  1. Pitt has Chris Wilson, and they would NEVER trade for Konerko's contract. Ever. Seattle doesn't need Konerko's schitzophrenic, GIDP-loving, no-range self either. Lee has more value than Konerko, but neither of those teams want him after such a bad start.
  2. Let's hope so. Last 8 games against the Cubs, Rolen, Pujols and Co have been taking SUCH horrible swings, it was obvious Cubs got into their heads like Twins got into ours. Go Cards!
  3. Nobody wants Konerko, and not many want Lee. Certainly not Seattle or Pitt.
  4. Colon blows, he is a DL trip waiting to happen and he makes almost 13 Mil a year. Please accept it and move on.
  5. Because their combined salary is about 13 Mill and Sox are already over-budget.
  6. Nice tits. I guess.
  7. No, the 'no' addresses the thread title question. But since you mention it.....Crede has definately played himself out of the job. Uribe should and will start at 3B tonight - perhaps he may even field the ball without it getting stuck in the webbing, leading to 2 runs scored.
  8. That's probably because you're an attention span-challenged idiot. j/k but not really
  9. During 2003 pennant race and so far this season, Albert Pujols and his fellow Cardinal sluggers are completely overmatched againt Cub pitching. :puke Go Cards!!!
  10. If the money situation is resolved and the medical exam reveals he is 100% healthy, I am not against Benson. He obvisouly has good talent. If anything, he is an insurence in case either Garland or Schoenweiss revert back to sucking, which let's face it, they probably will. However, with Buehle as a #2 and Elo as #3, SOX STILL NEED A BONAFIELD, BALLS-OUT ACE PITCHER for the post-ASB push and the postseason. Of course they might need a lead hitter as well if Willie reverts, but it's not as big a priority.
  11. Stats can tell you as much if not more than watching the player will over the course of many atbats. Which is not to say that Borchard has been hanging frozen ropes every other at bat in the last 3 years because we know that's far from truth -- if anything, he's been "muscling" out cheap homers out of the Charlotte park that are outs in the bigs. You can have huge numbers in AAA and still suck in the majors -- baseball history is littered with guys who hit 50+ homers, 150+ RBI in the minors and not even dented the majors.........BUT, when you are TERRIBLE in the minors, that says EVERYTHING about a player. Whether his huge struggles are mental, physical or talent-related - or likely a weird amalgalm of all three - Borchard has LOOOOOOOOONG way to go to being the kind of a player we all envisioned IMO.
  12. 2004 Pirzinski: OPS: 605 OPS w. RO: 555 OPS w. RISP: 499 OPS (road): 538 OPS (night): 496 GIDP: 8 SB: 0 CS: 1 Defense: below average Baserunning: below average Clubhouse: cancer X-Factor: enemy of all that's Holy Good trade idea.
  13. Yes, we will know when Borchard is "ready". 450 OBP, 700 Slug. That's what He Seap Choi, Julio Zuleta Michael Cuddayer and Justin Murneu would have put up in the Charlotte Park, third time around AAA pitchng. And they still sucked in the majors. 330 OBP, 450 Slug under those circumstamces is still a disgrace. [/perspective]
  14. Who knows, this season he's been pretty terrible. But in 2002, he was flatout raking. The talent is there. The problem is that talent alone not enough.. Mentally and mechanically, Joe is not a major leaguer right now.
  15. I am not wild about Burnitz either since Sox clearly need an ace pitcher and not slugger. But Jeremy Reed is not the answer either. 340 slugging % in Charlotte...You could bunt for more power there. In the majors, that translates into 250. He is not healthy. He is not ready. Wait until 2005.
  16. I thought Rauch could be a viable replacement sometime down the line. Beastly, do you have the 2003 RICKEY+ for Big Jon? I remember it being suprsingly high, but he wasn't called up. Must be a personal thing between him and KW, huh?
  17. Old news, could have (and did) told you that months ago.
  18. Home scoring is pathetic. Guzman should have 2 errors today. Wow.
  19. As he is getting older, Thomas would be wise to follow Alou's example and shorten the swing's path. Thankfully he is strong enough to upper-body/torque the ball.
  20. Talk about defense that hurts you......Between Guzman's mental error and Caydayer's physical error............6 f***ING RUNS SCORED Now THAT's how you play anti-clutch D. Thank you Twins.
  21. If only he didn't shred his hamstrings playing winter ball all those years....could have been something.
  22. Old Jose can still run em bases.....beats a FO
  23. To be fair Lee did everything right - just a line-out
