Clu is that you? LMAO!

While FSC radar is not as off as the Cell one (2-4 mph too fast), it's still 1-2 inaccurate. Garland doesnt throw 96 and Gordon 97...I remember Koch dialing it up to 101 mph while pitching for Toronto and 99 for Oakland...to go from 101 to 93 top velocity is HUGE.

I believe he is close to .350 after a 3-hit game tonight. But point well taken.

We could easily be 1.5 out right now. If we win that game against the Cubs, and we win last night against the Twinkies....we're that close. All these what if's.....and it's all coming up short. I hope their just starting to play well. If this (unlike 83-win 2001) healthy team plays up to its potential, we would be about 20 games over 500 right now, leading the second best ALC team by 15 games or so. The sheer degree of this team's underachiving play up to the LA series was downright scary, and this newfound will to win of the last 6 fays only highlights it more. Oh the pathos. I agree with a lot of your stuff....but will to win? If they had a will to win, the Sox would be on a 6-game winning streak right now. There were many opportunities to win last night, and just when it looked like the momentum could be shifting toward our favor(Minny putting together a huge threat, one ball away from ending the game, and one strike away from ending the inning, and then having them be brought down by electric Flash Gordon), Botch comes in and throws up a meatball that says "Hit me hard Jacque" and, of course, Jacque does exactly that. And I'm not even going to talk about getting shutdown by the Chubbies on Sunday. Talk about a major disappointment. Colon should have stayed in and done the job. We're still not taking care of mistakes, though we are not necessarily swinging at a ton of bad pitches anymore(still more then we should, however....Carlos swung at one in his eyes IIRC last night against Hawkins). If we start hitting mistakes hard....then you can say we are on a role. I've seen too many good pitches be let go. Someone's gotta step up offensively before the July 20th, or else we'll be seeing a lot of guys leave. I personally feel that as soon as one guy gets real, real hot...like sizzling hot...then you will see the byproduct in the final boxscore with a lot of crooked numbers. Hitting is contagious. Yes...but if these were the pre-LA Sox, we would be 1-5 instead of 4-2. So some progress has been made. (As far as letting games get away thing goes, to my count we have a MINUS-9 differential in the last 22 games alone....scary and nothing new)

If he is promoted, it would mean the season is over. Miles is a rich man's Augie Ojeda, are we sinking to their level now?

Welcome to my world where diminished expectations are shot on the spot!

Hmmm.. do you think I look like her..?!?!?! I still think you're very, very cute if it helps. That's HSC to your left, no? No, that's Kris. WhiteSoxWilkes girlfriend. Michelle (HSC) took the picture. This is HSC: HOW does a cartoon tallk It can get tricky, sometimes they have to use a separate stealth device to filter sound when they film in the Magical Toon Land. The reason for this, as was explained to me, is that these creatures are extremely dangerous not to mention easy to scare, so most of the principal photography is done at night, usually from a high-altitude saucer...with subsequent digital enhancement phase back in the studio. Needless to say stripped-down mobile equipment which comes quite handy when shooting on the run gives the images that grainy, flattened out look which may not appear aesthetically appealing to some. (Since I love toons, I appreacite even the crappiest of quality-- case in point that HSC pic above that I adore, it was originally shot in pitch-black darkness as she was too euphoric and self-destructive at the time for a more conventional approach. I think they even had to resort to using a special toon tranquilizer just in case....Isn't she cute tho?) Hope that helps. Stay GOOD.

You are correct, Joel. Joe B. may not turn out to be Vernon Wells, but his situation does show that patience can be a good thing. Not every prospect climbs up the ladder without setbacks. Vernon Wells and Corey Patterson and Soriano don't need to excellent pitch recognition/SZ judgement because their bats are lightening quick, which allows for room for error. Borchard's bat is slower than Thomas's from what I've seen of his call-up, but unlike 35-Frank, he has no eye either. Giving up on Joe is crazy, but I am very disappointed, wrist injury or not.
-
You can't teach batspeed and you can't teach "eye" With Joe's strenght, he shuold have 30 homers by now in that park.
-
Zambrano had 128 pitches against us and Wood has averaged about 115 a game.
-
Oh, please...whenever there is a huge Sox hit, he practically goes into cardiac arrest, I don't know what games you are watching...Now if it's the "bad guys", it's a different story altogether. Losing sucks and he is of the same mentality. Its all in the tone and inflection. He says more "objective" things and praises the other team as much as anybody...and unlike that real homer, Steve Stone, it doesn't ring false. Long live Hawk!
-
NO...YOU...DON'T. (Let incompetent hacks like Chip carey and Josh Lewis fake "objective" enhusiasm...he is a Sox announcer, no if ands or buts. I am able to get everything I need from his broadcasts and then some.)
-
DJ kept badgering Hawk about the call, trying to rephrase the question each time anf presenting more and more outlandish scenarious...LMAO, Hawk was more confused at what DJ was trying to say than anything else. If you want a classic Pissed Hawk moment....2001: "Hawk, you said 'boner'...." in response to the former's archaic, harmless usage of the word...I thought Hawk was ready to kill him. I am talking dead air for minutes...I am still LMAO every time I think about it.
-
How is he "terrible"? Because he is twice as quick/accurate on the calls as most? Maybe bacause he doesn't strain for puns and doesn't feel the need to search for a new HR exclamation one-liner every week? Or that he doesn't care about out-emoting and out-yelling his peers? That Seattle cocksucker and others like him can stick their "baby...gramma coming home to roost!" comments you know where... He is genuine, knowledgable, observant and cares deeply about this team...what else is there? Do you prefer he resemble other 90% p-b-p announcers in the majors: smarmy, incompetent and aiming at the lowest common denominator among the viewers?
-
Is it any lamer than what he is doing? He used to have the quickest swing in AL a year ago...and now?
-
Did you see that bare-handed spectacular play Jose made on Hunter? Wow.
-
What about the postgame show? Bill Melton and DA are 10 times better than than Dave Otto and that bimbo...can't even compare.
-
OMG, Dick, you've been reading my mind. I didn't want to say anything because DJ is a handsome man whom chicks obvisouly dig--he may have naturally sleepy eyes....But it sure looks like, from a high angle especially, he's puffin'.
-
Yeah, but what we take for granted is how easily Hawk reads game situations, whether hitting or baserunning, which is not easy to do from way up there in the booth...listen to most announcers, who are to enamoured with their own thoughts to keep up with the game and/or just don't have the eye.
