  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) reminds me of the infamous "Torii Hunter will be on the white sox by friday" post Now?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) BTW RockRaines, you're awesome! For once my weak inside info is true.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 12:25 AM) Which is why Jenks' value has been far too high all along - Jenks won't be traded for beyond his value to the person itself. If you don't need money or anything further, and a 1992 Honda Civic is worth $2000 to you, you will not sell that car for $1000, because it's worth $2000 to you. The White Sox need the further, but have the money to spend to fill said needs, and have other resources to acquire said need, if push come to shove. If someone had serious interest in Jenks at this point, they would have spoken up by now. I would say the certainty of Bobby Jenks being on the south side next year is right around the certainty that Gordon Beckham will be, and that would be 100%. I agree, they appear to be tarketing guys that can bookend with thornton for the set up role outside of Linebrinks balky arm. I bet they are shopping him the best they can as well.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 08:29 AM) Do you think that they cared about the Central Michigan players' feelings when Kelly left CMU to coach Cincy? No idea, its crazy that they showed that stuff on chicago news though. Oh and I hope this hurt's Cincy's recruiting in Ohio, but thats just for selfish reasons.
  5. Wow, finally saw the interviews with the Cincy players, they are PISSED.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) Our total offense couldn't be any higher than 80th. This was last year. I was just being sarcastic anyway, Kelly is a good coach.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) I like the sound of that. I want guys who WANT to be here. You can TIFWIW, but thats what I heard.
  8. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) In fairness, Cincy allowed only 20.1 points per game last year. They lost a lot of defensive starters. True, they were 24th in total defense. But only 45th in total offense behind powerhouses like iowa st.

QUOTE (chwhtsox @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) IDK man, when I walk into the big casinos I don't feel like I can win. Everything is so done up and I start thinking of all the poor schmucks (that thought they were going to win) it took to build that place. The electric bill alone has to be unreal. I don't want to contribute. When I go to O'sheas it seems like a neighborhood bar with gambling...everything from beer pong to guitar hero, you can't beat it. When I go back in January I'm staying at TheHotel @ Mandalay Bay but I'll be doing my gambling at O'sheas. LOVE playing at the Mandalay though, and the MGM.
  10. QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) I can't remember him ever blowing by two guys from the defensive zone like that, getting around the corner and attacking the net. He' like the kid from Mighty Ducks 2, great in a straight line, but he cant change directions or stop, as evidenced by his stopping himself with the boards. Awesome play. He's a beast.
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) All you have to do is look at any post from RockRaines in here and he talks about how bad their defense is.. They dont play defense. At all. +1 more for ya. I just dont understand how this is their hire of choice. Everyone clamors for a better defensive team and a guy who may be a better public figure than Weis, and they go and get basically the same guy that they had. Cincy is the #6 offense in the country. ND is the 9th. How much improvement is Kelly going to bring to ND on that side of the ball? I will say this, Weis is a much worse defensive coach than Kelly IMO, but they are both not what you'd call defensive minded. I believe CIncy was #48 and ND was somewhere in the 87 range.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 04:05 PM) yes, I am talking about similar assertive posts that did not come to fruition. HAHA, yes we all can report last min information that even surprises the Sox GM. Yesterday "it cooled off" Today: "an offer has been made." Putz has been pushing his agent to get him on the Sox.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) reminds me of the infamous "Torii Hunter will be on the white sox by friday" post You mean the deal that was done until Hunter went back on his word and signed with the Angels? That deal?
  14. He'll be signed by the end of next week.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) Wow. When the hell did Buff get fast? Is that sarcasm? He's always been blazing fast in a straight line.
  16. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 11:09 PM) Joyner and Luc have both committed this week. I find it interesting that since Bobby retired we have gotten 6 commitments. Hopefully we can switch one who is currently committed to UF. Wow, really thought Joyner was going to be a Buckeye. He's going to be a good one.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) It is in TI I believe. Had it a couple months back when I was last their. Already stoked to get back out there for my annual march madness trip. No better time for Vegas than March Madness. If you guys haven't done it, try it, it'll quickly become a ritual. Great hangover sandwich. I have done MM a few times in Vegas, there literally isnt a better time. a few years back when St Joes was making their run I saw a guy lose his entire savings and cry himself into a corner at circle bar in the Mandalay

O'Sheas is my home base. You'll find me there with a jack on the rocks betting stupid. There's also a new jewish deli in the mirage or the TI, cant remember which, but they are delicious CBeef sandwiches.
  19. I cant even watch the Bucks without Evan Turner, its going to be painful.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) Around the Winter Meetings: Putz, Crisp, Matsui, and More Crisp, Matsui and Putz would be nice moves IMO. Matsui fills the LH DH spot with power and RBI's Crisp plays good D and has produced a decent OBP. Putz is Dotel's replacement.
  21. I would trade Quentin of 2009 thats for sure.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) Rock, What if Texas refuses to play TCU, or OSU wont play Cincy? How is that remedied? Basketball is easier because there are 30 games and about 13 are OOC. In football you have 12 games, 4 OOC and if you lose 1 you may have just ruined your chance at a NC title game. There is no incentive for OSU to play Cincy. If OSU goes undefeated, they likely are in the NC game, all playing Cinci does is add risk. True. I know from experience that OSU will play almost any in state team and isnt afraid of scheduling OOC opponents like Texas, USC, Miami, VT, Navy etc. BUt I agree that there are some issues with all teams wanting to make life easier on themselves rather than test their teams. Teams like OSU have proven that cupcake schedules without a loss are just as good as a tough road with 1 or 2 losses if not better. Thats largely the problem in CFB.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) Then youll get arguments such as: No one would play TCU, etc. A lot of the problem is that the schedule is made years in advance that some times what looked like a good game turns out to be bad one. How do basketball teams figure that out then? I see top programs playing top ones consistently. Out of conference matchups need to be a staple of teams that really want to be national champions, bar none. Every national championship team has played a difficult game out of conference that I can remember, or in the case of the SEC, a downright brutal title game. I dont know, those teams need to not be scared of playing a better team. Cincy should have OSU on their schedule every year IMO. TCU should play Texas, Boise should continue to play Pac-10 top tier teams.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) If the playoffs started today, I'd be in the "start Niemi" corner. I'd actually go Huet. Niemi has looked good, but so has Huet.
  25. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 05:09 PM) Every NCAA basketball team has a chance. They can win their conference tourney. What more winning could TCU/Cincy/Boise have done? And even if it's somewhat arbitrary to have 64 rather than 54 or 74 or 44, it provides far, far, far more margin of error. Does anyone even recall legitimate title contenders getting denied a tourney birth? That happens *every year* with the BCS. They could have played someone better than they did. If they beat numerous ranked opponents and another team didnt, then they would be ranked higher than them. Pretty straight forward actually.
