At some point, after almost 3 years of over-achievement....it STOPS being "luck". The truth is, Twins are just a little smarter, more fundamentally prepared and have more grit than most teams. Don't count the bastards out just yet.
-
There was also reason to believe that he would have charged the Sox a little extra....O's got the home discount. And then there's frayed labrum issue....
-
I think Tejada, like Renteria and Guzman, is overrated defensively; home scorers treat them like Gold Glovers, so whenever they boot the ball in the hole, it's rarely scored as an error. Uribe looks and hits and fields like Berroa -- hence the nickname. But if he ends up being the kinda hitter Tejada is, who has a very live bat, then I'll be ecstatic. Boy, did Rockies drop the ball on this one...
-
Funny you should say that, I think Willie might win GG. Btw...Uribe is gonna make his share of errors, too. Last year, Berroa had 25 and JU already has 3 or 4.
-
Hey man, there are only a few "elite" fielders -- Vizquel, A-Rod, Itzituranius, Cabrera.........If Jose was a great fielder, he'd be making twice what he is making now -- back in 2001 when he signed his contract, people were getting PAAAAID like crazy.
-
If he can keep it up, Colorado may have themselves a steal.
-
Oh crap -- here I was thinking the season is over.... Same as Colon, Ponson will be lucky to break the 4.00 ERA mark. Do you think it's worth 3/24 or whatever he got if you're the Sox?
-
And I, in turn, reserve the right to be a simple-minded glutton for punishment Now do a little DMX/Savage, for old times' sake.
-
Hey, you leave Count Donutchasa out of this, you hear
-
I am sure Tampa will ask for Crede AND Cotts. I don't see it.
-
It's a QUESTION, rio, not a statement of fact. You make it sound like I am posting a fake trade here.
-
What was said was I wouldn't presume to know what Ozzie or Kenny want to do here, just my own opinion on what SHOULD be done. You and others disagree, fine.
-
It's not "people" as much as it's good ol' me I admited it would be a bit unconventional, but can one game hurt? With regard to LH throwing, there are minusus as well as pluses, and with Joe's 500 OPS (much lower than Willie) and slow-footedness, I am willing to exhaust options.
-
I don't blame C-Lee for a flukey play today -- he HAS improved since 2001-2002 when he was getting picked off and distracted in the field pretty regularly.....BUT his next year's salary bothers me. 900 OPS is the magic number, and so far Carlos is nowhere near that -- his career is like 815, which is pretty good for a 1-2 Mill player, but at 9, it ain't gonna cut it. He is just so....It's not like he can't lay off bad pitches or hit to CF-RF because I've seen him do it many times. I think he lacks the intensity, the ambition or something. Not a very smart player, that's for sure.

Does anyone know if the rumors of the frayed labrum are bogus or not? How certainly did get smashed in ST and is pretty bad so far this year. Making about 7 Mill, too.

Read my post better, damn. He lost the PRIVILEGE to start against RHP as far as I am concerned. Looks terrible against them. Sox owe him NOTHING; this isn't developmental league. Uribe earned his way into starting -- and he was considered more raw than Joe coming in. Rowand is just missing a HR every other at bat. Earned it for now. Konerko brought the big stick. That's why he plays. Olivo took away some of Sandy's atbats. Looking good. Why the hell should Joe start every day when he clearly hasn't learned his lessons well? Gload has the tools to play 3B, there is no denying that. Whether it will work and wheather he will hit is another story. When it's broke, FIX it. Joe has the talent to win the job back and he will be starting against LHP and against some RHP. Nobody is "giving up" on anybody here. Just doing what's best for the team right now.
-
Screw that. Time to struggle was 2002. He also struggled in 2003. This is the new year, and last time I checked the ALC pennant race is already under way. Oh wake up. Crede doesn't have the batspeed to have the swing arc as long/loopy as it is now or to be battling 0-2/1-2 counts in every at bat. He's been jaw-droppingly bat against RHP and was lucky his grounder wasn't a game-ending DP. He doesn't want to change or he can't change, matters very little. Gload is a corner infielder by trade. He's been spraying line-drives (even if many of them foul) in almost every at bat he's had. Has deceptive speed suitable for Ozzieball. The very least Sox owe him is to let him start against some RHP at 3B for a few games and see if it works. Joe can still start against LHP, and if he starts mashing them, phase him back in and Gload goes back to his current role. Sure beats starting him in CF
-
Because he has the tools to be a solid 3B and has been swinging well in the lmiited time he's been given. He deserves to be in the line-up against RHP -- and it can't be Konerko's spot because Sox are auditioning him for other teams. Crede has lost the job and unless he shortens the swing, he won't get it back. Ty it once and if it works stick to it. If it doesn't, then Crede will be back out there, killing the Sox with his bat.
-
If true, a huge blow to US T&F And to think I once found her strangely f*ckable. :headshake
-
Mobility? Check. Good arm? Check. Infield experience? Check. Throws LH? Yep, that could be a problem.... With Crede's cartoonishly low OPS, I think he lost the right to hit against RHP. Sox don't have the luxury to wait for him to heat it up in July like last year. Let's try it and see what happens,
-
You're probably right.
-
Koch Nouveu? The batter wouldn't know what hit him. Literally - - that fastball ain't what it used to be.
-
Actually, he's off to a good start, only 1 or 2 errors so far and a middle-of-the-pack range. Better than Miles, that's for sure.
