  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 30, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) i dont know if I agree that the coverup was worse than the crime anymore. The coverup resulted in the findings of a lot of coverups, and what would be a lot of trips to the compliance office What were the other coverups? Nothing else has come out yet....
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2011 -> 10:01 AM) Who they land will depend on how bad the final sanctions placed on the program are IMO. If the sanctions are reasonable, and he's interesting in coaching again, obviously Urban Meyer will be far and away the guy. But, there's a lot to play out still with all of this. Obviously, this step had to happen. I really wonder if the athletic director Gene Smith should also lose his job, as all of this happened under his watch. Also, my first reaction was this is Ohio State trying to sneak one past the goalie since it's Memorial Day, but apparently Sports Illustrated is putting up a story on their website later today, and I saw a tweet from one of their writers saying something to the point of the timing of this will make sense after that story is released. So my guess would be that story is the reason it happened today. I'm curious to see how Ohio State fans respond to those five players that got this snowball started and led to today, particularly Pryor. Some hate those players, but in the end, all Tress had to do was walk down the hall to the compliance office. The coverup was much worse than the crime. And OSU is still one of the top openings in all of football and the best in the Big Ten. Regardless of any sanctions depending on whether the school gets dinged, they will have a good hire.
  3. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 30, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) Urban Meyer is a a complete dbag, that's what makes up most of it. I don't know what your opinion was of him before all this happened, but I'm sure you'd think he's the greatest guy ever if he goes to OSU. I hate his guts and don't think he would represent OSU in the way us fans would like a coach to.
  4. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ May 30, 2011 -> 09:04 AM) Are you referring to the Sports Illustrated article scheduled to come out this week? Will Pryor play another down for OSU? Part of it. They've had feelers out for his replacement for over a month, pretty sure they knew he had to be canned. And yes on Pryor.
  5. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 30, 2011 -> 08:43 AM) It still happened on the morning of a holiday, that's a fact. Hey, at least they made sure to get that Suger Bowl win first! If OSU lands Urban Meyer for 2012 I don't know if there will be a more hateable program in all of sports. Good edit. You hate OSU because you are a Big Ten fan, SEC fans probably wouldnt put the Buckeyes in their top 3 most hated teams and that goes for most every conference. It's a very attractive job, they'll land someone that will probably rub you the wrong way as well.
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 30, 2011 -> 07:29 AM) He gone Nice timing on the holiday trying to bury it Incorrect, he resigned before more bad info came out this week, and it's coming.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2011 -> 09:32 AM) No. The Pistons are trying to play hardball and demand a player back, due to the impending lockout. Id gladly take Rip on the bulls for next to nothing, dont want to pay for him though
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) Wow. If that is true OSU is screwed. Why exactly? That story wasnt bad at all. Its already been reported that the compliance dept reviewed every vehicle purchase made by the players, as they have to register them with the NCAA. I think thats stated pretty clearly in this story. It also states several times that there was no NCAA violation in the car sales. Ray Small came out today and refuted the report from before saying that he was misquoted.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 27, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) SS2K's right, Humber's gotten a bit lucky so far. His BABIP is only .210, part of the reason is that he's not allowing many line drives, but a .210 BABIP isn't sustainable. I think Humber could end up finishing the year with a ERA in the high 3s, a figure that is supported by his curent FIP and tERA. His 3's which is probably going to be better than at least 2 other members of the rotation.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 27, 2011 -> 10:37 AM) Well I would certainly agree with that. This is a classic example of the coverup being worse than the crime. I really don't think any of the stuff that has leaked out in recent months would have ever done so had he reported the emails immediately. If Tressel loses his job like eveybody thinks he will, he has nobody to blame but himself. He'll be canned before August. Some more info will come out about him somewhat unrelated to OSU and they will be forced to let him go. All of the player bulls*** that has come out is on the players, not the school so far.
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 27, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) I wish. 26 feels old. Thanks again, y'all. Its not, you wouldnt even be in for your big payday yet if you were in the majors.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) Shumpert is a great, very personable kid. He was unfortunate enough to play for a terrible coach, but I was blown away by his improvement from last year to this year. Just ask UNC fans what they think of Iman Jordan. Like I said earlier, there's no doubt in my mind he can be an elite defender in the NBA. He destroyed James Anderson in the Tournament a few years ago. Now I know who he is, big kid, looks to have a nice shot as well.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) Morris has some character concerns. He was not a good influence in the Michigan locker room apparently. I watched a lot of Michigan play last year, and Morris is a very good passer but provided little in terms of scoring. Oh s***, Shumpert is a Husky from OPRF??
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 27, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) Going forward, they probably should produce similarly. Damn it Phil Humber, why did you have to be so good? Did we ever think we'd have to make this kind of decision when the season started? I for sure didnt, I watched the guy pitch several times and he looked like a mechanical piece of garbage. The guy that has pitched for us the last several starts looks like a totally different person. He also added a slider which has been a big piece of the puzzle.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) Yes, the Bulls love Shumpert and it was the main reason he declared for the draft. His combine numbers were as good as anyone's seen in a long time. He'd be a great fit as a defensive point guard off the bench. His shooting isn't very good, but he's a great passer and someone who will flourish under better coaching. I simply am stunned that more experts don't have him as a first round pick. If I had to pick between Shumpert or someone like Darius Morris, it would be an easy decision. I dont know Shumpert very well but Darius Morris is no slouch.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 27, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Like how he stood pat at the deadline when the team desperately needed a SG? What other teams were snubbed by the "big Three"? Which of those teams ended up with the one seed? Parting with Asik for what was out there would have been dumb. This front office knows what they are doing.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 27, 2011 -> 11:01 AM) You have to bring 2 12 packs, thats how you roll in with tacos. I like ur style. I would like to add a couple of mexican pizzas to that order.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 27, 2011 -> 10:39 AM) Mark Cuban is what I would be if I were super rich and owned a sports team. I love the guy. Yup, me too. I would probably be worse, I would want to make alot of moves for the team myself and tamper the s*** out of them.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 27, 2011 -> 10:34 AM) I personally don't think either of them can, the Hawks and Detroit were the best hope in that department. I hope I'm wrong though, and that Vancouver is beaten obviously. I would agree Boston is the better team than Tampa Bay, but for some reason I feel like the Lightning and their firepower could really get into Luongo's head. The problem is their goalie situation is a mess. Thats why i give Boston the edge over TB. A hot goalie can ruin the Canucks if Bobby has a bad few games. Charra is also a nice piece to frustrate the physical Van forwards.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 27, 2011 -> 10:25 AM) If anything, his insane whip shows that's he's not doing this with smoke and mirrors. The guy has just been freakin fantastic so far. Do I expect him to keep going like this? Hell no. But to put your best starter in the bullpen because he makes the least amount of money(and lets be honest that's the ONLY reason he'd be going to the pen) is the sign of a terrible decision making organization. The guy has zero slider last night and still dominated Toronto, in Toronto. I believe that the kid has figured something out and you have to ride the hot hand while its hot.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 27, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) It wouldn't be worse than Ducks/Senators four years ago. But you're right, NBC is for sure praying Boston wins tonight, because Canucks/Lightning would be bad for them. I think it'd be an awesome hockey series to watch though (but so would Canucks/Bruins). I'm all for whoever can beat the Canucks, and IMO that is Boston.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Which was the entire basis of my thinking that Humber could be decent this year. But expecting him to be Cy Young? No that would be lunacy. So would have Loiaza. The tough part is Humber is out best starter right now. Giving that alot of arguments are made on this board to forget about a players history and start looking at results now, its funny that with Humber that is exactly something that is being preached not to do. It would be asinine to take the best pitcher you have up to this point out of your rotation.
  23. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 27, 2011 -> 08:34 AM) I don't really follow other NBA teams. Does Dallas have any nasty players? I think you need to get hard with James and Wade. I'm not talking Boozers stupid flagrant fouls at the worst time of the game. Although, I think both calls were borderline. Last night James was holding the ball right in front of his face on that drive. Boozer wasn't trying to hit him in the face, he has 2 flag fouls in his entire career. I think it was just typical piss poor defense and he missed the ball and hit James in the mouf. Boozer is an absolute waste of money and his lazy ass contributes nothing to this team. Players like him, at least in this stage of his career, are a dime a dozen. Anyway, someone on Dallas needs to take hard fouls early and often. If you're going to foul a dude, make it count. I have no doubt James will get out of his game if he's played like that. He did whatever he wanted against the Bulls, because they are a finesse team. Almost every foul the Bulls committed was ticky tack crap. They needed to find their inner Pistons circa 89. IMO that's how you beat this Heat team. We'll see if Dallas is up for the task. It wasnt how the Heat were defended at all during this series, the Bulls actually played them quite well, it was the Bull not being able to score at will on the Heat, especially at the end of games. Dirk will help quite a bit with that, its just the Mavs arent as good defensively as the Bulls.
  24. f*** it, good season, bad ending. Lots more of these battles with the Heat coming in the next few years, its gonna be a good show.
  25. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 26, 2011 -> 06:36 PM) Tate Forcier tried killing himself. Wow, no way.
