  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 09:52 PM) You all vastly underrate Joe. Hard to vastly underrate someone who will put up a .300 obp. Also Dbaho, come on, Jerry Owens is not even close to the player that Melky is. Especially defensively, not to mention offensively.
  2. Owens>Crisp Can we please drop it
  3. They just made him the official closer, then he becomes "hurt".
  4. I'd prefer 1. Furcal SS 2. Castillo 2B 3. Thome DH 4. Kong 1B 5. Dye RF 6. Fields LF 7. Hunter CF 8. AJP C 9. Crede 3B
  5. Also, I dont know about you guys, but I almost always find women in business attire who are assertive extremely more attractive than many of the "girls" I see out at the bars on the weekends.
  6. Frankly she is dressing alot more appropriate than several people in fields that I come in contact with. Shoot go check out the local pharma sales rep. Odds are it s beautiful woman with very nice assets that are clearly in view. She is dressing just the way that professional women dress. Of course the comments on the body are what makes this horribly wrong. I am in a technical field and let me tell you the absolute horrible things that come about when even a marginally attractive female comes into an office of mostly software programmers and salesmen. Wow. But it also works both ways. I personally am a salesmen to upper level executives and have been propositioned several times by female professionals that I meet both on sales calls and at trade shows. I have even run into a lady who suggested we sign the contract while skiing in Lake Tahoe. ( I may or may not have obliged) Fact is, its rampant everywhere, and the thicker skin you have the better, and although I am not condoning it, I think that sometimes for women, you have to try and make yourself look ugly to have anyone take you seriously, and that is a complete shot at the attitudes of men in business today.
  7. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) Shouldn't that be in green!? I have a lot of love for Al Jefferson, obviously... he is awesome. I agree, he is a good player, and what a great fit he would be on the bulls. As far as big men in the east though, my love is squarely for Dwight Howard.
  8. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) I'd trade anyone on the Bulls for Jefferson and that includes Deng... that should say something. nah, you never did have a nose for being an effective GM..........
  9. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) but he is 10 years younger than KG and comes with a much lower contract. The T-Wolves were going nowhere and getting him was a huge score for a player like KG. Not saying it wasnt. But I still dont think he will ever be as good as KG, who is a superstar.
  10. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) I highly disagree on Al Jefferson. He averaged 16 ppg, 11 rpg, and 1.5 bpg in his first season as a starter. I can definintely see those numbers going up to 25/15/2 this year as the sole offensive God of Minnesota. He's absolutely awesome. And he's only 22! Myself and many others dont see him being a superstar. He may very well be a good player, maybe even avg 20-10, but hes no replacement for KG.
  11. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) I don't really understand the level of excitement for Melky Cabrera and his .327 OBP and .718 OPS. He's a much better player for the Yankees because of their explosive lineup (i.e. they can afford to stick a s***ty hitter in the lineup). The trade doesn't do much for us, and the marginal improvement over Owens isn't worth Joe Crede. Hes a legit CF'er with a canon arm, who is only 23 years old and has shown that he can get on base (.340 career OBP) hit doubles and would be affordable. We have a young player (Fields) who can step in a 3B and Crede's back and .305 OBP hurts our offense. His BEST season he only had a .323 OBP.
  12. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) Kobe is more on the level of KG than he is on the level of AI. AI went for tablescraps... we know this. He also was not playing with the team and didn't play for 10 days. Kobe is willing to go out there and play, as was KG. The haul that the T-Wolves got for KG was quite good, including a great replacement in Al Jefferson whom they just signed to a 5 year extension. Now, that being said, the Bulls aren't offering garbage. A deal of Kirk, Tyrus, and Noah (or obviously one of the others that has been rumored sans the Ben Wallace one) are a decent haul for a team in such turmoil. However, the Lakers don't HAVE to trade Kobe, but it sure looks like they want to. I agree with you, but I wouldnt call Al Jefferson a GREAT replacement. He will be a good player, but will never be a star player. We are giving the Lakers 2 top draft picks in Thomas and Noah, and Ben Gordon who is already a prolific scorer. I would say its somewhat on par. Of course Kobe is alot younger than KG And with Pax's word, Kobe deal is dead. Close thread.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) Magic Johnson, a lot closer to the situation than any of us, and even closer than Dan Bernstein, floated the possibility of Kobe remaining with the Lakers and the Lakers improving their team. I think the desperation is very overrated, but we shall see. Besides, if he's so miserable there, the longer they wait, the greater the possibility he expands his landing spots, thus increasing the Lakers chances at a better package. I understand the logic, but based on the previous deals for superstars and what they landed for them, I think that the return isnt going to be everything the lakers want. But they need to cut payroll and bring in young talent and possibly additional draft picks.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) He's still the best player and biggest draw in the game. They don't have to trade him. Its not like the clock is ticking. If they improve their team, Buss and Kobe would kiss and make up in a heartbeat. I'm just one that doesn't see why the Lakers would be desperate. Because Kobe wants out, ownership wants him out, they dont get along, they refuse to put talent around him, and the team is going nowhere fast. I guess other than that they arent desperate.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 02:25 PM) Kobe opts out in 2 years, and if he wants to get paid, he's going to have to agree to a sign and trade. The Lakers are far from powerless here. They are completely powerless here. He wants out. This is not unlike the AI, Vince Carter and KG situation. We have all the leverage because we dont need to make this trade at all. The Lakers prob wont make the playoffs without rebuilding and gathering more talent. They are not in a position of strength at all. Heres chad ford's take
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) Ok well I'm picking Orlando to be top 4 in the East this season. The Dwight - Rashard combo looks good, very good. And Dwight's actually hitting his free throws now. That alone is worth an extra 4-5 points to the Magic from last season. When dont you pick them to be one of the best teams in the east? Homer!!!! On another note, AI looked beyond impressive last night. If that teams clicks, they will be VERY dangerous.
  17. I dont think Pax has been willing to deal Deng at all. I think that part of it is BS. Pax is too smart to give up his team for a single player. The bulls are in a position of power because we are one of the best teams in the east without making a single move. I think Pax is trying to leverage the desperation of LA by offering them less than people think. I can see it getting done with Gordon, Thomas, Noah, and a pick. Team who deal superstars out of necessity DO NOT get anything good in return. Its historically been more of an unload, just look at some of the past deals.
  18. QUOTE(KevinM @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) I'd take Betemit straight up for him and laugh all the way to the bank. Hell yeah. Who wouldnt?
  19. Melky would be awesome, but its too much to ask. It would have to be a lower level spect or someone with a contract like Damon. I say keep Crede.
  20. Crisp was a good LF'er and #2 hitter for the tribe a few years back. However I would rather have Jerry Owens at min that Coco.
  21. I took over some trick or treating last night and my dog (big ass rotty) was going crazy at the door bell all night. I let him out because I thought the trick or treating was over, and low and behold someone rings the doorbell. He charges at the door and absolutely scared the crap out of a group of about 5 teenagers. They must have thought cujo was coming to the door.
  22. Butterfingers and kit kats. Break me off a piece of that Chrysler Car.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 09:57 AM) It's to be expected, but the vibe around this team is terrible. As of right now, I have very little interest in this club, and its quite sad. If Eckstein is roaming SS with his horrid arm this next season, I will be selling more of my tickets than I usually do.
  24. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 04:02 AM) Our only "need" is to score more than they do. Tejada would help us score more than Furcal would. Furcal would keep them from scoring more than Tejada would. Each "fits", it's just a matter of trying to balance those two sides and the cost of acquiring them. We need defense and a lead off hitter. Furcal supplies both. Tejada would be a luxury a 3B, but he is no longer a SS.
