  1. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) Could Len Kasper possibly stroke the Cubs and their fans more? Reed Johnson tries to bunt for a single, and he's "unselfish." He hits a 1-1 pitch for a bouncing double, and he's had a "quality at-bat." Oh, and even though 1/3 of the seats appear to now be empty, "not many people have left the ballpark." i used to not mind kasper and brenely...and in general i still like brenely...but i have soured on len kasper as a broadcaster so much....god he is so annoying...his voice squeeks more than 13 year old in puberty
  2. haha no seriously...sometimes just a sox tshirt + sox fitted "franchise" hat....or a dye/AJ jersey or a black jersey type thing with the sock inside the diamond on it
  3. the cubs have faced like 1 above average starter since they faced sheets on july 28th since then.... parra, bush, karstens, maholm, snell, Moehler, sampson, Backe, looper, wellemeyer, carpenter (still spring training for him), morton, campillo, glavine, josh johnson (decent, but his first start back), anibal sanchez (solid), Volstad, Cueto, Arroyo, Fogg honestly its criminal how bad the NL is...that is an absolute joke, especially when you consider they face lannan, odalis perez (!), bergmann, snell, jason davis and duke in their next 6....seriously that is such a pathetic league
  4. poreda good so far....5 IP 0 ER 4 H 5K 2BB beckham..meh 1-4 with a single thus far
  5. orton can actually step up and get a throw off in the face of pressure....this is a good decision
  6. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Don't forget about Yaz, cuz Hawk can't and the man batting.... though i must admit...raul ibanez is legit....IMO one of hte most underrated players in the game
  7. i know we dont want to mess with a good thing right now...but i really think this team would benefit from swapping AJ and Swisher in the lineup....especially with the way swisher has been able to get on base, and with the hot bats of CQ JD and JT
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) Big double play turned by A's. To the 9th, 3-2 A's. jason kubel: .800 average vs. CHW .037 vs. rest of league or at least thats how it seems
  9. alexei has his faults (plate discipline) but the guy probably misses the fewest mistake pitches of anyone on our team
  10. it was a foul ball but that 2-0 swing from konerko was really nice to see....good indication he's figuring things out....
  11. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) i wonder if carrasco will get another inning? guy has been a savior in our pen.....if we can somehow win this thing the innings this guy has been able to eat up will have been a big part in it
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) That game would be Altered Beast it was altered beast and that s*** worked too...dye was horrendous to start and then got hot and carried us for a while....right when he made that sig ive always wanted to bring that sig back this year for PK
  13. i know he won the cape HR crown (wood bats) but its still nice to see the early power from gordon as he makes the full time switch to wood
  14. i hope bert blylevan never makes the HOF if for no other reason than the guy is just a huge asshole
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) Yep, time for BA. i have no idea what is gonna happen with dwayne wise once we need another starter and linebrink comes back up...but if he doesnt get into a game like todays, he may as well be the odd one out
  16. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 04:51 PM) Only 3 teams in the AL have a negative run differential. That boggles my mind should be 4 by the end of this game...but that really tells you how well the AL played vs. the NL in interleague, the NL is such a joke...look at how well the guys who switched from AL to NL have done...i mean seriously that league is littered with players who are performing above average for their league, that got run out of the AL or were scrubs
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) Anyone else really excited about Paulie's resurgence? Getting him back is what will put the Sox over the top, imo. Its like they are going from the worst first baseman in baseball to one of the better ones (He's been looking pretty darn good, imo). Definitely looking healthy again. in terms of walk rate this has been konerkos best year...which is rather perplexing...im still disappointed in his power output though, but there are signs he is gaining it back
  18. nice to see the sox coming at cust with all junk after game 1
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 04:45 PM) I have to say this...Gio's start today might have been the worst I've seen against the Sox in a long time. yeah i agree....especially considering he was lucky to give up "only" 8 ....marquis during that cardinals series comes to mind...
  20. we are one game back of boston for the W.C. too....should be .5 if we hold this current 8-0 lead...
  21. barton not helping gio out.... joe nathan has a 1.04 ERA now....jebus
