You need both testicles for it to be a sport

No to Hillbroad. Unit would be great. AL hitters forgot how to hit him or never faced him. Obviously Sox would have to baby him so he could stay fresh for the playoffs. But the problem with him is that he makes A LOT, so in order for Arizona to pick up half of his salary, let alone all of it, Sox would literally have to give up the farm. Steve Finley? Like I said, give them a good prospect, half them pick up half of wehat's left of his salary (which would be 3-4 Mill around July) and am pefectly fine with a Rowand-Finley platoon. More than fine in fact. He actually knows how to win the World Series.

I think ERA is the single best stat for a pitcher, while BA is not as important for a hitter. Crede's hitting problem this season is a really low OPS, clutch #s and quite a few GIDP.
-
Not OPS?

Ok, Cameron and Drew.....What about Steve Finley? He is 39 but still in very good physical shape. Can't field or run like Cameron anymore, but is still easily as good than what we have now in those departments. Can't hit lefties, but is absolutely crushing RHP this season. Rowand will give him a breather and will take care of LHP. Finley makes 7 Mill, but Arizona might pay a chunk of it, right? (Again, all this assuming Jeremy Reed doesn't come in and start producing right away.)

Bernstein phones it in a lot and likes to goof off a little too much....but when the guy concentrates, he's absolutely riveting: smart as a whip, erudite, ballsy and effortlessly hilarious. Everybody else there, including Terry Boers, is pretty awful.
-
Ok, so financially Drew and Cameron are comparable. Hitting-wise, I can see Cameron thriving at USCF. Fielding and baserunning, he is ahead of Drew. Nor is he as big a health risk. Atlanta will be in the race long after Mets fall out of it IMO. Mets have to realize that Cameron is not adjusting well to NL pitching and that park. Probably miserable in NY. They should cut their losses. If Jeremey Reed can seemlessly slide into CF this year, then fine....but if he is not ready, I wish Sox give Cameron a shot and return the fan fave to the South Side. Then if either Magglio or Lee is gone, it wouldn't be such a big loss from PR side.

I was just making sure people pay attention. "LHC"?
-
That was 30 years ago! I am talking about last 5-10 years.
-
Yeah, but my question was re: their respective defensive abilities. People say Reed can't play a good CF - Kotsay is very good.
-
JD Drew changing leagues? His injury-prone'ness scares me. How much is he making? Anyway Mike Cameron: 2000-2003 OPS away from Safeco: 880 2000-2003 OPS at USCF: 1200 (55 atbats) 1999-2003 SB: 150 (probably good for 20-25 now) Defense: Gold Glove 2004 salary: 4.5 Mill (Mets picking up some once they fall off the wagon?)
-
Who gives a f*** how many times he strikes out??>?????
-
"Beltran sucks"...yep, that's exactly how I put it..... :headshake I love when morons ascribe to me something I never said.
-
Have you seen his numbers away from Safeco and especially at USCF, with that Midsummer Night's Stream to LCF? Awesome. He avoids GIDP, he bunts, he steals bases and does everything else well on the pads, so his OPS is more impressive because we know it's not "one-dimensional". Spectacular defensively. Now that he is healthy and has a reasonable salary....Mets will be falling out of contention, there is no question about it. Why not try to go after Cameron around mid-June?
-
Makes too much and is 35+. Is not doing well at all, the roider that he is. How about Mike Cameron: -Makes 4.5 Million this year. -Is finally over the groin injury that ruined last season's final 2 months. -Can still swipe 25 bags and avoids GIDP, can play small-ball. -As good as it gets defensively -Since 2000, has a near-900 OPS away from Safeco - thrives at USCF -Will be embraced by Sox fans -Is off to a slow start, so Mets might pick up some of the contract Sure, let's try Jeremy Reed first and see how he does in platoon with A-Row, but if that doesn't work, Cameron might be just what the doc ordered. Can he veto the trade to the Sox?
-
How so? He can't throw out a baserunner to save his life, has 5 errors already, pass-balls, allowed some catchable wild pitches and, quite frankly, is a subpar pitcher-handler/pitch-framer. Sure the spike in offense is nice (and expected), but defensively he has been one of the worst catchers in AL, a big disappointment.
-
What does Mark Kotsay have defensively in CF that Reed doesn't? And Kotsay was in the top 5 defensive CF in all of baseball last year, only behind Beltran, Cameron, Hunter and Jones - easily right up there with Edmonds and Erstad.
-
Today's pitchers are getting babied. Fragilitos.
-
Who do we know you better as, and what do you have to hide?
-
If I am Cubs I make room by getting rid of A-Gone and Alou (15 Mill total) and stick it to the Sox big time.
-
I dunno, after Gload learns to field RH'ed and is promptly converted into a 3B, Sox could package Timo with Politte and Shingo to Pittsburgh for 3B Rob Makoviac and LHC Sam Eck who can could then be platooned with Mark against righties. C.Rect

And I think the air is pretty overrated for a human being. See, we all have our wacky theories.
-
He will start to hit, but it won't be singles.... Frank is gonna walk 120 times regardless.
-
Berstein's absolutely moronic stance on Olympics notwithstanding, this guy is it when it comes to the sports entertainment niche. The best. He could do TV no prob.
-
A walk is as good as a hit when bases are empty. And since most of Frank;s hits are to LF, a walk is as good as a single with a runner on 1st since both push him over to 2nd. Furthermore, walks force the pitcher to throw extra pitches and showcase his arsenal to the guy on deck. I'd hate to think this is as good as Maggs is going to get this year.
