QUOTE (SnB @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 07:25 AM) I remember having to shovel literally every other day that winter. Along w/ the absolute brutal cold and a newborn at home that wouldn't sleep, those were dark times. Yep I just moved to the burbs with a pregnant wife and I proceeded to put on a ton of weight which really helped the shoveling. Awful AWful winter.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 10:20 AM) Florida needed a FG late in the 4th to beat Vandy at home. If it was a 23-21 type game then I may see your point but not when the final was 9-7. Houston > Florida

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) Not sure why you think Baylor beating OSU, TCU, and Oklahoma wouldn't propel them past a 1-loss ND. It's pretty clear that Baylor is at #6 right now only because they haven't even played a team with a winning record yet. Things will change fast in the next few weeks if they beat those three teams. ND is going to fall out due to not having a conference title if all things line up and the uproar is going to be tremendous.

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) If Baylor or Okl St win out they will definitely make it No use trying to figure it out. Stanford moved up for beating Colorado. There is no Method until the cards are all on the table.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) If the top 4 win out, things won't change. Literally zero chance that happens IMO. I personally think Ohio State even though they are my team will lose

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 06:38 PM) These rankings are insane. It's the year of a good lose being more valuable than a bad win. If the committee gives Stanford credit for losing an early start time, why is that game even played so early? Just remember, they are still worthless right now. Last year's champion was ranked in the teens at this point.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) Perhaps i'm reading more into what you and others are saying. If so, my bad. But I take that to mean you see significant improvement. Not marginal improvement, but a big step from last year. That's what I don't see. I see a team that went from embarrassingly bad at times last year to just being bad. I don't consider that being anything more than a marginal step when a lot of what happened last year was dysfunction off the field. I think any number of coaches could have come in here and gotten that marginal step simply by having a different voice. I'm not suggesting Fox, Gase & Co. are bad, or that they've failed. To me they've done what was expected as a bare minimum. I have no qualms with Pace. I think he's done a good job thus far. We'll see how the draft picks work out, but he, more so than Fox, makes me excited for the franchise. Results-wise, its marginal, but as a team and organization, the changes are immense and obvious. I know what the Bears are trying to do on offense and defense and its cohesive and applied no matter the personnel. Its been years since we had that.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) No, I think hiring a professional coach who knows how to put out a respectable, professional looking team (that still isn't good) is what you hired Fox to do. I don't get the gushing over him or the 100% faith that he'll turn this mess around. I know you guys aren't saying this is a playoff team or they're going to the superbowl next year. But I'll refrain from being excited until they actually win some tough games and not meet the "we're not embarrassing anymore" bar. Well good luck with that POV. Fox was hired to take this team to the super bowl, something he's done twice before. The upper mgmt was hired to turn over a talentless roster with literally no identity. Both are well on their way.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) I can appreciate the sentiment, but you guys are getting excited about beating/losing closely to bad teams. Actual playoff teams they've been pretty non-competitive. I mean, sure, they're not getting crushed like the pats/packers games like last year, but that's when the franchise basically bottomed out. So seeing an improvement from last year (as well as the last several regimes) in basically every facet of the organization is nothing to be excited about?

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) I do recall a few brutal days last winter, but nothing as bad as 2013. It snowed every saturday in 2013 and then decided to go 20 degrees below for weeks. That was awful.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 01:58 PM) That's basically where i'm at. While my Cutler hate is still strong, I just don't see THAT much improvement, even considering the injuries and whatnot. I expected a noticeable jump. What i've seen is some pretty terrible playcalling at times, conservative decision making by Fox, and basically the exact same results. They're in the bottom class of the league, a few plays away from being 0-8. Going forward what's there to be super excited about? Almost the entire defense still needs to be replaced save for a spot or two on the D-line. The offense has the potential to be good, and it still has weapons, but it's going to be limited to "good" because of Cutler. He's still the same guy - some good, some bad, mostly just ok. Last night they won with a patchwork Oline, a rookie RB and Marc Mariani starting at one WR spot. What weapons are we talking about offensively?

2015-2016 NFL Thread
Its not that the production is much better in all three phases (it is) but the team actually has an identity and is MUCH more organized and purposeful. Under the last several regimes it was a bonehead team with little to no idea of what type of team it is. If you cannot see that then you should stick to watching your fantasy team and red zone.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) Yeah that's Jim Harbaugh, not coach #12 on the availability list this year. I mean I hope you're right that they get someone in quickly, but that's no sure thing. Plus he wasnt really "hired." Harbaugh wanted to coach there so he did.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 10:19 AM) Get a refund and get DirecTV . The hockey package isn't too expensive . Just not sure how popular DTV is in areas that have a lot of cloud cover during rain and snow storms that can affect the picture. Here in SoCal usually don't have to worry about it. But if you do decide to ever get DirecTV I can get you a small discount by giving you my account number. Yeah yeah, you want the credit on your account too I've lost my signal twice total, and both times it was brief and they were ridiculous Noah's ark type storms.

Illinois fires AD Mike Thomas
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 10:39 AM) Maybe, but Illinois is at the bottom of the pecking order for coaches, so timing matters less. Once again a terrible time to have a coaching vacancy. Illinois could have hit a homerun last season and hired Tom Herman.
