Thursday's game is a MUST
I said that if Sox are going to hit&pitch like they have shown in 2000-2002, we can--no, need--go 14-4. So far we are 1-1, now it becomes 13-3. Minnesota-Cubs-AL bottom dwellers we play in the next 3 weeks should be put in their place once and for all. If we can't win at least 11 games, we might as well pull a WFT-2 and get it done with.

Since I am pretty much unversally disliked on this board, I guess I am the front-runner for the banning. Oh well.

Trust me, you will care when we continue losing close games like that any way we can (running, defense, sit hitting, BL, umpiring, etc) for the remainder of the year and end up missing playoffs by 5 games, prompting a WF-2. (Or do you still think that law of averages will bail the Sox out?) Ok, so you agree on BoSox/SF/Minnesota....What about San Diego? What about Cubs? If Cle-Ari-La is ancient history, then about those losses? I think it would be lazy to excuse our pathetic play and give our opponets credit for something they didn't deserve... (I guess when Sox were losing games in April-May left and right- to KCs, to Baltimores, to Tigers, to Indians, etc....it was because most of the time they outplayed us, too...)

I don't know what criteria you use for determining games that the Sox blow, but I was at the Dodger series, and we didn't blow the 2-1 loss. We just ran into good Dodger pitching that day. I think it was Molto the other day who said that you need to sometimes give credit to our opponents and say that on that day, they were just better than us. Now, the last Boston game I do remember, as well as yesterday's Minnesota game. Oh yeah, and of course that horrid Colon/Bonds game. The others I don't recall, but I'm sure they aren't as bad as the 3 I just mentioned. Even if I were to shave off 4 benefit-of-the-doubt games....5 game differential is still TOO f***ING HIGH for a playoff team that couldn't beat easy oppoenents in April and now has to overachieve... (But since I am pretty confiedent and remember the details of those games, I am not going to concede this to you or anyone. MINUS-9 is what it is.)

Meanwhile this was the 9th winnable game Sox let get away (whether via situational hitting, running, defense or bullpen)...since the Jake series spanning little more than 3 weeks. (2 in Cle, 1 in Ari, 1 in LA, 1 SF, 1 SD, 1 Bos, 1 Cubs, 1 Minn so far). I bet those Mariner over-achievers don't have as many giveaways the whole year.

I am guessing Vlad gets about 5 years $75 mil. I think Vlad is one of those guys to whom it matters where he plays more than how much he gets paid. I wonder where he lands next year? Why here, of course.

That idiot was still there when I left. All the way down to his "witty" little copyright symbols and "board closed" posts. Ah yes the fakester. And the sad thing was is as pathetic and ignorant as he was he never even approached the depths of kenblanks and Boog_Alou95 I don't know why everyone hates Boog and 'blanks so much, it's hilarious to see those guys eat their crow when Sox win....Ah, the torrent of excuses that follows... I wish Big_Hurt/fakester would migrate here, I used to love that mofo. The fact that he doesn't know how pathetic he comes off only makes the whole thing funnier...Long live pedantic trolls!

no, of course not, tho to be fair between 95-2002, Thome was probably as big a slugger as there was in AL. 13 sounded like low-balling it, you're right (Giles/Beltran could fit in)....The point is, it probably won't be in the 20-25 range, especially given his disc problem and all-out style of play. Who knows.

Rememeber that dude, Big_Hurt391? He had an unusual (and annoying1) post layout style, and the harder he tried to come up with something witty/hurtful...the bigger clunker resulted. (I especially loved his forced puns...priceless s*** some of it )

Right before Jose hit his 3 run HR they flashed that stat that Jose had brought home a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs only twice in ten chances this year. Jose is a "bum"...and Carlos is a rising star/5-th spot hitter....there is a difference. No excuses, that was bad.

He should get 3-5 millioon more than Tejada and that dude is asking for 8-digits...

Me and baggio were flamed when suggsting that the way Carlos overswings with bases loaded/RISP will come back to hunt us...how many has it already? For the amount of chances he's had, he should have 60 RBIs. How hard is it to bring the runner in with 1 out and bases loaded? You don't even need a hit...Of course DJ didn't help and neither did Jose.

He is faster than Jose and Lee...and yet both of them would have scored before Mohr even touched the ball...does that answer your question? I am exaggerating, but not really.

The defense has been a joke all around during both of these games. I got a big laugh in the Twins announcers thread when I read that they were ignorant enough to say we had a good defensive team. Yeah....but did you see that relay throw? They managed to make such mediocrities as Lee and Valentin throw in Wriggley look absolutely on the money in comparison... I do agree that Sox defense is better than it was in 99-2001. It's just that we aren't hitting worth a damn and it looks worse than it is. We've actually improved...just don't let Rios and Daubach play OF ever again, lol Speaking of lack of running....Jimenez ONCE AGAIN f***ed up reading the pitch and is forced to stay at 3rd....how many times already this prick has done this?

We have no killer instinct even when we play semi-good. No lead is safe with us...Rios is just horrible. Did you see him and Jimenex try to throw Rivas out from 1st? Ugggglllllyyyyyy.

Whoa, that's a great f***ing contract...Nomar is the exception even with the new CBA agreement.
