  1. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 11:02 AM) You must be friends with some of the same people I'm friends with because I have one that makes that exact post every other day. Its a certain kind of people apparently. Tell me again about your best BF ever because he brought you bulls*** flowers from Jewel. Sweet post about you relaxing with candles and a bottle of wine, I know you will be drinking the entire thing and posting how lonely you are later only to delete it the next morning. Its like the people who are house hunting and always say, oh look at this balcony, we can have our morning coffee out here together. Sure you will, and it will be fake as hell.
  2. And someone please kill the word "hubby."
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) who's seeing your fb feed that would be breaking into your house but wouldn't know you were out of town or your typical work hours? Some people are dumb enough to make their posts "public"
  4. You cant have it all at once and I dont think the Sox are in win now mode to overpay for a starting pitcher. i think they try to see if these guys develop and then surround them with higher priced talent if it works out.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) I find it hilarious when people post vacation pictures while they're on vacation. HEY WE AREN'T AT HOME COME ROB US. How about giving you a countdown until they vacate the house? I also hate people posting on their honeymoon, are you really that f***ing bored?
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 10:21 AM) Ha ALL of my friends do that. Not including my Soxtalk friends, I've had 3 good friends knock up their wives this last year and they were all announced on Facebook. Two of them I knew beforehand and wasn't allowed to say anything to anyone and one of them I would have never known if it wasn't for FB and that was my best friend out of the bunch. Did they do it with a clever picture of them and a bun in the oven, or perhaps a dog with a tshirt that says future big brother? Because I throw up on those.
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 09:40 AM) Here you go Rock, upload this to your FB page: hahaha. Same with vacation pictures. I remember my family pulling out a slide projector to show that s*** and it was a nightmare. Now people post HUNDREDS of pics of their vacation on the internet.
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 09:20 AM) OK, that part I can agree with. It's another reason I don't even bother to have Facebook. Its good for keeping in touch with people you dont have "phone relationships" with. However its become horrific with the type of information people share on there. To the oversharer talking about their depression or job loss or something else that should not be on the internet to the person who posts pictures EVERY SINGLE night of what they made for dinner. How about the "candles lit, dinner made, wine in hand, anbd my HUBBY!!! Life is so good." Well b****, if it was so good you wouldnt be looking for other people's approval on the internet /end rant We never "announced" us having a baby on facebook and people were actually angry that we didnt.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 09:18 AM) He has a role but if he wasn't Paul Konerko he wouldn't have been re-signed, period. They were surprised he took that much of a pay cut to play one more year. And we all should enjoy it, this is Paulie's farewell tour.
  10. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) Deep breath. It's for the kids to run around and find the next day, it's a game for them to make Xmas fun (and a trick to get them to behave better). Yeah, but that doesnt mean its Facebook material. People share entirely too much bulls*** on that thing these days. It's like showing me what crap meal you made for dinner, I just dont care. I think I've hid 85 percent of my friend list.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 09:03 AM) So you are saying you loved "Christmas Jammies"? I loved how people thought that was just some creative family. Its a family of actors who professionally do promotional films, and just made you watch an advertisement for their new company.
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 08:09 AM) If the Sox believe that Viciedo is going to be a middle of the order bat, then they need to eventually move him to 1B/DH and get a left-handed power bat for LF. Unless the Sox are planning on signing Choo or manage to get such a bat in a trade, there is no reason to dump Dunn for nothing instead of waiting until 2015 to move Viciedo to 1B/DH. As many people have noted, as exciting as it is to get guys like Abreu, Garcia, Davidson, and Eaton, a lot of good prospects bust and the Sox need to get more young talent whenever possible, and the best way to turn Dunn into young talent is to deal him midseason, when he is hopefully hitting well and has less salary remaining. If Carlos Lee can play the OF, so can Viciedo.
  13. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 11:28 PM) Did he say anything that we all already don't know? Its like he reads Soxtalk.....
  14. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 08:08 AM) Kane now has a point in 22 of the last 23 games. 11 of those being multiple point games. Should have unloaded that drunk years ago!! Seriously, I can see why Preds fans dont show up to the games, their style of play is awful and boring.
  15. I love dogs so maybe its not annoying to me, but what takes the cake is that stupid f***ing elf thing. I dont give a f*** you bought an elf doll and now its hanging off your toilet seat.
  16. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 12:06 AM) Thank you, and thank you. But I have pretty much 0 chance of moving out and surviving. My mom just hit me with the "so now you pay all your own bills, and you are now $20K in student debt" yesterday, so that was cool. I'm not what you call a very hard worker. Maybe that's not the right word, because I work hard when I am at work, I just hate working. I've had a job since I was 16, but it's usually been 15-20 hours a week. I'm very cheap and frugle, so it's never been an issue for me making only like $100 a week. But now that I have all my own bills to pay instead of just a portion of them, I realize I need to start working 30+ hours a week now just to stay afloat. I know my parents will help me out if I need it, but I feel guilty enough being the only one of my brothers to go away to college at at a University. My 2 older brothers stayed home and commuted to school where tuition was only like $2500 a semester or something cheap like that. They were both able to work throughout college and pay their own bills, I never did (maybe could have, but my major does not lend itself to a side job). Needless to say, I got heaps of stress right now. I've spent the past few hours trying to apple to various baseball jobs across the country, unfortunately most are only offering internships, and no entry-level positions. Let me tell you a story about a boy... Seriously, I finished school and went to a single semester of grad school before I figured out it sucks balls. SO I moved home much like yourself. I then "looked around" for work for awhile to no avail because I didnt know what I wanted to do. I eventually found and tried out for a position as a ski instructor at Keystone mountain in Summit county colorado. I told my parents farewell and they replied, how are you going to pay for the move, the apt, the equipment and your day to day before they pay you? My mom then shoved a CDW application in front of me and I knew it would be easy to get the job and I would make a little money before finally taking off for ski season. 10+ years later I am still selling technology (CDW was the worst I stayed there for 365 days exactly) and I love my current position and especially the pay. I guess my point is you never know where you are going to land so just take it day by day, work hard with what you get at the time and it will work itself out.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 08:33 AM) As an SIU grad, I lean towards this. It's funny but if you're a head coach, you should set a better example to college kids. If they were pros, I'd get more of a kick out of it. Funny things happen when you see your job going down the drain.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) Valpo+Notre Dame+Cubs = me puking. I've had the unfortunate chances of being around him several times in a social setting including working at a bar he was at and he was nothing short of a piece of s***. Horrible douche.
  19. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 02:32 PM) Oh yea it's pretty great not having a lot of commitments (zero school loans thanks to parents/being an RA to cover housing costs and working PT to cover all other costs), even with financing a car and rent I pretty much don't really worry about money. Back then I worked at Grand Central on Lincoln and Wrightwood and used that cash for day to day and never touched my paychecks except for rent and bills. Never even used my ATM card. Those were the days.
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) Whoa those are really low starting salaries. Even my roommate who is just a lab tech at a large pharma company (and is hourly) makes around $40k before overtime. Entry level in IT is like $55k+ at most large companies in the Chicago area. CDW, 23k +2k signing bonus paid out of 365 days. Also 10% of GP commisson. I made probably 40k as the top rep my group. To me that was a TON of money.
  21. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 11:55 AM) 1979 started as a product manager at $18,000 + bonus Living pretty large there.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 01:01 PM) My parents use my netflix account and dont seem to have many issues. We have about 5 households on one account, no issues.
  23. I also want to pick up a cheap Wii that nobody wants, anyone selling?
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 07:41 AM) I would imagine that he means more people will adopt the inferior XBOX One due to lack of ability to get a PS4. Me? I can wait. I was actually thinking about switching back to xbox after not being able to find a PS4. Probably not the best idea.
