  1. Do you think there is play for Contreras in the 4th round? I would think just by guessing: 1st Pick: Roch- Underslot 34th: Pick: Thomas- Slot Value 41st: Pick: Prosek- Over Slot Value- I just have a feeling they had to pay him. 77th Pick: Volchko- Slot Value 105 Pick: Hopefully Contreras with a little extra money they saved from Roch
  2. Man, I hope Landon Thome can be our new Jacob Gonzalez. Lol. What an interesting trade on a few different organizational levels. I wonder if JR had something to do with the pick, and Getz wanted somebody with the 2nd round pick. It will be interesting to see who that draft pick will be. However, its not like Landon Thome was some exception reach. I think MLB had him as the 34th player on their board and Fangraphs had him at like early 50s. Law also said in his chat that Thome was worthy of the 34th pick and he is the first one to point out flaws in the White Sox draft strategy in the past.
  3. At least that was not predictable. LOL.
  4. I would not mind one of the lefties Burmila or Carlon with our pick
  5. Quick takes from this trade: Probably Roch tomorrow. Makes the draft even more fun tomorrow. I feel like we got 85 cents on the dollar. I understand why you would think to move Gonzalez, but feel like we are just a bit short considering the season he had. I wonder if this constrains us from being able to trade him for an MLB piece for the backend of our pen. It makes me think that Getz won't be a buyer at the deadline because Gonzalez was a piece you could move. Oh no, Brandon Eisert! ( just kidding) I do like the White Sox prioritizing the draft. Now, please do so with the international market.

I think we are going to be seeing McDougal in the MLB bullpen pretty soon.
  7. Thanks Man. Just want to say- I see the post almost everyday you put on the minor league threads. Appreciate It! Happy Draft Day! ( Little Early)
  8. To be clear, I'm not a scout — just a diehard who watches the draft, follows box scores, and reads other people's write-ups. Occasionally I'll flip on a minor league game to catch some of the bigger names pitch. I only did 10. Caleb Bonemer — No argument here from anybody, I think. Hagen Smith — Left-handed pitching is going to be more important than ever with the new rules in place. Teams are stacking lefties now. Even a bullpen arm that can go 2–3 innings is super valuable. David Sandlin — I just like the stuff. Control will obviously be the factor here. Jacob Gonzalez — The numbers don't necessarily say it, but he took big league at-bats and didn't look overmatched. We haven't seen him tap into the power he showed in Triple-A yet, but that doesn't mean it's not there. Billy Carlson — The pre-draft write-up last year was glove-first, questionable bat, and the numbers so far back that up. But he's young. Tanner McDougal — His floor is a power arm out of the pen. Jaden Fauske — Not a bad start to his minor league career. Mason Adams — There's a back-end starter here. Christian Oppor — Who knows. A true coin flip of a prospect. George Wolkow — He's hit better lately and is still so young.
  9. Give me one of the two college kids. Both are right-handed and play good defense. The good defense part gives them a solid floor, and the upside still exists to be all-stars. What more do you want even out of a 1/1? Nobody is a sure Hall of Famer out of the draft.
  10. I think Law said that negotiations don't really begin between 36 and 48 hours before the draft. This could be positioning. I may be the minority, but if Lackey is an elite catcher, then it would be hard for me not to draft me. I know we have Teel, but keeping both fresh would be incredible. I don't think Sam Anatocci is the left fielder of the future. Eventually, I can see him moving to 2nd and Meridoth being the best utility guy in the league.
  11. I wonder if they are trying to get one of them at an underslot value. Any chance you think they could trade for one of the comp picks? I don't know what they would give up or even the correct value for something like that. The other thing, I wonder if they are talking to Roch or Emerson about moving off of shortstop. Before this year, I think most of us were skeptical about Montgomery staying at shortstop. However, with the emergence of Vargas and Monty playing a good shortstop, I would assume( Roch especially) would have to move to 2nd base or centerfield. Roch's timeline would probably be a year in the minors with the expectation that by 2028 opening day, he would be in the MLB. I believe Montgomery would still have four years of control at that point.
  12. I don't think your far off in your assessment. I am really interested to see how the White Sox deploy both Smith and McDougal. Both could really help our bullpen problem. I know people often hesitate to give up on them as starters, but if they made the transition in September, that would be the better option for us at this point. I would say its there is a good chance both are ultimately destined for the pen.
  13. I think there is a good chance the Padres are looking to trade Machado or Bogaerts with packaging Mason Miller with one of them to get them off their books. I don't think Boegarts that is really possible but maybe with Machado. To be clear, they would need to eat a good portion of that contract still.
  14. Probably not. Padres sent Leo De Vries to get Mason Miller. If they were able to get back a top-20 prospect, that would be a huge win for them. I think Hagen Smith with another prospect would be interesting for us, though.
  15. It's going to be fine. Every team has these types of games. I think they put a stat on the screen that said the White Sox had either the 2nd or 3rd best record in one-run games. We have walked off, I believe, 7 games this year. Sometimes it happens in reverse. Let's see how the team responds and go from there.
  16. I am just going to s%*# on this because of the process. 1. Again, the idea we had to get rid of Roberts' salary to clear the way to sign a reliever for ten million dollars a year is absurd. 2. Why are we embracing flip candidates? I will get excited when we actually start building a sustainable roster with good players, rather than just signing them to reasonable deals only to trade them away to contending teams. 3. I stil believe that Robert is undervalued here. The truth is find centerfielders who are gold glovers, steal 40 bases and hit 20 home runs a year is very rare. I understand that he will only play 120 games. However, that's his floor. That's not a bad floor for a team that has very few good players on it. 4. I really liked watching Luis. He was exciting to watch. I will miss him and hope he reaches his potential with the Mets.
  17. For the life of me, the money they saved by trading away Robert. We have all minimum wage dudes on this roster.
  18. I think sometimes the writers get mixed up in the results for pitchers rather than stuff.
  19. When you are a bad team, you take your swings on upside. So very few centerfielders can hit. Its a name that you know. And honestly, he seems like a good dude. Just can't produce or stay healthy consistently.
  20. I love Baldwins big daddy cuts. Doesn’t get cheated.
  21. Just want to say I love watching Luis Robert Jr. He is just a fun player. And the white sox are finally having other players who are fun. From just a watching standpoint, he helps me watch a white sox game. They still suck but its more of a fun suck. f*** you Jerry.
  22. Judging from the Mullins return, lets just hold onto him. We have zero payroll going into next year. If he bounces back to a plus 800 hitter, he will be worth so much more. I know thats a big IF, but the alternative is the Cedric Mullins return which is blah anyways.

I hope Colson will be our McKenzie Gore. At some point, Gore was a can't-miss prospect. Then he went through a few years where he had trouble throwing in the strike zone. Even after his call-up, he was not exactly dominant. A bunch of publications soured on his likelihood of being a successful starter. However, he was given time to adjust and now is pitching like many thought he would at the beginning of his minor league career. I know pitchers are different than position players. However, I think this is a good example of why rushing guys to the big leagues with a small amount of success is rarely a good thing. At some point, there is development that needs to happen, and better in the minor leagues than in the big leagues. I think this is what killed Andrew Vaughn. He had a small amount of minor-league success but the White Sox were such in a rush to get him here, he never truly developed.
  24. Burke loooks really good! Lets trad'em....
  25. This is fine. We have a stockpile of quality pitching.
