QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) If Floyd is still pitching scared, and Contreras has his forkball back, while Richard is giving the squad, respectable work, you can bet your ass Floyd would go to the pen. The Sox aren't afraid of changes. I seriously doubt it, and Floyd's problem isnt confidence as much as its a small mechanical flaw. The best medicine for him is to run him out there.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 20, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Anaheim was the perfect matchup for Detroit and in general is a team that is built very well for the playoffs. They are a big physical hockey team that can really give Detroit problems. Chicago on the other hand is a skilled team going up against the most skilled team in the league. Yup, with 2 top tier D men as well. Something we are SUPPOSED to have. -
Just finished "I hope they Serve Beer in Hell" by Tucker Max. Hilarious

There is no way in hell they would put Gavin in the pen or on waivers, thats just a retarded argument. He is one of their young guns that they have invested a hell of alot more than they have in other players, he'll pitch every 5th day or go on the DL. Since he isnt hurt, but only is out of rythmn, he should be out there every turn until he figures it out.

To be honest, its the first month that is the hardest. Once you get that rock over the hill and you start actually feeling better day to day, its easier to continue your routine. Eating healthy and working out will improve alot of areas of your life, your energy, your sleep, your sex life, your looks etc. When I started really getting back into working out, and this is cheesy, I taped the fattest looking picture of me I could find on the fridge. Every day I woke up to get breakfast it was like a cup of coffee for the day. Once you start seeing results in 30+days your motivation will be to get to your goal and past it.

Ugh, ridicilous steal at the end now that I've watched it again. Its those breaks and bonehead plays that are going to keep us behind the wings. And I am not sure what game the players saw saying they could of won 6-2. It appeared to me like the Det defense kept us out of the middle all day and we were throwing half ass wish shots towards the net while the Wings had clear looks all day. Our defense is completely being outplayed in this series. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) Has Fields caught any like that lately? I think his defense is suffering also He's played some solid D lately. -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 19, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) So I am a pretty experienced runner, but I've still never received solid answers on pre-race nutrition. So what should I eat the night before and the morning before? I am planning to wake up at 5 a.m. for the 7 a.m. race and eat pretty much right when I get up. Carbo load the night before, eat a small meal early and a power bar or powergel before.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 19, 2009 -> 02:54 PM) You're missing a few steps in there. The guy dies > The right guy takes over > The right guy hires the right guy > The right guys get games on tv > The right players had already been drafted > The right decisions were made in the front office > The team performs well last year > The team gets The Classic > The team makes the playoffs > The team gets fans The first domino is the most important. If this team makes the playoffs with Dollar Bill alive, they dont lead the league in attendance, they dont score the highest TV ratings ever for the franchise, they dont get a Winter Classic and so on.

The Ghost of Duncan Keith, he has been WORTHLESS for 5 games now. Seabs and Keith at -4 for the series. Its a good thing Barker, Hjalms and Soup are playing well. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 19, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) So you dislike Poreda, because his mechanics remind you of that of both Liriano and Wood, two pitcher who have/had demonstrated that they were fantastic talents at the major league level, who both pitched their teams into playoff, and went down with an injury for a variety of reasons, one of which was being horribly overworked? I’ll take some Wood-like years from Poreda. I didnt see him make that correlation at all. Both of those guys had WAYYYYY better stuff than Poreda does. Personally I was hoping we'd trade Poreda this season if we were in contention for that last piece.

QUOTE (Molto @ May 19, 2009 -> 03:32 PM) I've watched him a few times, which is enough for me to gauge a pitchers delivery. Not having a secondary pitch doesn't help, of course. I think he is a pen guy as well, I dont see how he can have a repeatable plus breaking ball with that delivery. I think he become a sinker/slider guy out of the pen.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) How stubborn do you have to be to have people tell you that the only way you're ever going to be a big leaguer long-term and make anything more than a pittance in earnings is to make changes and for you to not do them? These guys have been the best player around them for their entire life, they've been told by people around them how good they were. I dont blame them for being stubborn really. Of course the first time he failed at the big league level should have been a wakeup, apparently it wasnt.

Braves fans were correct, the kid is garbage. His swing and approach need to be made over 100% for him to succeed in baseball. Methinks it never happens.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 19, 2009 -> 10:37 AM) Yup, I was expecting it. It was a very funny finale. I thought it was terrible and cheesy, the leaping ending was gay. They also apparently taped that a long time ago because Robin was barely pregnant in it and as we all saw, her and Lilly are busting and the seams.

QUOTE (WCSox @ May 15, 2009 -> 01:48 AM) As was mentioned earlier in this thread, Jose's arm tends to drop down when he's not healthy. This was evident when he began experiencing back problems a few years ago, and he's practically been throwing sidearm again this season. And whether it's pain or atrophy, I could easily see his not-quite-100% Achilles messing up his release point (just as his back did). I disagree, his drop down 2-seamer in 05-06 was one of his best pitches and he threw it because it was unhittable, not because he wasnt healthy.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ May 14, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) I know he looked great in Spring Training, but he needed to have an extended spring. That's just me though. Yup, his feel pitches are garbage and his release point is all f***ed up. Its going to take awhile after an injury like that to be yourself again. Maybe the original diagnosis was more accurate than we thought. He needs to pound the strike zone with his fastball in every start until he gets that down, then move to adding a slider, fork, etc. Work your way back.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 19, 2009 -> 12:09 AM) Ditto. Heard about this program a long time ago but like you said, it's very pricey not to mention your still buying stuff for a pull up bar, muscle drinks, food, perhaps weights, etc.. Though I heard the nutrition plan is very good, but I lack the common sense in direction so... Pull up bar and weights will set you back about 50 bucks total. I wouldnt waste money on drinks unless you really think you need it. Go to beachbody.com and check the forums and people's success stories. Go on facebook and do the same. It works. I would also be in favor of burning the series for folks for a nominal fee as long as you dont get me sued.

I read it in a more simpler way. Jacob is under the impression that humans are inherently good, Essau (or whatever) is under the impression they are inherently corrupt and bad. Jacob brings people to the island, and monitors them externally to prove that they can ultimately be good, the other guy does similar things to prove that they are bad. They already know the outcome of the arc, but Jacob states that any progress, or signs of people being good, is a good thing. I see it as just the basic struggle between a good and evil being in this utopia.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 18, 2009 -> 02:32 PM) Been that way for a few years now it seems. We've been out scouted for years. Steve Stone could probably provide more insight on how to attack opposing hitters as well. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 18, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) Didn't see the game till the 8th, but it looks like my boy Clayton Richard was better than most of our starters in this road trip. He was very good today. He nipped the strike zone a bit, but at least challenged hitters and had a plan. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) So Walker is in charge of sending in PH. Who sends in PR and makes out the line-up card? Its Ozzie's decision not Walker's. Correct. Its Ozzie's call ultimately, but he relies on his coaches to dictate matchups, etc. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) So its Walker's fault Ozzie doesn't pinch hit for Fields? Yet another new low in the Greg Walker bashing. Ozzie relies on his coaches ie: Cooper and Walker to be the first line in those decisions, so yes. Ozzie obviously ultimately can make any call at any time, but he delegates those decisions to his coaches for the most part. Sorry if that looked like "bashing" to you, its just reality.
