  1. Freddy Garcia, even with his salary, recent struggles and M's being in trouble standings-wise, will NOT come cheap. Don't let them tell you otherwise. Carlos Lee + Honel + Munoz.........Are you willing to give that up for a volatile Colon Jr. with those 3-year splits? I am not.
  2. Steroids and pitch counts? Do tell...
  3. Yeah, the old muddied, scuffed baseballs with less corky center..... Do you have the asnwer to the question? Big Sam threw almost 300 pitches in one game and somehow lived to tell about it....Walter Johnson had a few 370 inning seasons and he threw real hard-like.....And so on.
  4. The saddest part is that it wasn't even her fault....Owen Michaels had a similar accident, no? I always been in awe of stuntmen, wiremen, climbers and top-flight acrobats. The discipline and talent one must have, the hard work - you can't fake your way through it. Barry Bonds makes a mistake and he pops the ball up - these guys make a mistake and they die or are badly paralyzed. Just looking at that picture, face brimming with life...
  5. Hanks is ok, but I agree Walker is the s***. His persona gets spoofed, but the man is just so interesting and unique. He could be hilarious by doing nothing than most of the SNL'ers combined. The cowbell skit is just priceless - one of the few times, when Jimmy Fallon cracking up was hilarious and unrehearsed.
  6. Or 'US Cominskullar'.....as per HYM
  7. No, this is the one where I tell you about my neverending c**k and you clap your hands just so.
  8. Yeah....especially when I said Beltran is "the best CF in the game", I was disrespecting him big-time. Poor Carlos..... :headshake Hey, I am also given to occasionally "disrespecting" Colon, Ponson, Castillo, Cabrera, Renteria, Millwoood, Konerko, Koch, Lee, Alou, Ordonez, Rollins, Guzman, Clayton, Clement, Marte, Green, Mondesi, Jeter, Wright, Borchard to name a few.....Aren't I wicked!
  9. No, "you" don't get it. You couldn't be more wrong with respect to me not "liking" Beltran. No need to preach the elemental supply and demand crap, this isn't Ben Graham Interactive.com I've listed reasons why Beltran is not the next coming of Bonds in another thread way back when he was absolutely unstoppable. He is not worth 17 Mill a yearm abd he sure as hell isn't worth 8/140. Not even close. Now he is playing more to his abilities and I am simply pointing it out. Now that's just pure and unadulterated nonsense. :headshake
  10. And I want Bonds. And Calfzilla. And Jenny Finch.
  11. Because Beltran was frequently mentioned in connecton with the Sox and he plays in the same division. This isn't WSI, so I figured there was no need to be rigid and compulsively pedantic when starting a thread. There are 10 other threads discussing the Minnesota thumping. A semi-off-topic thread or two are not gonna create chaos.
  12. Better be an asshole than a f*cking idiot. What I did wasn't "bashing", clown. It was this little thing called "stating a fact". He hasn't played a single AA game. Not this season anyway.
  13. You've never heard of 'intristic value'? I love it when people play devil's advovate - as in "I might not agree per se, but I can see where they're coming from....." Guess what? I couldn't give a flying f*** what Yankees consider "prudent" or "worthwhile"......I am speaking from the Sox perspective - no, from the COMMON SENSE perspective. Beltran has been underrated/underpaid for a few years now. But the pendulum is about to take a big-ass swing to the other end.
  14. Let the idiots pay 8/140 - I am glad the Sox won't be a part of this "bidding". I am content with a combination of Rowand/Reed/Anderson/Harris playing for 600K. Hint: When Beltran signs that super deal, he'll be almost 28. Guess how many 875-900 OPS sluggers averaged more than 15-20 SB a season after turning 28 in the last 5 years...... Derek Jeter, Sammy Sosa, Vlad, Andruw, A-Rod, Griffey, Canseco, Green and many others could swipe 30+ bags once upon the time......Beltran bulks up and gets homer-happy, he ain't taking that abuse on the base-paths and on the field anymore, esp as he gets to over 30yo -- every superstar saw what happened to Griffey and learned their lessons quick. 140 Million is a big-ass investment.
  15. Don't like it? Then don't pollute my thread with your non-points.
  16. Unless AJ Burnett comes in Dontel Willis style....and Marlins get a big bat at the Break to help replace Ivan and Lee......I don't see them winning 92-95 games, which is what Cubs are gonna win if they get healthy and/or Hendry makes trades. Cubs have a Minnesota factor. They just win, against all odds. Astros once again play like they don't want it. Unless Sosa and Wood are shelved for good, I don't see how they could be beat over 162 games by anybody in NL, including the Phillies. I really hope I am wrong, but I doubt it.
  17. Keep trying. Some day you'll get it.
  18. 1. Call up Rauch-mon 2. Have Cotts back him up. Different styles might give hitters additional problems 3. In the meantime, look for a Freddy Garcia type. Then pray, an ace pitcher could be had around the July 30th deadline.
  19. It's getting to a point where people say the darnest things: 1. Beltran is a fantastic fielder 2. Beltran is the best baserunner ever 3. Beltran will hit 50 HR 4. Beltran hasn't reached his prime. 1. He is a GG'er but nothing amazing. Good speed, good arm, instincts. 2. Wait until he hits 35 HR and is put in the 3-hole....no more than 15 SB a season. 3. Doesn't have the batspeed or the eye to be a 950+ OPS hitter 4. He is 27, with 6 years of ML experience. That's prime. The guy has had a Moises Alou April...and all of the sudden he is on his way to being one of all-time greats. :headshake And to think, he used to be pretty f***ing underrated....
  20. Considering Cards, Reds, Dodgers, Padres and Marlins are pretenders and not contenders IMO, and seeing as Houston flat-out refuses to take advantage of Cubs misfortune by building a sizeable lead.....There are 3 things that may stop the Cubs juggerrnaut: 1. Wood is seriously hurt 2. Prior's achilles inflames throughout the season and he goes on another DL 3. Sosa's back can't heal, so he goes to and fro DL's. They just win. With Michael "Brook Fordyce" Barret. With Mitre. With Rusch. With Maddux. With Borowski. With Martinez. With Hollandworth. With Patterson. With Goodwin and Macias. :puke
  21. Still the best CF in the game this season, but no longer worth 17 Mill a year.
  22. As Sox have learned with Jeff Abbbbotttttt and Mario Valenzula and Fernandez and Jeff Liefer, you can never have too much mL "depth". Especially when Magglio may leave and Carlos - traded for a pitcher.
  23. Yes, because that's exactly what I did in the above post - bash him..... :headshake
