QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) I dont think the Illini are ready for the Big Ten yet so I'm going to say no, maybe if they beat Gonzaga tomorrow I'll change my mind. I havent watched every second of their games this year, but has Weber tried to run a 2-3 zone defense yet? -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) I don't understand what the confusion is. Of course Tennessee isn't up to standards. But my comment wasn't about being "up to standards for awhile." It was refuting we haven't been "good for awhile." There is a difference b/t the two. I'd say 3 SEC Championship appearances in the last 10 years is "good." Heck, it's better than 9 other teams in the SEC. Anway, this is the roughest patch we've hit in 30+ years, but I'm really not too worried. Programs with as much history and money as Tennessee never stay down for long. I may be incredibly frustrated with football right now, but whether it's Dooley or (more likely) the guy after him, we will be competing for championships again. As long as we keep bringing in Top 10 recruiting classes (about to be our 3rd in a row), the talent level will be more in line with the rest of the league. This is pretty much what I was getting at. At least my impression of a "good" UT team is what yours is too. This is a rough patch for them and I consider them one of the top programs in the country for as long as I can remember. I think alot of us view them as down or not good if they arent back up to the standard. I dont think its an overall knock. And I'm guessing my distaste of Urban is going to go away as soon as this recruiting class starts to finish, he is already having some players say OSU is their #1, players who never even looked twice at us before. I just hope he can do it honestly and with integrity. -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 06:28 PM) Right. But as of now, it's been 4 years since we were a 4th quarter screw up from winning the SEC and going to the Sugar Bowl. My point is that I wouldn't consider your statement of "Tennessee hasn't been good for awhile" as accurate. But maybe we just have differing opinions on what "awhile" means. There is no way you feel that the program has been up to standards for quite awhile. -
Still waiting for one of these reporters to come out with something that i didnt post about weeks ago.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) I think the rules are that the last place teams the prior year don't get to participate. Thought Indiana looked pretty decent last night, though they were hitting some incredible contested shots over and over again. NC State appears to be a good, but young, team with some upside. The worst call of the game was the flagrant. I get it's not really a flagrant call, but an intentional one, but that was still horses*** and completely flipped the game to IU. He was clearly playing the ball. Pritchard? (white dude, #25 I think for Indiana) made an even worse foul on a breakaway and it wasn't called. But whatever, credit Indiana for a good win. I'm very much looking forward to Zeller v. Leonard. Finesse v. power. Should be good. It will be a good matchup if Illinois finally gets wise and plays through Meyers. I am ready for conference play to start how bout you guys? -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) Rock, think Meyer will be able to hold onto/reel back in Brionte Dunn? I know he's not your favorite, but what were your impressions of him last night? #1 DE in the nation just said OSU is now at the top of his list. Meyer is very effective. -

I wonder if Ross will crack the rotation by the end of Dec once he joins the team. They havent even gone to Scott yet in this game. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) Rock, does OSU have any unofficial visitors (bball recruits) at this game tonight? Tremendous atmosphere and the team is playing fantastic. Not sure ill check, they only have room for like 1 recruit next year, the year after that is Matta's focus with Marc Loving. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) Rock, think Meyer will be able to hold onto/reel back in Brionte Dunn? I know he's not your favorite, but what were your impressions of him last night? Meyer is a slimy but effective recruiter, he called Dunn right after his press conference and told him he was going to run the power game with him. He was calling existing recruits and other team's all day today as well. I really like Ball, but I think they keep Dunn as well, most OSU fans are predicting a torrid recruiting run from here forward and knowing Meyer's past, I am guessing he is going to poach alot of talent from down south. He already stole Florida's recruiting coordinator. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) They are 6-point favorites. It's college b-ball, you always have to give an edge to the home team, even if OSU's home court advantage isn't as good as other teams. They are good at home, but this team is very different from Matta's teams of the past and its going to take them awhile to figure it out. His strength is depth, but it is extremely young and more athletic than basketball savvy. It would be nice to wipe the floor with Duke, I just think they have too much experience at this point. -

Minny just lost Mbakwe for the year. OSU isnt quite there yet, I would be surprised at the moment if they beat Duke. They very well could be better than them at the end of the year, but they are really too young to be as good as they can be. I will enjoy watching Craft/Lenzelle on Rivers. -
QUOTE (The Baconator @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) Whoa, where are you working in Boston? I just moved out here 3 months ago, working in the Inspector General's office. What neighborhood are you living in? No, just going there for the week.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) I would love this. I'm so tired of the f'n spread offense. Speaking of, got a good laugh when some analyst this weekend was talking about the impact Urban Meyer would bring with this newfangled thing called a spread offense. He apparently didn't know that a good chunk of the league (Illinois, Purdue and Michigan, and to an extent OSU and Indiana) already has the scheme in place, and has for a number of years. NW and Purdue have been running the spread for a long time. People are too concerned with the "titles" of schemes. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 11:11 AM) I'd say it depends if he knew about it. See, Joe Paterno was aware that Jerry Sandusky raped children for a decade and did nothing about it. Boehim seems to have been clueless in this regard, and the actions seem to not have been right under his nose. Yes, but we set the precedent that the coach is fired even with rumors and heresay as the source (unless the board knew for sure that it happened which I am pretty sure they did).
