  1. I guess Im just going tohave to miss it then? Or can we move it a day or two?
  2. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 05:04 PM) Peter wont die because that he is gettomg scar that future Hiro was talking about when he visited Peter. Plus he has claires ability to heal himself. Peter is by far the coolest hero IMO. Is there any doubt that this is the best show on TV right now?
  3. Ridiculous episode. Those books in the basement of the shack would have been of serious help. The Chess game leading to a menu is really strange and it make you wonder why it was set up that way. Also why was this guy all the way out there, away from the actual village. Was it an outpost? Were they trying to get sat connections up? There are so many new questions. I never bought that he was the last remaining person from the Dharma initiative. Also I still think there are two groups of others on the island.
  4. Basically they were trying to stir things up. There was really no validity to what was said, plus phillips is a moron.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) I don't really think it's fair to judge a player that I really have only see take 4 or 5 AB's, but from the very little I have seen, and from all I hear, he projects alot closer to the 2006 Pods than the 2005 Pods. I have like his at bats, havent seen him field a ball yet.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) Agreed. I think KW is hoping that Pods is going to return to his pre 2005 ASB form, but I don't see that happening. ill bet on Pablo producing more than PODS this season.
  7. His arm motion really reminded me of Kenny Rogers and buehrle. I like his stuff.
  8. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) You forgot Bmac I have Jenks, Buehrle, AJP, and Fisk. So far so good.
  9. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 01:20 PM) That's of course ignoring the obvious that Buehrle is clearly the better pitcher. If for some reason the Sox are out of contention at the deadline, knock on wood, I would think a team like the Mets would give up a hell of a package for Garland seeing that it can be justified since Garland is locked in for 2008. I would have no qualms with a Garland trade whatsoever. (Note: This is only if Buehrle can be locked up, of course.) Thats what I was saying, if Buehrle is locked up, Garland immediately becomes the most tradeable pitcher due to his contract, his age, and his consistency. IN the NL garland might be closer to a sub 4 ERA that what he does in our division at our park.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 12:56 PM) Says who? He's pretty much an average pitcher who had one solid season, that's it. Jon is prime trade bait because he does have value because of his youth and we could probably get a top of the rotation return for a non top of the rotation starter. mmm hmm. If you lock up Buehrle, garland automatically becomes the top trade bait. Not to mention, I see how hes getting better by watching him, but pure stat heads are going to see that last year's numbers where the same as a couple of years ago, which doesnt suggest improvement.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 12:25 PM) *Sighs* when will people stop calling for our most consistent pitcher to get traded? Why do you think he would have trade value? He has alot of wins and appears consistent. Over their careers, Buehrle is our most consistently good pitcher. Keep in mind I am a huge Garland fan but Garland has just been consistently avg. He will give you an ERA round 4.5 200+ innings 100-120 k's. Garlands "Consistency" 2002 33 starts 192 IP 112 k's 12 wins 4.58 ERA 2003 32 starts 191 IP 108 k's 12 wins 4.51 ERA 2004 33 starts 217 IP 113 k's 12 wins 4.89 ERA 2005 32 starts 221 IP 115 k's 18 wins 3.50 ERA 2006 32 starts 211 IP 112 K's 18 wins 4.51 ERA not exactly an untouchable player to be traded. Buehrle is probably the most consistently good pitcher. 2001 32 starts 221 IP 126 k's 16 wins 3.29 ERA 2002 34 starts 239 IP 134 k's 19 wins 3.58 ERA 2003 35 starts 230 IP 119 k's 14 wins 4.14 ERA 2004 35 starts 245 IP 165 k's 16 wins 3.89 ERA 2005 33 starts 236 IP 149 k's 16 wins 3.12 ERA 2006 32 starts 204 IP 98 k's 12 wins 4.99 ERA
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) Jon Garland is only signed through the end of 2008. Jose Contreras is signed through the end of 2009. Both would be potential trade candidates at the end of 2007 if there was an extension struck with Buehrle (assuming good performance by our young guys). Garland should be a decent trade candidate. He is young, has wins under his belt, and has been shopped before.
  13. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) 4/52 is a true meet in the middle offer, and if we can get Buehrle to ink at that, then there should be absolutely no hesitation. I know that 4th year will make JR cry to himself at night, but sometimes, you just gotta forget that Jamie Navarro ever existed. Hahahah. Plus that becomes an extremely movable contract if need be anyway.
  14. QUOTE(rpmahr @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) i dont think crede will be worth the money hes asking...josh fields will be ready by 2008 I think he will be too. Unfortunately i really love Joe Crede, but he will have to go.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 10:50 AM) Just like with Mr. Vazquez...if Mark Buehrle is signable for a contract of reasonable length and dollars, absolutely you must jump at it. The White Sox have been really good about avoiding giving out no-trade clauses, I think the most they've done is let Konerko list like 6 teams he won't go to. If you can sign both Vazquez and Buehrle, absolutely, you do so, you let them pitch out this season, then see where you stand with your rookies, Garland, and the trade market next year. A pitcher like Vazquez signed to a 3 year, $34.5 million deal or a pitcher like Buehrle signed to a 3-4 year, $14 mil a year deal is probably going to be worth a hell of a lot more in a trade than either of those same guys signed to a 1 year deal. If they can sign Buehrle to less than market value too, then we have two large trading chips that could help us reload this team within a couple of years. Thats a pretty good strategy for this club moving forward.
  16. If they cant get this deal done for what sounds like might be a reasonable amount, they should be shopping Mark at the deadline to really pick up some young difference makers. Also, I think that KW knows he saved some coin by signing Javy to that deal yesterday and that extra 2-4 million is now in Buehrle's bucket
  17. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 11:08 PM) I watched him Sunday. He looked good. But he didn't look overpowering, or even like he had plus-plus stuff. I thought that's what we traded for. I disagree, his new pitch, the change, looked MLB caliber to me. His curve is his plus pitch and he didnt feature it much and its also hard to snap those off in AZ.
  18. Anybody watch this tonight? I thought the interview with Joe was great, except when the contract talk came up. Also hearing him talk about the hunters on the team and refer to Thome as "Jimmy" was pretty awesome. Really a great idea by Comcast as it makes you remember why you liked some of these players.
  19. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 08:12 PM) We'll see, Rock. Last I saw was that his Double-A pitching coach said he got it up there between 88-90. Thats not the scouting report on him. If you have watched him this spring though, its hard not to get excited about the guy.
  20. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 08:09 PM) (As for the trade of McCarthy to Texas, I think KW is full of it. When McCarthy was traded, the implication was that Danks's stuff made him a better fit for the Cell. Now all I hear is that Danks throws 89-92. That was McCarthy's velocity. So, Danks may become great (and Masset, too), and he's certainly left-handed, but what I heard Kenny say is not what I'm hearing now that Mr. Danks is actually in Tucson.) Danks throws 90-94 ish. It is spring remember. And he is a much better groundball pitcher than BMAC who gives up a homerun about every other inning. Plus BMAC didnt fit in with this team, which is an automatic out in the clubhouse.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) So Mr GM. What would you have done. Extend Buerhle for about 5 years at a good clip. Or trot Danks out next year, then Gio and Broadway out in 09. And had the rotation filled with kids and no vets outside of Contreras who is 60. Probably something completely brilliant. We are all slower than Mr. No Plan.
  22. Jesus. Now we are comparing one of the best pitchers of all time with Javy to make a point. Im out Dick, we'll just see if you ever get YOUR tickets.
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 07:23 PM) He was under team control for 2 seasons. For more money.
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) But Scott would have forgotten that his client is also a below .500 career pitcher whose ERA has been higher than league average more than its been lower, and that you already have control of his contract for 2 seasons. How he ranks the last 9 years, really is of no concern to me. Its what I can project his next 4 seasons, is what's important, and I think its more of the same mediocrity. his record doesnt mean much pitching for mediocre teams. Not to mention its a worthless stat for most pitchers. And he would also push for him to NOT sign this extension because the next 2 years like you say, he would actually be paid MORE. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 07:15 PM) Sorry guys, but when a guy is sub .500 over 200 decisions, something is wrong with that pitcher. Yeah, he played for some horrendous teams. His best months after he made adjustments to his motion and stance, he was 2-5 with a 3.61 and 70+ k's. Would you say his record is more important than either of his other stats?
  25. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) I don't find the contract to be a bargain. That's where I totally disagree. If Vazquez puts up another season like the last 2 1/2, there would be no team interested in him at that price. You may think its a bargain now, but will you feel that way in 2009 or 2010? I don't think so, but admittedly I have never been a fan of Vazquez. If Scott Boras is across the table from you and says: "My client is the ONLY pitcher in the major leagues with 10 wins, 30 starts and 150 strikeouts in each of the last 7 seasons. Over the last nine years he ranks among the major league leaders in strikeouts (5th), starts (6th) and innings (8th)." And you get that guy for 3 years 34 million dollars. You have committed highway robbery.
