lockeroom and we've saved about 10 million bucks.
-
one of the things that is being overlooked is the leadership qualities of O-cab. He is an energy guy and a leader. That is something that was lacking last season.

Angels board again.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 11:27 AM) There is a difference between winning a deal and f***ing someone over. Be in business for 25 years and you will see it for yourself. There is this animal called a win-win. I know it. But even in a win-win, someone is giving money to someone else, and someone if making money on that price. It may be a win-win overall, but overall, im making money.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) Does this move make us better at all? Defensively? Yes. IN the clubhouse? Yes. Offensively, yes?
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 11:25 AM) Yeah, the addition of Cabrera isn't a bad thing. Its only a question of the amount of return for Garland. Correct. I would have loved O-cab if it involved trading less proven commodities. The return seems terrible, but then again, Angels fans feel the same way.
