QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 09:07 AM) In order to get someone to take Dunn of their hands they're not going to wind up with much money to play with out of it. And there's a good chance some of that money has to go to pay someone to take Keppinger as well. Overall they will have more money to spend even if they pay some of those contracts. It's cheaper then keeping and paying their entire salary. I know they are shopping Dunn, not sure about Kep.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 08:52 AM) I would be pretty shocked if they were willing to pay anyone much higher than Lindstrom to come in...actually, I would have preferred had they just let Lindstrom go, brought in one of those closers from the list along with a LHR and filled the back end with our minor leaguers. Chris Perez is another name that might be of interest...I know there are character issues. Can't believe K-Rod is only 31. But too much wear and tear on him. Rodney will drive everyone crazy, but Cooper might be a believer. Marmol, no way. If they somehow get someone to take Dunn off their hands (they are actively trying) then they have some money to play with.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 04:44 PM) Rock did mention something about bringing a vet in to compete for the job...not sure if that is something he heard or just something he would do. The closer markey is still pretty deep... Andrew Bailey (30) Grant Balfour (36) Joaquin Benoit (36) Rafael Betancourt (39) Kevin Gregg (36) Joel Hanrahan (32) Ryan Madson (33) Chris Perez (28) Fernando Rodney (37) Jose Veras (33) Carlos Marmol (31) Brandon Lyon (34) Brett Myers (33) Francisco Rodriguez (31) All those guys have some kind of closers experience. If you're one of those who don't believe the Sox can compete, then at the very least whoever they pickup could be traded at the deadline(assuming they succeed). I think Hahn is brining in someone to compete. I personally like Jones as the set up man.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 05:37 PM) I can see why girls love that Josh Hutcherson though. I envy his jawline. But back to the movie. Even after doing some internet digging and reading the part from the book (found it online), I still can't figure out why I cant remember from the book, the movies do terrible jobs telling the story. In the first one, why did they all of a sudden love the food on the train? Or why was everyone dressed so weird. Apparently the director forgot about the whole "narration" part of the book. And go ahead and stop now, the third book is 100% trash.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 06:49 AM) While I think this is Bo Ryans best overall team to date, I''m still in wait and see mode... The only team Wisconsin has played thus far with a pulse was Florida's JV squad. Its fairly easy to predict how Wisconsin will be if you look at the odds. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 05:28 PM) Guys I have to admit, the Indiana fan was right, Wisconsin has had real trouble adjusting to the new rules.... Oh wait, I was right and its helped Wisconsin. LULZ http://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketbal.../fouls-category Wisconsin 2013 14.8 fouls per game, 2012 14.0 fouls per game. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) b****es be crazy. So girl I've been seeing for close to a month now (so obviously not serious but potentially seems to be heading in that direction) tells me last night that she is scared about how fast the relationship is moving and is kind of freaked out and wants to try to take things slower. Not exactly what I wanted to hear but I kind of get it because we have been hanging out a ton despite not knowing each other very long. However, when we hung out on Saturday she was the one who asked me to come over to her place to watch a movie on Sunday night and we also have plans on Thursday (at her suggestion) for her to come to my place to cook dinner. So yeah, have no idea what to do with that one. Keep thrusting until she tells you to stop.

Sox trade Addison Reed to Diamondbacks for 3b Matt Davidson

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 03:32 PM) Interesting. I'm glad they're looking at it that way. We should be able to get something nice and shiny for ADA anyway. Now that they clearly need to fill in the pen a bit they have pieces to deal for that. I was surprised they dealt Reed, but not once I saw what they got. -

QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) So it looks like one of De Aza and Viciedo are likely to go and then Gillaspie and Keppinger? With L. Garcia or Elmore being the backup? Yeah, Viciedo isnt going before De Aza. It would take a monstrous trade package for them to deal him. -

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 03:06 PM) Looks about right. I think Veal has got to be a lock for one of the lefty spots though. Most likely, I also think they bring in a vet arm to compete at closer. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 12:32 PM) For the current wave of graduates - not as fun - since their starting salaries have been dropped to about poverty level. The two entry-level people I hired a few months ago have no plans of moving out of their parents' homes... because surviving on $25k is next to impossible in Chicagoland. Entry level salaries were so much higher when I graduated just 8 years ago. My entry level salary in 2003 was 23,000 with a 2,000 bonus. The rent in Chicago in LP where I lived was around 600/person/month. I also got a bar job on the side on the weekends for extra cash.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) Wait. Is there anyone on the planet that wants the Avi Garcia/Peavy deal back? Does Santiago count as 2 starters even though he was only 0.5 starter? Nope and Nope -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) With all due respect, who gives a s*** about Connor Gillaspie? With Davidson coming in, he isn't the 3B of tomorrow. He isn't even the 3B of today anymore. Unless Davidson isn't ready, you send Connor to Charlotte. If someone claims him, oh well. Correct. One of the big knocks on him is his footwork, I think we have a decent position coach that can help with that. The Sox EASILY can add another reliever via trade or FA. -

Jones and probably an FA flyer to compete for the job. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 12:00 PM) I certainly don't think it's 100% lock that Seattle makes it to the Super Bowl but let's not get all 2006 St. Louis Cardinals in here either. To me injuries and penalties will be the biggest factor to take down the Seahawks. They're up there as one of the highest penalized teams in the NFL. That could bite them in a crucial situation and cost them a game if they're not careful. or turnovers, or scheme or many different factors. Its the NFL. All playoff teams are talented enough to go the distance.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 12:01 PM) Looking at the OOC resumes in the Top 25's... there's a lot of weakness at the top, and a lot of interesting teams at the bottom and just out of ranking. I get the impression there will be a LOT of movement in the polls in January. Should be fun to watch. Like most recent years. We wont know s*** until conference play starts. -
Oh and Homeland, I really thought something was going to come out of the sky and happen, but it didnt. Also all of those wide shots during the slow parts made me think there was a bombing or something, but nothing ever came. Great suspense builder.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 08:19 AM) Ha, I actually enjoy it now, too. I watch "Vanderpump Rules" with my wife, and it's complete garbage and trash and I adore it. Vanderpump rules is hilarious. All these cast members appear so glamorous and cool yet they are f***ing servers and go back to these tiny little s***ty apartments they share with a roommate.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) If you watch the 1st pick...Marshall gets ran into about 15 yards into his route. It was a clear illegal contact. Still a bad pass but things might be different if Marshall isn't jammed 15 yards into his route. The 2nd pick was a fine read...ball floated on him due to rust. It is what it is but I ain't going to get all pissy about that one. The first one was a tight window and didn't need to be made. He floated a few others on the game but really the first pick was the only real bad decision Jay made the whole game. He played pretty darn good against a good defense on the road with big win. Oh and they scored a ton of points too and Jay was clutch late in the game. Marshall said the first one was his fault, but called the second one a "horrible throw" which it was.
