  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Please for God's sake...no more 3rd basemen! The discussion is going to begin and end with us asking for Bill Hall, you can bet on it.

  3. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) I agree because that was my initial reaction as well...great the one year we do get the #1 there isn't a Crosby or Ovechkin....damn though I am loving Kane and Toews. And Kaner is racking up points at a better rate than Crosby.
  4. Great Post steve. Nothing upset me more than losing Chris Chelios frankly, but Roenick was close.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) Having been to games at both stadiums, I'll never understand how anybody ever wins at LSU or Ohio State, and when you consider Zook has won at both stadiums against #1 teams (at eventual co-champ LSU in 2003 with Florida and yesterday of course), I give him a ton of credit. Illinois is going to be a problem for a while in the Big 10 though, Zook is building a team of all speed in a league that doesn't have teams with the personnel to handle it. Even Ohio State, at home, had problems with a Illinois roster that is still not nearly a finished product talentwise. They should continue their resurgence, but dont make the mistake of thinking that most of the Big Ten will stand put. OSU was rebuilding this year and still almost went unbeaten. Not to mention they are bringing in one of the top recruiting classes in the country next year, clearly their best since 2002. Put on top of that the 20 (without early jumps) returning starters for next years team, a QB entering his second season at the helm, and the insertion of several key players like Mr Ohio Brandon Saine who played a very small role this year due to injury. All over the Big Ten teams will be improving, and dont overlook one of the best young QB's in the country in Ann Arbor. The Big Ten is going to resurge as a whole, and frankly its going to make things VERY interesting the next several years, and its going to be very good to watch, but also may hurt the national championship hopes of many extremely talented teams because the Big Ten will beat up on each other frequently. This is also one of the reasons that I wish there was a Big Ten Conf Championship game. Its going to be a very interesting 2008 especially with OSU facing off vs USC the next two seasons.
  6. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 04:57 PM) He pitched well in Florida, and he began to suck when in NY, where you forget to point out he was injured. I'm not saying he's great, but I'd sign him to a minor league deal no problem. He has a reputation as someone who is lazy and got a large deal and didnt work to maintain himself. I would say he wont be back pitching in the majors succesfully maybe ever.
  7. QUOTE(BurlyMan56 @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) I would take Crawford over Cabrera any day. Give up the farm. Have you ever been in that situation where you really really really wanted to take back what you just said.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) Hell, I'd trade them 'RockRaines' if it would help. Throw in a 'witesoxfan' for good measure. I'd put the deal over the top.
  9. Ha! Ill give them Josh, Gio, Jerry, Nick and David. Go ahead take the whole bunch of them.
  10. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Nov 10, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) God i hate Illinois. Need to bounce back big time next week and DO WORK! I really don't think were the best team but i want to be in that title game! Ah, it wasnt supposed to even be a title contending year. Bringing back alot of guys, plus alot of impact freshman like Saine will be a year older.
  11. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) The whole thing about steroids not helping you hit the ball is such double talk. Nobody says that it does help you hit the ball (though I've seen and heard reports that HGH improves eyesight and hand/eye coordination). Steroids - and similar strength enhancers - give you added strength. So, the ball, when hit, goes farther. Say, for instance, taking steroids increased your power, and the ball, when hit, traveled 5% farther as a result of the added strength. Now, instead of having an easy 390 flyout to center field, the ball travels 410 feet. Is it unreasonable to think that's what happens when a player is "juiced?" An easy flyout becomes a homerun. Just use Barry Bonds as an example. Before 2001, he hit something like 3 HRs more than 450ft in his career. From 2001 on he's hit about 30 HRs more than 450ft. Coincidently, he has morphed from 200lb to 250lbs in that time. One of the biggest benefits for these guys who play 162 games a year is that the drugs help with your recovery time. I dont know if you or anyone has ever played in a very strenuous schedule like these guys do, but your body gets extremely sore, you get very simple injuries that linger, and you lose strength and stamina throughout each long stretch. Some steroids and HGH will help your body recover from the injuries faster and will keep your body in tune better. Hence some very consistently good seasons.
  12. I wouldnt mind taking a flier on Ray Durham, since SF wants to get rid of his bad contract, maybe they would want to take one of ours? Ray Ray can still put up a .350 OBP and can help out with the dev of Richar. Just a thought.
  13. Well, even if we lose to Michigan, im pretty happy with our performance this season during a rebuilding year. Not too many teams can graduate 8 first team all conference players and be back in the national title hunt. With 20 starters returning next season I would say we should be the favorite in the Big Ten and one of the favorites in the nation.
  14. Wow couldn't have gift wrapped that game for illinois any more than that. Way to overlook them and focus on next week guys, I hope you remember this next year. Guess big ten championship can be consolation prize.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) Its ridiculous because some teachers get paid over 100k while others get paid half of that or something. What they need to do is get rid of the fat paychecks and create a balance. I dont care how long a teacher has been working there they dont deserve over 100,000 Most teacher do not even sniff half of 100k, and many do not even sniff 100k. I have several teachers in my family working for over 30 years and have not even come close to that. Teachers are one of the most grossly underpaid professions on this earth. They are entrusted with the extremely important development of our children yet are paid less than someone like me who basically travels around the country talking for a living.
  16. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) you learn something new everyday. I think you will begin to see age take its toll on Soriano a bit earlier than you would expect, at his "age."
  17. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) ....if attitude means well above average offensive production and stellar defense at a premium defensive position. since when is .250 .300 .440 above avg production?
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 03:19 PM) Look, I make a lot of dumb arguments, I'm wrong a lot, and quite frankly I'm often an idiot. But the people who can possibly see this group of players winning a title, I honesty have no idea what games they watch. The fact this team is as good as they are every year is a testament to Skiles coaching skill over an 82 game season and the character of the players, but talent wins championships and the Bulls are nowhere near having enough of it. collectively they have plenty of talent without having a true go-to guy. And in all reality, they most likely wont win an NBA title. But they most definatley have the chance to make it to the finals. Last season if they get by Detroit, they go to the finals. Collectively they play defense as good if not better than most of the teams in the East. With Deng's development, Tyrus's apparent skill set evolving, and maybe another piece here or there, they could very well make a deep run into the playoffs. I understand that its easy to be extremely critical right now as they are starting out slow, but this team hasnt nearly lived up to the potential yet.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) If Fields will not play LF next year...then Crede has to go. Yup. There is no doubt that this is the scenario.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) And they'll lose again to Detroit or Boston in the semis this spring. People in Chicago accept the fact the Bulls are going to lose in the east semis every year though because they are high character and their GM hit a big shot in 1993 though, and that's sad. I wish Skiles had more talent to work with. And you base this on what? They gave detroit a good run last year, and should again be in the mix this year. In the playoffs all it takes it a streaky team, otherwise Cle wouldnt have nearly gone as far as they did. They shouldnt have even been close to the championship.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) Sweeney isn't too great either. No, but at least he has upside, Qualls pretty much is who he is.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) Your half right. It shows how great a job Skiles does that his teams are high character and get the most out of what they have. The fact that the most this team has though is somebody that loses in the 2nd round and can't win the east though shows how lousy a job Paxson does, the talent level here isn't that good. The lost to the Pistons who have one of the best start 5's in basketball.
