  1. Kent Graham's son Taylor transferring out of OSU. He will be a good pocket passer for whoever picks him up. He wasnt going to get much playing time with the Bucks. Depending on the source as well it looks like Dodson and Pittman may be verbaling this weekend. That would be a HUGE haul.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) PK isn't going anywhere. We still need some revenue from ticket sales, you know. At this point I hope they go and ask him if he wants to leave. At least let him contend in his last contract.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 01:00 PM) If only his preferred team didn't have $43 million locked up in 3 major underachievers, maybe they would have? Exactly, they didnt give him the opportunity to stay home.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) I would have assumed Mark would have been the FA to say that, not Wilson. If only his preferred team offered him a deal like Wilson's did.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) Great, Sandusky out on bail again. Probably headed straight to the sporting goods store to buy more PSU gear, the sick bastard. Yup, which is why the bail was ridiculous. WTF.
  6. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) I'm not a big fan of Sumlin, I think the Illini would be better off going after the Oklahoma State offensive coordinator. Apparently they are close to a deal with Tim Beckman. Thats just not a good hire IMO On the plus side, another piece of the OSU coaching tree for you guys.
  7. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 11:39 AM) ScottMCBSSports: Marlins offered Wilson $98-$99 million over 6 years. "If it was about the money, I'd be a Florida Marlin," Wilson said Hmm. Good thing another team close to his home offered him a deal even if it was less money.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) Their offer was supposed to be in the $210 to 220 range for 10 years. Probably seemed like enough for him to take a hometown discount, until these actual numbers came out.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) This is nonsense in a rebuilding mode and spots open on 40 man available to leave him out there to be picked #2 overall by the Twins shows me mangement just does not get it. Rudderless ship, drifting into the cellar gently.
  10. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 09:04 AM) wow..is about all I can say to that Marmol and Garza do not get you Adrian Marmol doesnt get you much at all.
  11. Wow that contract will be awful near the end. Looking forward to Kenny acquiring Albert in 2018
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) No, he gave them every chance to give him a counter offer, of which there was no guarantee he would accept. I'm sure he would have accepted a bit of a hometown discount, but exactly how much less? If the Sox could only afford 3/$27, I doubt he stays in Chicago instead of going to Miami. With the recent bad seasons & the Terrible Trio's contracts, I'm not sure the Sox thought they could offer him a fair market offer. That was also before Miami offered anything. He told them he would take a hometown discount before FA hit. Of course the Sox offered nothing in return, so we never know what he would have taken.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) Pretty sure he ended up shooting 4 for 4. He got doubled everytime and the guards couldn't capitalize FWIW, I think one of Bruce Weber's major flaws is that he doesnt adapt his offense or defense to his personnel. Maybe he does and I dont notice as an outside observer, but running the motion over and over and just hoping you get a post play or rebound for your most talented player makes zero sense to me. I would also have them running a 2-3 matchup zone on the back end to help the younger guys out a bit and also to keep Meyers under the basket where he belongs.
  14. All of the reporters that wrote a watch out for Illinois article this week were on the edge of their seats for awhile there. Meyers with 9 points and 8 boards, not a good performance for him after people were calling him a breakout star this week. I didnt watch the whole game, how many touches did he get? Until they start playing through arguably their most talented player, they are going to struggle if they cant shoot from distance.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) No Buehrle hasn't at all. That's what was so awesome about him, that he talked about how the money wasn't that important, how he could retire early, how just being close to home and close to family matters. Obviously $58 million quickly changed his opinion about that. Very few athletes talk like Buehrle did though. Most athletes aren't afraid to admit they just want the most money possible in free agency. (There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, especially since careers can end so quick.) http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/sox-drawer/...43714296662-914 He gave them every chance to keep him.
  16. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:28 PM) Really strange situation. ASU President apparently called off the deal after everything was agreed upon. Yeah thats weird. I wonder if Martz is back in play.
  17. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:39 PM) Sounds like they are rebuilding like they said they were. A rebuild that is quite necessary. Just like they don't need a good closer in Santos if they won't be contending, they also don't need to spend money on a front of the line LHP either. Very very true. I just wish part of the rebuild was hiring a new GM
  18. QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) me too rock, but I started when we signed ventura, that told me we would rebuild. No other reason to sign a guy who never managed anywhere. You know I am actually relieved, having these tickets and Blackhawk tickets were draining. That said, I am very curious to see what we get for these guys. Sox will always have room to jump back in. It was sad when I finally closed the book on many years of great memories at the park, but looking at the direction this club is heading I would rather spend my time on the golf course.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:31 PM) That's not true. The White Sox can't afford him because they f***ed up on so many other contracts. Hey Mark, we appreciate you, here's 3 yrs, $30 million. Do you think he accepts that? No way. So why didnt they at least offer him something. Or how about keeping in touch with him during the process. Sorry, this isnt the case of the player leaving when he could have stayed. The White Sox didnt even try. Just like above, this is ALOT like Thome or Ventura except in both of those cases at least an offer was made (although piss poor).
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:28 PM) The offers Chicago/St. Louis could afford were nothing compared to what Miami offered. But what did they offer? Nothing. We will never know what it could have taken to keep him here. They could have offered something months ago and kept the guy, but they didnt. The White Sox did NOTHING to keep Mark Buehrle.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Then he should never have said it. Over and over. And over. And over. And over. What exactly did he say? Go back and read the articles. All the guy said over and over was how much he wanted to be here. The thought of hitting free agency worried him enough that he thought about hanging it up before leaving this area and this team. Then free agency hit and other teams showed him love and appreciation. The White Sox organization didnt feel the same this time around unfortunately.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Or Miami had 58 million other ideas. The Sox management couldn't hand the guy a blank check This thread isnt for that. But yes, they could have brought him back even before Miami made the offer.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:18 PM) "I want to retire a Cardinal or a White Sock and play close to home." Which one of those teams made him an offer? It pretty easy: NONE The White Sox had every chance to extend the guy even before he hit the market. They didnt think it was a priority apparently.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:13 PM) I'm now officially an ex-season ticketholder. Join the Club!!! The ticket rep didnt sound surprised whatsoever.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) Who said that they couldn't keep Pena? Fielder is the person all along I though the Cubs would get. I thought I heard that since he declined arb that they thought they couldnt fit him into the budget. Same time it was said that the Cubs werent really pursuing Prince. https://twitter.com/#!/PWSullivan/statu...519768244879360
