  1. Not right now, obviously....but if he pulls a Palmeiro and plays til 40, I could see it. He had too many injuries while with Milwakee, never played up to his potential.......but as a White Sox, Manos has been a solid player if anything else. Ozzie? Not even close.
  2. Somehow I don't think CW appreciates Manos as much as me and you do. I doubt he even realizes that Manos might be the best Sox SS since Aparicio when it's all said and done. He'll come around, though.
  3. Gobble has an ERA in 3.00s and both May and Anderson had a sub-4.00 ERA last year. They're awful this year, but you never know.
  4. I would never swear AT a Puerto Rican. A Dominican or a Panamanian? Sure. But you guys are the Chosen people, and I don't argue with the Lord.
  5. That franchise is dead to me after they helped the Cubs. How dare they. Let me assure you that without Simon, Lofton and Ramirez getting clutch hit, after clutch hit, after clutch hit, Cubs wouldn't even even SNIFFED the playoffs in 2003. Apparently not. Entirely too many folks are willing to give up the farm for Beltin' Beltran. I know people romanticize about 5-tool players...but at some point it gets ridiculous. Do you honestly think Sox could swing both Beltran and Schmidt? Kenny couldn't get us Augie Ojeda right now. Put yourself in Alan Baird's position. Would you even entertain the thought of a possibility of a chance of giving up Beltran for some schmuckaroo like #6 or #11 prospect on the Sox depth chart? The first name he will utter will be 'Reed'. Then, he will say 'Honel. And Sweeney. Last year when the fences were moved in, May, Anderson and Affeldt all pitched well. Then you have Gobble who is pretty good already. A 5th starter will be acquired as soon as Royals get into the mix of things. I disagree. They have an offense that could literally explode, but they also have people who can/could get the job done in rotation and the pen, something Texas never had.. Also, Rangers had a misfortune to play in the same division as Seattle, Anaheium and Oakland....all the while 2004 Royals are playing with Minnesota Twins missing half the people from 2003 due to FA and injuries and of course the perennial losers White Sox. KC has a grossely underachieving rotation. KC has an underaching BP, Sullivan and Lescanic in particular. KC has an explosive offense that's been cold so far. KC need another arm in BP and a rotation guy. They have one of the richest people in the universe as their owner, so if they are withn a few games at the Break, they'll get them with ease. Twins aren't gonna run away with s***, and everyone knows Sox aren't anything if not beatable. KC may have dug themselves a huge hole, but make no mistake about it: they have the talent to compete. I do hope I am wrong and they roll over and DIE, though. Don't be modest, Wite -- you are smart enough to KNOW that this is ML and KC GM is no dummy. Put yourself in his shoes.
  6. You got scared?! I almost crapped my cousins's pants when the play happened.
  7. When Wrong was healthy, his knuckler was unhittable. In 2002, his change was very serviceable as long as he had a mid-90s heat. Now he needs to come back healthy and become a hard-throwing reliever.
  8. Yeah, guys bounce back from TJ routinely these days. Of course the obvious problem here is.....If BrandoFan knew Wright's arm was really f***ed up as early as May 2003 just watching him whince while short-arming a curve.......HOW IN THE WORLD CAN A MAJOR LEAGUE TEAM FIGHTING FOR POSTSEASON NOT KNOW AND/OR DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT RIGHT THERE AND THEN???!!!!!!! Amazing. Just another day in Soxland, I guess.
  9. Yes, but is he enough to "carry" the Sox into and through the playoffs? Based on his track record, the answer is NO. As far as those prospects.....What, did you think you'd give the Royals Carlos Lee and Emencio Pacheco and they just mail you the keys to a brand new Beltran? No, JoshPR, you're gonna have to pay through the f***ing nose - KW will get rapped.
  10. Conjecture that was thankfully baseless.
  11. late-20's is a historic prime. Rule #1 for Small market teams: do NOT pay for potential, but for proven production -- even if that means you might miss out on break-out seasons. Beltran is a career 830 OPS hitter, who's at 1050 right now. That's called "hitting over one's head" given that he's not that strong, nor that quick, nor possesses that good of an eye. And unlike so many sluggers in the 90's who just got better seemingly overnight, I don't think Beltran will have steroids at his desposal in the next few years. Furthermore, if you're expecting him to be a 30 steal guy for much longer, you're kidding yourself. With Boras as his agent, with the prevalent "long-ball your way into HOF" attitude....he'll stop running like Sosa, Griffey and so many others stopped running when they got their taste of 30 HR power and big bucks.....Taking the beating on the base-paths is not conducive to a HOF career. Assuming KC wants to trade Beltran right now and is willing to give him to the Sox......Are you willing to give up Reed, Sweeney and Honel? I am not.
  12. Just stating facts re: Schmidt's injuries and workload. Beltran doesn't have the talent to be a 950-1000 OPS player. Only a handful do. He will tail off. You want to give up the farm system for a player who won't even get you to the post-season and will leave thereafter? Be my guest. Who do I want? I don't know yet. Ask me in a month.
  13. Though I must say Bigfat Thighs looked awfully good today. 3 for 3, 2 doubles, single, 5 ribs, 2 walks and the only out was on a 3-2 check-swing. As long as he starts dumping those outside fastballs into RF, he'll be in good shape.
  14. Didn't they get it done in 1989 as well?

    TV Shows Ending

My favorite 4 Larry Sanders SHow Fraiser Seinfeld (missed the Finale by 6 months, but that's why they got DVDs...) Simpsons (show ended in 1999-2000 as far as I am concerned)
  16. Might I say...AAA? Mine rhymes.
  17. Pirates won't finish above 5th in NCL. Cubs in the meantime went from a sub-500 team to a fluke away from World Series. I wonder who made out like a bandit on that deal.....lmao. Beltrans do not win championships. Shillings, Priors and Browns do. I do not want to give up on Honel, Sweeney, Munoz or Reed. Sox can't afford that. Besides....what makes you think Royals are out of it? Their have a very potent offense once Graff comes back and Berrow, Gonzo, Stairs, Sweeney start mashing. May and Anderson and Sullivan and Lescanic have been underachiving and should get better. As long as Sox and Twins stay around .500.....Royals might just get hot ala 2003 start, get another player at the dealine just like Twinkies did in 2003 and make one hellava move. They have a ton of games with the Sox in August and September, so if they're within 5-7 games around ASB, they won't sell off.
  18. Baseball gods already shot a couple warning shots across the bow in the form of Frank's and Jose's hamstrings. Next time it will be something season-ending.
  19. Maggs = bruised knee-cap. Phewww...the season is not over, afterall.
  20. Wunsht was at his best throwing 87-88 during March-May period in 2003. Righties, lefties...nobody could touch him in those 3 months.
  21. Don't tell that to the vindictive megalomaniac running the show.
