  1. I just really want to see who the PTBL are. Please tell me Gordon is not one of them, that would just suck.
  2. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) I would do that in a heartbeat. Those guys are so far away that I can live giving them up. As good as both could be, they both had real rough times at Old Dominion, so regression is real possible, too. Hudson is so good though.
  3. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) Linebrink needs to get on the phone actually. Line, Coop, Buehrle, Thome, Obama
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) I think this could show KW's strategy for the Sox in a year or so. Build around high-priced pitching and go with young offensive players. We have some young pitching about 3+ years away, so this could be a nice transition to that.
  5. So, how long would this phone call last? Come on Jake, you'll love it here, we have fans that know about the game, fireworks and lots of tailgating!!! Whoooooo!
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:45 AM) Acquiring Peavy will just prove my point. The one you told me was wrong. I just don't want to see the BS if he says no and KW goes back to his $.50 routine wondering if they will be able to pay the electric bill. Dude, stop.
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:39 AM) That's because they were so recently traded/drafted right? Right, Danks and Becks COULD be a PTBL, but its not very likely.
  8. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:38 AM) Jake Peavey amps traded for Sean Marshall amps. Cubs got robbed there.
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:36 AM) Our rotation would finally get the long-awaited ACE. We've always had great twos, but never that true ACE (Esteban was that for one year) for a few years. Peavy, Buehrle and Danks is nasty if you get to the playoffs. Unless he Zito's on us and just turns into a cash sucker.
  10. Were the Pad's scouts there when Poreda threw his "no hitter"? That would be funny. Come on Jake, pull the trigger.
  11. Please, lets Cutler this s***! No Beckham, Danks or Flowers and lets get it done. (im well aware they would have to be PTBL)
  12. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:30 AM) I would hope they could spare the hitting prospects, but if they had to I would give up Allen. First baseman are easier to find than catchers (even though I think Flowers moves). I think Getz, Allen, Poreda, Richard would be a lot to give up, but wouldn't set us back at all. The Pads need a SS, would you give up Alexei?
  13. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) What's in the best interest for the Padres is for them to receive some prospects and help them for the future. Exactly, and I hope the Pads ownership sits down with him, says this is the best deal they could get and pack his bags. I still want to see who is included because I know the names are going to sting to alot of people on here. And when I say sting, im not talking about watching Cunningham rob fly balls in the outfield sting, but a top prospect, how could they let him go type of sting.
  14. So if they've agreed, why cant we hear who the players are? Poreda Richard Alexei? Getz? Allen? Flowers? We know Flowers was a player they wanted from the Braves.
  15. They are expecting a quick decision, which I think means a no, "im too big of a pussy to pitch to DH's"
  16. It was said Eck and Getz may swap teams here to we can lead off with Eck.
  17. Who are these "people" that these players have that are feeding lines to the media. And why is Peavy so scared to pitch in the AL? PLenty of good arms throw in the AL, you dont think you are one of them?
  18. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:14 AM) The only thing I am concerned about is if this is the deal that is being thrown out there to have a team(most likely the Brewers) sweeten the pot. Kind of like what happened with the Miguel Cabrera trade to detroit Right, and by naming player's names, teams have a target to shoot over. Not many teams would be willing to give up a Poreda and Richard though, Im sure the Cubs and Brewers dont even have two arms like that to give.
  19. I hate to say it since he is supposed to be such a great guy, but D Lee looks about 20-30 lbs lighter than a few seasons ago. He is downright skinny.
  20. I love the comments on the Cubs board saying why would he want to go to the Sox since we arent set up for the future like the Cubs are.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) When this trade falls through, will KW be willing to pick up salary elsewhere? He obviously isn't at his limit. I'm hoping he has something else in store, because this deal doesnt look too likely if Peavy is having a bunch of other people communicate that he wants to go somewhere in the weakest division in baseball.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:01 AM) I have a hard time believing Flowers would be traded too. We have absolutely no other catching prospects and AJ is getting up there in age. The guy i'm most worried about being included is Brandon Allen Ah, I'd give up Allen for Peavy. If it was Richard and Poreda, who I think of as two pen arms, and a bat who COULD be good, you'd have to do it. Oh and if Getz was included, it would be alot easier now seeing how good Nix could be.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) The update from WSCR is that the only pitcher on the 25 man roster in this deal is Clayton Richard. Also Aaron Poreda is in the deal, the other two are not known for sure and they didn't speculate. No more mention of Giles/Dye like there was in the first hour. This is coming from Joe Cowley FWIW. The name Poreda, Richard, Getz and Flowers have been floated around. I dont see Danks or Beckham being a PTBL in a deal like this for how much Peavy would cost us.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) Why would you seriously doubt that the Sox are going to run the players that give them the best chance to win out there? If FLoyd keeps getting lit up, they will get him out of the rotation, I have no doubt about that. Because they have invested so much in him as a top of the line starter for this team, the positives of trying to let him work his way out of his funk far outweight the possible negatives of moving him to a pen role and him never coming out of it. He's a starter, either here, or somewhere else.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 13, 2009 -> 07:40 AM) This is a good call. Places like Stanley's (produce market at North and Elston) are a great example. I go there at least once a week, probably going this afternoon as well.
