  1. god this tampa bay bullpen has been unreal...balfour threw hittable fastballs last two times weve seen him this series and we havent been able to capitalize...lets see if we can change that
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 04:12 PM) The thing that sucks about using Carrasco today is that means we'll probably have to use Russell tomorrow in the continuation game. not sure where we left off in their lineup, but with markakis, huff and roberts, the toughest outs in their lineup i would say we might see thornton if he doesnt pitch tonight...
  3. that was a ball to aybar??? didnt matter i guess , but this has relaly been a poorly umpired series IMO
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) I will trade 0.45 points of OPS for Young's defense over Swisher's anytime. considering the difference in ops is almost entirely obp driven, and after adjusting for league factors, id rather have vazquez in the rotation and swisher in the OF over young anytime
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) Awesome OC....only about 30 more games with you. im hopin for somewhere in the 40s, but hopefully we get type A compensation for him...assuming we offer him arb.
  6. alot of guys in this league hit that last pitch from howell a long, long way...cabrera popped it up
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) There's no way this team is going anywhere without Linebrink. I guess it's easier to use that as a crutch, but the fact is that our bullpen and defense haven't been supporting our pitchers at all this season. Here's another area where the Chris Young trade has hurt. With Quentin in LF and Dye in RF, we need a much better CFer than Swisher. We can't easily trade Konerko, yet Swisher's best position is 1B and then we have Thome, who I have a sneaking suspicion will be a White Sox next year...and, at this point, the idea of Thome back (even though he's been very good offensively the last 2 months) just gives me no faith the 3 run homer nature of this team will ever change. chris young has a .306 on base percentage....that chris young trade really hasnt hurt at all
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) Terrible start by Buehrle. he was fine....if we had a defense today he would have been through 7 or 8 with only 2 runs
  9. for a guy with 100+ Ks iwamura sure seems difficult to put away
  10. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) blue jays tied up the bosox but minny takes a 1-0 lead
  11. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) 12, but should be way more. Uribe @ SS> Cabrera @ SS and its not even close....
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:52 PM) This will be the first time since April the White Sox have been 1.5 games out of first place. Marcum has fallen completely out of the major leagues after leading the AL in ERA in April and May, which means we will be lucky if Minnesota sees either Burnett or Halladay. The way Minnesota is playing with all the momentum on their side, and with Liriano's resurgence, they could sweep through Oakland and Seattle. good thing we are already giving tonights game to minnesota
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:45 PM) Maybe Top 50 Adulterers top 50 juicers too, just behind geovany soto
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) One big rebuttal....MLB wants nothing to do with Tampa in the postseason. If you think they'd rather have Tampa over Boston or New York, you're crazy. no but i think mlb would rather have boston + tampa with one as a WC instead of the wc coming from the central...again, im not implying at all that the reason for the success of TB is mlb umpiring...far from that ....but along this arguement, i think next to boston and new york, tampa would be maybe the next best team for tv playoff ratings nationally..
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) How about maybe if the umpires don't like a particular person on a team, such as the manager? In no way is this my typical shot at Ozzie, but after seeing how bad the umps have been towards the Sox this year, is this their retribution? yeah possibly, but after all the sports scandals....and just business scandals period, in dealing with the billions of dollars professional sports bring in....wouldn't you try to do everything possible to make "the good story lines" actually succeed? im not implying that this game right here is fixed at all, or has any sort of unfair officiating, im just saying that if a story came out that said the rays, or cubs were helped out a bit, it wouldnt shock me
  16. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) that was one of the worst strike calls i have ever seen. im not saying that i think games are fixed or that anyone is out to get us at all, but after the tim donaghy scandal and the way the Scott Foster phone calls were just swept under the rug by the NBA, i am beginning to think its a bit naive to not at least consider the possibility that officials in all sports are "encouraged" to call close plays one way or another
  17. WTF ARE YOU JOKING?! this has been a horrible umpired series
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) I can't wait for the expose after he's gone detailing just how much of a tool he is. lets just pray garland helps us out tonight
  19. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) For a guy with no range, he sure manages to screw up the balls hit at him, too. Sweet Jesus. his D was just horrendously overrated from all accounts we heard before this year.... he may be the third best SS on this team, but hes definitely second best
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:28 PM) So when we trade Poreda to get someone like Chad Bradford, you'd be satisfied when the White Sox are 72-90 in 2010? chad bradford was traded for a PTBNL which will not even be close to anything as good as poreda, what are you talking about?
