The question so obvious that noone thought to ask

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) Well... That worked well. Guess we shoulda taken Edwards eh? Ronnie Brown would have been a good pick too. -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) Couples Peeves. Couples who have to sit side by side in a booth, even though there is no one on the other side. Sorry SSI, I do that. I like to eat half of her meal, plus whisper about the funny s*** we hear other people talking about. I like your manhood peeves. I dont like the guy who is constantly wondering if his girlfriend is mad at him. Then he acts tough like he doesnt care, yet is seen running out of whereever he is 2 min later. How about the friend who gets a girlfriend and then you never see or hear from him until they break up.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) How much longer until Cabrera is a FA? He can't have more than a year or two left under team control/arbitration, no? 2 seasons I believe.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) Levine just stated that the White Sox are going to throw everything economically possible at Torii Hunter. Well, ok then. We better shed Contreras, Garland, etc

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) I really dont think the Sox are in a position to dictate the trade. DLS and Gio may turn out awesome, but they have done nothing at the MLB level. Cabrera is one of the top hitters in baseball already. Not to mention some of the other pitching spects being thrown around make DLS and Gio look really bad. And Miggy is 24 years old. Hes not even close to peaking.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) Like I said, the situations aren't really comparable. Sneaky bastard, hiding that comment under 52 quotes.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) Good to see you are carrying on the tradition. Let em eat some shoulder, especially if they are looking behind them or to the sides to say hi to another frat boy. People who have blind hate for people in fraternities.

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) serious question. There are offensive holes at LF, CF, SS and 2B. Even 3B/LF, as good as Josh has been, can he hit higher than .265 next year? can this team afford to have more than 1? Josh at .265 would thrill me, because most likely he will hit for power and walk at least a bit. But you are correct. At this point the most critical hole is at leadoff.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) You win this round... Not really. PODS was an injury risk, Uribe hasnt nearly missed as much time as PODS has. In Uribe we know we have a 150-160 game player at SS playing a a high level defensively. That is almost the opposite of PODS.
-
Barring an immediate trade, this was the only move they could make at this time. Otherwise we would have NO SS.

QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) You played football in Illinois, im not impressed in the least by that.. Ive seen Illinois high school football, I was born in Illinois so every time we go back for christmas I have caught a couple playoff games on TV up there, and its nothing compared to football down here. Nope sure didnt. I am well aware of the top football states in the country, Ohio, Fla Texas and California. Still doesnt change the fact that playing a few pickup games of basketball does not make you good enough to beat professionals. I play pickup games at Hoops the Gym. I am not nearly as good as most of the guys there and I played HS basketball against some pretty good competition. As far as hoops go, the Chicago area is one of the tops in the country, and no way could I hang with WNBA players. They would outright school me. -

Oh, so you played football. So you were better at football than basketball, did you play college football? So what did you do during bball season? I played three sports in HS and was still recruited by D1 schools. I dont buy it. You may be a good athlete as alot of us are, but there is still a huge gap between you as an athlete that played some HS sports, and a professional basketball player regardless of the sex. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StTKReuPSsY Tamika catchings alone would take you to the hole. Candace Parker of Naperville may even dunk on you. This girl is a 6'5" high schooler. -

QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 01:11 PM) You don't have to play basketball in college or high school to be good.. You guys can think whatever you want, thats cool with me, but we can play and especially against girls Usually when you are good, you play in high school or college. And you would have to be that good to beat a team of WNBA players. They arent like playing against the girls at the gym, they will school you. -
Ugh, I would hope this would mean that we wouldnt be looking at Eckstein. I think that there is still room for a trade for KW but he is keeping Uribe around to spell Crede, SS, and Richar.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 11:31 AM) Sex. PS: I just don't like the years for Hunter, either. Considering hes 32, gross. That lineup will strike out a bazillion times.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) I will wait and see what we do but I really don't like that. And I agree with you. im still wondering where we are going to find a lead off hitter? Stewart? What the hell are we going to do. With this happening our lineup sits at this: 1. Richar 2B 2. Fields LF 3. Thome Dh 4. Konerko 1B 5. Dye RF 6. Hunter CF 7. Crede 3B 8 AJP C 9 Uribe SS
-
Well I guess its under market value, but now we have to upgrade BIG at other positions and also find a lead off hitter somewhere else in the field. What it ALSO means is NO FREAKING ECKSTEIN!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!!

White Sox Fall/Winter League Discussion Thread

Has anyone else looked at the performance of other teams top prospects? -
QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) I appreciate the passion but don't understand the freakout. They really had no choice if they didn't trade for another SS. There was no viable in-house alternative. Its become obvious they really didnt have a choice. It dissapoints me that we couldnt work out a trade for someone like Furcal though.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 10:16 AM) he showed good poise in his September call up. ????????? He was never called up.

QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) Hmm, if I had to make a guess I would say I take about 150-200 shots a day and I don't play any regulation games but we play quite a bit of pick up games after we shoot around.. One of you played HS ball. Nobody played even a bit of college ball. Regardless of if you had other sports to play, if you were that good at bball, in THAT season, thats the sport you would have played. There is basically no sport competing with bball that would or should compete for any of your talents. In fact, im pretty sure a college team like UCONN or TENN would beat you as well. -

QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 08:18 AM) Guy didnt make an error all season...thats gotta count for something Not as much as you would think. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 09:21 AM) Cabrera for Kong (more or less)? I'm not so sure that's a bad thing. Miggy is already a better hitter than Konerko, so its not a bad thing at all. This article looks like a bunch of crap though, if FLA would take Gio, Broadway (who has zero value) and Fields for Miggy then they have some soul searching to do. Every one of the guys they asked for from the yankees is better than what we have.
