GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) You could also quote greg. The Astros of course have the best bullpen in the NL, if not all of MLB. The Royals are the best pen in baseball IMO. They also may be the best defensive team or one of the best. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) IT'S EVERY YEAR. Is it just a bad team every year? At this point Why are we not trying to fire the hitting coach at least. Everyone outside of Avi and Beckham are underperforming. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) Abreu has to give him a firm toss, not that loopy s***. I understand these guys are professionals, but is the coaching staff not at all accountable the lack of improvement? And if guys continue to not improve, why the f*** are we still playing hacks like Gillaspie and Abreu in the field? To quote the great Mike Singletary, you can't win with it. Agreed. We have a gold glove 1b sitting on the bench. My biggest pet peeve is the horrid amateurish base running. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) Has there ever been a worse White Sox defense? I don't think so....unless it was one of those 1977-1980 teams. And they had Mike Squires and Chet Lemon at least. Oh man let me think about that. This is definitely one of the worst but in the 90's with Valentin at SS and roiders making up a lot of the teams those may have been worst. Defense wasn't a priority back then -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) Please fire this coaching staff. Agreed but I'm not sure how that's their fault. Abreu sucked on two plays and Rodon on the last -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) He misses left and right for now. If he can be up and down with it, he will be even tougher If somehow he can command that bad boy he's an Ace. If he just improves up and down he's still a top 3 starter. That's how good his slider is. -

Rodons entire career arc is going to hinge on his command of the fastball. If he can come around he's going to be top of the rotation. If he doesn't, he will just float around. -
QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:39 AM) What is the obsession with this guy? Hasn't he proven he is an average at best NBA coach who isn't going to get you where you want to go? He has floated at or below 500 for almost every season he's been a coach, and has a career .506 win %. Is that good enough to keep teams knocking on your door? Pro sports are all very similar, retreads are hired because they have experience, even if their experience is mediocre.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:43 AM) Saw it last night. It's as bad as you'd think, yet entertaining at the same time. One of the most action-packed movies I've ever seen. There is a spot for those type of movies in popular culture, I hate how critics try to compare them to movies with an actual plot. I like watching action movies with the volume cranked on occasion.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 28, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) Looks like another dud for Cameron Crowe. "ALOHA" getting 11% on RT. Think Almost Famous is the only film of his I really liked. Say Anything was fine and Jerry McGuire is highly overrated. Singles was pretty good with a great soundtrack. Obviously his best work was as the writer for Fast Times at Ridgemont High

QUOTE (Brian @ May 28, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) If Bernstein is right, which I doubt, I don't see Rose and Butler ripping anyone. Doesn't seem like their personality. Could see Jo, Pau, and Dumleavy though. Everytime he types "sources" twitter should auto correct to "my brain"

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) Dave McMenamin @mcten 16m16 minutes ago Per a league source, at this moment the Bulls have security waiting to escort Tom Thibodeau out of the building.while he packs his things So, he's being fired like any other person in any other job.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 28, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) I have a simple recipe that will make you look like a grill god in the eyes of men: Cut a fresh jalapeno lengthwise in half and cut out the guts. Then cut those 2 halves in half the other way to create 8 little "boats". Smash a nice helping of the Philadelphia cream cheese in each boat & wrap each boat in a full piece of bacon. Send a skewer through those puppies, maybe 4 per skewer, spaced nicely and grill. The spacing is key so the skewed sides of bacon cook fully. Just spin them every few minutes. So simple but damn is it good. Anybody else ever do this? Ill add one more layer to that, mix the cream cheese with chorizo.

Official NHL 2014-15 Thread
RockRaines replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ May 28, 2015 -> 06:45 AM) The culture of the NHL is interesting regarding bad/missed calls. Unlike every other pro sports league, the players seem to register a quick complaint, and then they move on. They clearly blew that call, though. Crawford's glove was moved by the contact. He had no chance to make a play on the puck as a result. The first goal he literally got punched in the mask as the shot was taken which is why he never saw it go wide for deflection. -
