Wilson Contreras
I know this is shitty because there is no evidence but I've learned from the Steroid Era. Wilson Contreras is 34 years old. He should be declining; however lets look at his current season. Wow! What a great season. When is the last time Wilson Contreras slugged over 500? He did it once his age 27 season in 2019! That makes sense to me. When is the last time he OPS over 900? Never has done it. Now, I hate pooping on somebody's success. However, Im a little skeptical of the drastic improvement being done at age 34.

8/5 Games
He walked three in four innings tonight. I know it's one night. So let's look at how he did in the big leagues when he was up. 44 innings with 21 walks. Good for 4.26/9. Not great. From what I remember, guys were able to foul balls off, extend at-bats, thus leading to more walks.

The issue with Thorpe is he doesn't have velocity, so you need elite command. Does he have that?

Poll - Grade the Sox’s Deadline
I gave many of you a C. And, like some are pointing out, it was a seller's market. We have no idea what the price tag for a player like Deitmers or Stephenson was. Angels are the Angels and the Reds decided to compete. I can't even blame them for that, even though I think it's unlikely they make the playoffs. Castillo trade was an overpay. Castillo for Dominguez straight up would probably have been fine. Starting pitching is a premium, and if you think you can fix him, it's a risk, but sure. To me, throwing in Boston Smith makes it an overpay, and yes, I'm sure I am overvaluing Boston Smith. The best trade was the Mets trade. Getting a controllable reliever, even at 36 is a nice addition. Joey Bart- Whatever. Maybe is a marginal plus addition, but man, it would be nice to make a move for a more substantial catcher. What I am happy about is that we didn't move off of any of our true prospects for mid-tier additions. At this point, If we can just get into the dance- that's a great season for us. The work to become a perennial World Series contender needs to come in the off-season.

Well, The Sox really must feel Teel is coming back sooner rather than later.

Cubs get Clay Holmes, Taylor per Bob
Wow. It's definitely a seller's market.

I think at the bare minimum a right-handed hitting catcher. If they come away with at the deadline that- we are in good shape.

Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
He has 1500 career at-bats in Colorado and has a 670 OPS. This is no small sample size to work off of. The only other thing I would say is that Getz and team have been very good about fixing swings. Maybe they think there is a fix here that makes him a serviceable 4th outfielder. But man, surprise Mason Adams value is that low.

Did we overestimate what people around the league though of Mason Adams. I mean, what a dog s%*# return.

Mason Adam’s pulled from starting tonight
How about Luke Weaver. He is having a great year- controlled next year. Yankees probably not making another move. Would people be upset at a Luke Weaver for Mason Adams trade?

Mason Adam’s pulled from starting tonight
I don’t see White Sox trading Bonemer. Right handed power is by far the largest commodity in the game.

While Sox / Mets had rumored Peralta framework
The only reason you trade for Peralta if you think you can fix him and quickly do it. There is a risk that he is no better than Fedde.
-
7/29 Games
That right handed power is going to be welcomed next year.
-
7/22 Games
Yeah- I saw that. So, probably not happening.

7/22 Games
Kade Anderson for Caleb Bonemer- who says no? Seattle has the pitching and White Sox have middle infielders.

White Sox - Injury Tracker
This is great news for Teel. I thought it was an Achilles injury or even a strained calf. The fact that its an ankle, even if it is a high ankle, is much better news. I hope they are conservative with the timetable. Lower body injuries compound on themselves without significant rest.

Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
I am not saying don’t trade. I just think getting another starter is a way higher priority than catcher. We can’t go into a playoff series with only two reliable starters. Anthony Kay or Eric Fedde should not be starters in a 7 game series.

Boston Smith
I can't believe I'm writing this post, but given the Teel injury, does Boston Smith deserve a shot in the big leagues? It would be a heck of a story a guy going from Class A Kannapolis to MLB roster. However, Romo and Quero are not exactly tearing it up. Smith is twenty-three years old so this is not like rushing a 19-year-old up to Pro Ball. A little bit more about Smith, 2026 year below: he was just called up to AA ball, so the sample size is very small; however, he has torn it up so far. Now, I'm not advocating it right now, but if he continues to scorch the ball in August, I would bring him up. Guys like this are a little like house money. I feel like he has higher upside than anybody in the organization at catcher beyond Teel. The one thing I don't know is his defense. Obviously, being a catcher, there is a lot to the position. Thoughts? Am I just being irrationally reactionary?

Trade Ideas/Rumors/Proposals Thread
I don't really want to trade for Deitmers or anybody of significance unless the trade is clearly an underpay from our perspective. The team is still growing and young. I don't have expectations of a World Series this year. The team got good by developing young players. The other item is having additional years of control, is nice. However, what are they going to be valued at given what next year could be, which is probably a shortened season? I would probably do Carlson and Quero for Deitmers as my high package. My thought process is we have a significant amount of middle infielders in Meridoth, Antonocci, Montgomery, Cholowosky, Thome, and Prosek. I would imagine two of that combination hold it down for the next 10-12 years. They could like Quero and feel like he is fixable. However, I would not trade any young pitching as this is something we are lacking.

Official 2026 MLB Draft Thread - Picks & Discussion
Do you think there is play for Contreras in the 4th round? I would think just by guessing: 1st Pick: Roch- Underslot 34th: Pick: Thomas- Slot Value 41st: Pick: Prosek- Over Slot Value- I just have a feeling they had to pay him. 77th Pick: Volchko- Slot Value 105 Pick: Hopefully Contreras with a little extra money they saved from Roch

Official 2026 MLB Draft Thread - Picks & Discussion
Man, I hope Landon Thome can be our new Jacob Gonzalez. Lol. What an interesting trade on a few different organizational levels. I wonder if JR had something to do with the pick, and Getz wanted somebody with the 2nd round pick. It will be interesting to see who that draft pick will be. However, its not like Landon Thome was some exception reach. I think MLB had him as the 34th player on their board and Fangraphs had him at like early 50s. Law also said in his chat that Thome was worthy of the 34th pick and he is the first one to point out flaws in the White Sox draft strategy in the past.

Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
Quick takes from this trade: Probably Roch tomorrow. Makes the draft even more fun tomorrow. I feel like we got 85 cents on the dollar. I understand why you would think to move Gonzalez, but feel like we are just a bit short considering the season he had. I wonder if this constrains us from being able to trade him for an MLB piece for the backend of our pen. It makes me think that Getz won't be a buyer at the deadline because Gonzalez was a piece you could move. Oh no, Brandon Eisert! ( just kidding) I do like the White Sox prioritizing the draft. Now, please do so with the international market.

I think we are going to be seeing McDougal in the MLB bullpen pretty soon.
