QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) Northwestern and Minnesota have hit their ceilings, but I think Illinois is the more attractive job then those given they do have a higher ceiling comparatively. Surprisingly enough, Minny's run of national dominance came in the decade after Illinois' -
I didnt realize that I had to pay 20% of my medical bills per my insurance for anything other than basic stuff, and my OOP max was high. My sons birth really brought this out. SInce then I have moved into a high deductible plan that my company offsets with an HSA contribution. This plan pays 100% after my deductible is met.

QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) I work as a Counselor at a hospital and we have been taking calls all day every day by people who just have no clue how insurance even works. They think if its Blue Cross Blue Shield they can use it at our hospital and it will be great!...Why?.....Well, because its Blue Cross and they are awesome! They have advertisement everywhere so they must be good. Do you sit down and read the benefits? Do you understand In and Out of Network? The more I talk to people it appears a lot of people do not understand how their insurance really works and when the s*** hits the fan and it doesn't cover like they thought they are pissed. Yes, but it took me paying a s***load out of pocket when I had my son to find out.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 10:07 AM) Yeah, UT doesn't have that atmosphere at all. Well, UT hasnt been paying his bills for years. I meant if Saban leaves the Bama guys will leak all sorts of s*** that he doesnt want out. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) "Middle of the road" is being kind. They're easily in the bottom 5. Ohio State Michigan State Michigan Iowa Penn State Nebraska Wisconsin Northwestern Indiana Illinois Maryland Purdue Minnesota Rutgers Minny has had some success though, I would move them up and move down IU and Maryland if we are talking about program strength. NW is up right now but I still have them below ILL. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) It's not more appealing than Miami, IMO. I do think a decent coach can come in and win a lot of games in the B1G west right now, though. Whether or not Illinois could even find and attract one is another story... Tom Herman was a big miss IMO, they should have thrown coin at him. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 09:34 AM) This isn't saying anything about Illinois relative to Miami, but you really underestimate how bad the B1G west is. And Illinois is not the bell cow program in a horrific division. I dont see how that makes it more appealing. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) Rebuilding a former powerhouse is more enticing than building a never was powerhouse. To be fair, they were pretty dominant in the 20's, otherwise known the decade after Michigan's heyday -

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 08:53 AM) It's assumed LSU would go after Jimbo if Miles is fired. Be interesting if FSU would consider Miles then. Kinda seems like a laterally or even downward move for Jimbo though, why make life harder on yourself. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) They have terrible facilities but if you can recruit from that area, it's a very good job still. I think Mario Cristobol gets that gig and does a great job. Rock, where do you think Les Miles ends up? That situation fascinates me. Its definitely an arms race for facilities, but they only get you so far. Nebraska has top tier facilities for almost every sport and you would never list that above Miami as a job. I dont think Les Miles goes anywhere to be honest, but I really dont pay attention to that situation. I know Texas is going to take a "run" at Saban, but its Tom Herman's spot IMO. Saban's dirty laundry would be on full view if he left the good ol boys network in AL. I know Chris Ash will be interviewing for a head coaching job soon so I wouldnt be surprised to see him pop up somewhere middle tier. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 08:43 AM) Not even close to a top 10 job. It's a terrible job. Bad facilities. No money. Alongside Texas, the craziest fans in the sport who will eat you alive...except unlike Texas they don't spend money on the program or even go to the games. It's under a NCAA microscope. What once made it a strong program is now gone. You'll still get some nice recruits but Florida is recruited 100x higher now by everyone then it was in Miami's heyday. They do have a strong alumni network. So if they are able to hire inside that they can get a decent coach. But we'll see. NFL pipeline, surrounded by talent, even with a brain dead coach still recruit better than successful programs. Miami still pulls in plenty of local talent as a lot of those kids stay home. If they hire a halfway decent coach its automatic top ten classes with little effort. Its still a top program, even when its down. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) Lots of people disagree. On espn they were saying it's a worse opening than the Central Florida opening. Again this only says how awful the Miami job is rather than anything about Illinois. Those people are idiots. Miami is a top ten job strictly based on recruiting alone. I'll say this, it is VERY hard for all three major Florida programs to be good at the same time, so someone who can actually coach needs to come into Coral Gables or they will continue to do nothing. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 07:32 AM) I'm sure he does. I was just holding out a slim hope that Illinois could be his stepping stone until the perfect top job opened up for him. No chance for that now. Before he went to Houston they could of had him. Now hes in Texas where he is most comfortable in his best recruiting area. No chance for him to go to Illinois now. Illinois could have been that stepping stone for a few years before he goes to Texas....Or Ohio State (someday). -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) Miami is in a relatively weak conference. You could go to Miami and conceivably win a conference championship within 5-10 years. That isn't happening at Illinois. Miami is a national name and a recent power, they are also in south florida aka the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. Illinois is a middle of the road Big Ten team with almost no chance to win a national title. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 04:22 AM) Miami? If their next coach doesn't have ties to the program, I bet Illinois hires a better coach then Miami. Miami is one awful, awful job. But yeah Herman wasnt coming to Illinois regardless. Miami is still a better job than Illinois and it's not even close. And Tom Herman will end up at Texas. -
I dont put anything up until Pearl Harbor day

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) Rock, what are you looking at per sq/ft? I'm curious because next year we may have to make a decision between remodeling bathrooms or just adding on and reconfiguring the existing bathrooms. LOL, ill let you know when we finalize the plan. Still in progress designing/finishing.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) I'm guessing your budget is pushing six figures? Those are not cheap appliances. I'm hesitant to buy the $2500 set for our new house. Ours is into the six figures for reno but we are changing the entire room line and whatnot so its a big project. This just adds a line item. I just want a flat top in the kitchen somewhere real bad.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) I wonder how long you'd appreciate that "extra citizen-response" if you were the one being dragged off of your flight for questioning because you were watching the news on your phone. The best course of action is to stop the collective pants-wetting. Having a plane brought back to the gate because someone was watching TV while being brown is not "being overly cautious," it's being hysterically paranoid. They werent dragged off, they were asked to step off and they did. I would be more angry if I was on the plane and it was late for any reason.
