QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 14, 2013 -> 07:59 PM) Fun while it lasted, good effort cats! Welcome to watching OSU-NW games. Always close, grind em out affairs. NW plays OSU tough for some reason. A few years ago a 2-3 zone would have been a disaster as Lighty, Buford and Diebler would have shot them out of it. This year, it was brilliant. Plus making 50+ percent of your 3's is always good. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 13, 2013 -> 09:07 AM) The 4 on 3 for basically 4 minutes last night in OT was quite frustrating - gee, I wonder if they'll cycle the puck back and fourth and tank slap shots into traffic? I guess it works, but Anaheim had that locked down and gave this 30 year old freak out of nowhere goaltender enough vision to make the stops. Anaheim's style is that way in which they bait you to shoot from the point into their entire PK crowding in front of the net. They apply zero pressure to the blue line and let our D men who have horrible slappers take shots. That 4 on 3 was maddening. All they needed to do was pass across the blue paint just once and its game over. -
One and dones suck for both college and the NBA. I'd rather have 3 years min or no min at all.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2013 -> 07:59 AM) Saad is so much fun to watch in open ice. He's really good, very strong on the puck and blends well with Toews and Hossa. I dont like our taking shots from the point approach on the power play that much. Anaheim doesnt pull their pressure out to our d men so we just had guys with so-so shots wailing away at their guys blocking the net. -
I just wish we would have tanked then instead of adding players to make us meh. Get me a draft pick not a barely playoff worthy snoozefest.

That doesnt look like Vegas at all. Nice.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 12, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) About to put in an offer with the girlfriend on a pristine mcm on an acre that was the "guesthouse" of Phyllis McGuire...have learned all kinds of crazy things about water rights and community wells this morning... Nice, post some pics when you get a chance. I'm about 2 weeks away from listing my condo, and looking really hard now for a SFH in the area. Unfortunately there isnt much so its drawing me up to wicker park/ bucktown.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 12, 2013 -> 12:11 PM) This. If you have two pockets, why not use both? There's no need to cram everything into one pocket. Let pocket, gum, chapstick, car key fob.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 12, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) On a side not, I bet my manager that Bourn would make over $8m per year, easiest $5 I've ever made. Such an overpay. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 06:10 PM) Why would you want to put other things in there with your phone though? It'll just scratch the phone up. I put my phone in my right pocket with my keys, never had an issue with scratching.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:59 PM) My phone is bigger than any iphone and fits in every pocket of every garment of clothing I own. Yeah but most of us dont wear overalls.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:53 PM) Of course there is no requirement for anything bigger than your iphone to do those things. You also could cut the iphone screen in half and make the same argument. Fact is, other than making phone calls, a larger screen is more desirable for all of the other non-phone uses. What if one of my requirements was it has to fit in my pocket?

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:47 PM) It's not the fact that we have a ton of those kinds of players, it's the fact we have them. IIt's an indication of where overall athleticism has gone. Soon we'll have a 7 footer that moves like a guard used to. Athletes have always progressively gotten bigger, stronger, and faster. I just so happen to think with the advances in training and nutrion that have occurred the past couple decades, the gap in athleticism between the '90s and now is probably the largest gap in sports history. Not just basketball. I dont know, Detlef Schrempf had some mad handles and he was 6'10"

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) But there's more to it than just games. There's: - texting - ebook - web browsing - email - calendar/appointments - music player - camera/video - weather - social media - notes - "office" type applications (i.e., word doc, spreadsheet, etc.) - GPS/Navigation - banking/finance And that's just a tip of the iceberg. These things are so much more than phones and that's why their size is being mutated to be better suited for a larger suite of uses. I dont see how any of those requires me to carry a phone any bigger than my iphone. If I want to edit and review documents I need a better device than even my ipad.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:36 PM) In all seriousness, I'd like you to point to one moment this season where you thought "gee, if the Hawks were more physical there, they'd have been better off" - it's a myth. I think you are confusing what I'm saying with wanting to add a John Scott or something like that. There have been times when the offense is having trouble with the defensive system in the neutral zone and they go to getting the puck deep and I just wished we have one or two more guys that would be tougher in the corners. Not advocating goons at all. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:33 PM) Eat s***. I've watched more Blackhawks hockey than you this season, and see zero reason for them to be more physical. LOL, ok I've watched more than YOU, so there. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) Yeah, part of me wants to say that's enough, another part says beating 2 conference opponents at home really isn't enough to warrant a 3-4 seed in the tournament. But whatever, the still have a few chances to prove if they're that good. They'll end up a 6 seed IMO. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) You said they still lack a need to be physical, yet they are 10-0-2 - just curious why those results tell you they need to throw more elbows. The results dont, watching the games does. And like I said its not throwing elbows, its the physicality on the puck, the guys in the corner controlling the opponent. Think one more Buff-type of player. Thats to be a cup winner IMO. I love physical wings that upset the flow of d-pairings when the puck is dumped in. Thats one of the reasons I think the Toews/Saad/Hossa line has been so dominant. Saad is really good in the corners behind the net, Toews is a beast digging is out and with the puck and Hossa is just big enough to have great puck possession ability. They are a defensive nightmare and have been wearing down opposing D-men like crazy. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) I think there's a paradigm shift going on where these things are no longer phones. They're personal assistants which are capable of making phone calls. Let's face it. A great deal of people, perhaps a majority, are using these devices less for actual phone calls and more for other reasons. So yes, in the old way of thinking of things...this is a large phone but it's a nice size for a device that makes your life easier...oh and if you really want to, you can use it to make a phone call. There has to be options because I use my phone for calls alot more than anything else. I never play games at all.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 03:46 PM) The need to "be physical" was a myth last year. The need to insert players whose only skill was to be physical was a myth, but overall we got pushed around. Skill players with physicality is key to being a cup winner, I think we have a few up and coming but we could still use another 1 or 2. For example I think Saad bring physicality to the wing position but he's not a brawler in that sense. However strength on the puck in the corners is invaluable. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 10:11 AM) Let's talk about the Chicago Blackhawks. We are 12 games into the season, and the Blackhawks are 10-0-2, having played the best that the West has to offer while only having two home games on the schedule. The Blackhawks just got a shutout for Christ's sake. This team is deep. It seems like everything is coming together *knocks on wood, again*. Crawford has mentally grown into at least a passable number one goaltender. We have four defensemen who are legitimate number ones (heck, I'd say Ikea and Oduya have been our best pairing pretty handily). The Blackhawks have two of the best lines in hockey, and a fully-dedicated Kanerrrrrrrr. This is the sickest Hawks team I have ever seen - better than those early to mid 90s behemoths, and even better than the 2010 team. Please keep them healthy, God. They still arent all that physical, which hurt them a bunch last year. They have holes, luckily the offense has covered up quite a bit of them. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) I don't really see how Ohio State is still in the top 15 (or top 25 really) either. Edit: Forgot they beat Michigan and Wisconsin at home. But that's about it. I mean, they haven't lost to anyone terrible either, I love it when you argue with yourself. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 02:14 PM) Rushing the court elitists continue to be the most annoying people in CBB. Good for Dakich for calling that idiocy out. Dakich is an idiot. I would never want to be on the same side of an argument as him.
