QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) Fun fact as I browsed PFF: no OL missed a single snap until Mills left yesterday's game early. Remarkable. Our best cumulative overall PFF grades over the season: Brandon Marshall, by a large margin Alshon Jeffery/Matt Slauson (tie) Josh McCown Our worst players, from worst to less bad: Jordan Mills Shea McClellin Major Wright The next tier of bad players is quite far from that trio, who are all fairly close in terms of their grade. FWIW, Mills's negative is almost entirely clustered in his pass blocking, though his run blocking is negative as well. The one thing Mills did well was avoid penalties, taking just two all year. Compare that to Bushrod's 7, which is still better than average. Marshall finishes with the team's best run blocking grade, but it should be emphasized that WRs have many more opportunities to get positive grades than negative grades, which is not true of linemen who are always in prime position to f*** up a play. Mills as the worst player? Thats crazy.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 09:07 PM) I'm not even going to read through this tonight, but as someone who's been pretty hard on Jay this year, this one was not on him. He played very well. I liked the offense for the most part. The bears out performed my expectations this year especially with injuries. I really like Trestman.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 08:01 PM) Let's not forget too that another franchise was willing to trade the guy, despite his elite talent. Who? Brandon Marshall?

Duncan Keith would make a great safety.

Outside of the ridiculous Cutler biased crap there is good info there. I still don't think you fire staff after one year. You change players first. The defense was injured and inexperienced. Draft, sign and please coach.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 07:15 PM) Jesus people. Learn to read. Here are the points i'm making: (1) Cutler might have outplayed Rogers in today's game based on stats alone, but at the end of the day one guy led his team down the field and won the game. That's who I think had the better game. It's not like Rogers sucked. (2) in thinking about the future, I don't believe Cutler is a franchise QB or the answer for the Bears, for a variety of reasons which I've spelled out. I'm not opposed to bringing him back, but it has to be at the right price because there are enough weapons for average QB's to win with IF they can also upgrade the defense. (3) the defense blows and clearly made critical errors in the game. They are much more to blame than Cutler. (4) people blaming Tucker for a stupid mistake by the defense on a fumble-TD and thinking Lovie would have stopped that from happening are stupid. I'm making sure I remember that a QB rating in the 80's is good to you.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:59 PM) Stats mean dick if you don't win. How's Cutler done against the best team in the division? The team that needs to be beat every year to get into the playoffs? That's why we need Craig Krenzel back. He just won.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) Terrible analogy. A QB can suck for three quarters and still make the plays to win the game in the 4th. A QB of all positions in basically all of sports has the ability to affect the game the most. Cutler had a more complete game than Rogers. Ok, great (and let's forget Forte's game or Marshall's ridiculous catch). Rogers won the game when it mattered. He made the plays when it mattered. That's all that matters in my book. But continue on Cutler-apologists. It's the WR's. It's the O-line. It's the coach. It's the play calling. It's the defense. It's the blah blah blah. Bottom line, the dude can't beat the Packers. He finally had a good game against the Packers and it still wasn't enough. Dude is not a franchise QB and I'd really hate it if the Bears committed a ton of money to him given the problems with the rest of the roster. That's really all I (and Jake) are saying. If he takes a reasonable sum of money, fine, bring him back. If he's asking for the moon, give him a nice handshake on his way out. I love the eye test. Stats suck.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:53 PM) That play was before GB's game winning drive. Swapped QBs. Is this your Xbox. If Cutler had a QB rating in the 80's and Rogers in the 100's then I would suspect he would make sense.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:41 PM) Pssh, no. Rodgers had one terrible pass but made play after play the entire game. The tipped interception is one of those excuse throws people give Cutler all the time. Rogers WON the Packers the game. No excuse necessary. Well then statistics don't matter. Eye test rules!!!!! Cutler was what you needed him to be, and the defense failed us. It would have been awesome to give Cutler 27 more plays.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) There's always an excuse for him. What excuse? He outplayed Rogers. Cutler was not why they lost.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:35 PM) This is a game your QB is supposed to get you. We didn't have a QB that could get us a win like this, at least not on the field Give it up. With a bulls*** int he had a 103.8 rating.

Lol. Nice job defense.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:26 PM) Mel Tucker better be fired the second this game ends. Lol. It's the players not the scheme.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 28, 2013 -> 11:42 PM) Hoke should be fired. Or Michigan isn't who they think they are. Yeah, probably the latter. Them losing was a no brainer if you watched how both teams finished. As soon as Gardner was ruled out it was over. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 26, 2013 -> 10:05 AM) From what I keep hearing, if he breaks it again, its a minimum 6 month heal time after surgery. So, he theoretically could be ready for next season, but who knows Yeah, I'm not sure thats what they want to do, I mean the guy is literally the entire team.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 26, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) so is Rodgers gonna be cleared or will GB err on the side of caution? Im torn, on one hand I know that GB and Rodgers would love to stick it too Chicago in this crazy NFC North. On the other hand, GB has a lot to lose if Rodgers comes back and re-breaks the collarbone, and given their injuries and defense this year, it doesnt look like they are going to beast through the playoffs. Word is he's not healing very quickly. And do you risk him getting injured again? I dont know.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 25, 2013 -> 11:10 AM) His posts seem very level-headed. I don't know how anyone can really disagree with any of the points he's made and I'm usually a pretty staunch Cutler supporter. It's just getting to the point where he's getting harder and harder to defend. He's clearly the better choice now because he has the arm that can win the bears games. The defense is so bad that you have to take the volatility that Jay brings to the offense. Its hard to notice the level headed ones when 99% of his others are hilariously biased.

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 11:31 PM) I've concluded that he's uncoachable because he continues to make the same mistakes he has always made. It looked earlier this year like he may have made some strides but it no longer seems that way. He fails to make adjustments at the line, he holds the ball too long, he constantly throws off of his back foot, does not progress through his reads, holds the ball one-handed and near his waist in the pocket, and who knows what else. When people talk about Jay's wasted talent, this is why. This is why McCown can come in and outplay him. McCown will see the blitz and abuse it to the extent that they quit doing it. He doesn't turn the ball over. He makes the right reads. His inferior arm is nullified by the fact he steps into his throws with his feet under him. McCown is nothing special, he's just well coached. It is indeed hard to prove whether or not he is coachable, but the fact that he makes the most fundamental quarterbacking mistakes year after year with coach after coach leads me to believe it is the case. That doesn't mean he is a dickhead or that he has a bad relationship with his coaches. When I'm saying uncoachable, I'm saying that he is being coached and not implementing what is being coached. Maybe he's not smart enough or too scared of the rush from his early years or he's walking around half-concussed. I don't know why he is uncoachable, but I can't think of any other reason he has failed to improve any on these things that you're taught in high school. Do you ever get sick of making anti-Cutler posts?

QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 11:55 AM) Jay Cutler will start for Bears against Packers http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown...38348--nfl.html Yeah, doesnt the starter usually start?

Nice Forte.

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 08:25 PM) Because they snapped with 0 on the play clock, he f***ing throws it without reading the defense like he's still being timed. Lol. I thought you wanted him to get the ball out quickly?
