  1. Olivo had a single, a 2-out 3-run double, a SB, a sac bunt and reached on an error by pitcher (maybe his speed caused it, who knows). 2 LOB Crede had a single, a walk, a fine defensive play (saved a run) and a game-winning single that would have been a deep FO if RF didn't have to play half way up to take away a sac fly. 3 LOB. Jauggs, it's your decision. You did give Miguel Bat of the Game, so if you keep Crede as Player of Game, no problem. Just want to make sure you didn't miss on the details as I remember them.
  2. Challenge #2: It was a double ONLY because the RF was playing very shallow -- otherwise it's caught. Without Olivo, Crede wouldn't even have a chance to come to the plate with bases loaded and no outs in the 9th as the KC lead would be to big to overcome. This is a clear case where a high-profile play by Crede overshadows Olivo who was all-around better. There is no way it makes sense.
  3. Challenge #1: Ordonez had more total bases than Olivo; if Miguel is your PoG, then the least you can do for Magglio is to throw him a BoG bone. That way everybody wins.
  4. Do you honestly think that Joltin' Joe, Jr right now is worth as much as during the 2003 off-season? You have got to be kiddin' me. At 24, coming off 2002, he was one of THE hottest prospects in AL (5 years away from FA) At 26, after struggles with pitch selection and a long swing, he is merely an average 3B, albeit one with a pretty high ceiling (3 years away from FA) Back then, Sox could have had just about anybody for him. Now, people are probably gonna ask for a Cotts/Honel/Munoz as well.
  5. You're da man. Your thread-starting skillz are unmatched. I bow down to you today.
  6. Let's be frank here. Carlos is NOT a good defensive LF and he's an average baserunner. He's heavy and reckless, so injuries might become a big concern with each passing year as he gets older. Hell, Sox might convert him to a 1B if the chance ever presented itself. So basically he'll be getting 9 Mill next year and probably even more as a FA thereafter.....for his BAT. Let's check out Palmeiro's and Lee's OPS since 1999, shall we: Lee: 815 (820 in 2004) Palmeiro: 945 (960) Not even close offensively. Palmeiro is making 4 Mill, so you have extra 2.5 Mill (plus prospects) to spend at the Break on a good closer to make the bulpen playoff-caliber. Lee's potential is very nice, but he's reaching what is the historical peak (28 years old) and he's looking as inconsistent as ever. Financially, Sox are no position to wait in case Caballo is a late-late bloomer like Sosa -- unlike Sham-I-am, Carlos won't have steroids at his disposal. Why the trade won't happen: 1. Orioles are in contention. 2. Palmeiro plans to play 2 more years and finish as an 'O' 3. Konerko, Konerko, Konerko. Unless Kong catches fire and somehow convinces Angels to give up Washburn or Dodgers - Perez, there is no place for Palmeiro as Thomas is a DH.
  7. Maybe he shouldn't have runners in scoring position every inning and throw 3-1/3-2 cookies to every batter. Very few, if any. The fence is 335 feet -- same as most parks. Then count how many times the wind held the ball in the park in CF. Konerko's ball for instance. USCF is a hitter's park......but Loaiza, Buerhle, Garland and Show getting their ass handed to them against KC, TB and Cle had nothing to do with it. They sucked. It was a matter of time before their luck dried up. Most of those homers were WAY out of the park. They got slapped around. Belliard is a mediocre hitter at best. Way to make him look like an MVP.
  8. Exactly. Nothing to do with USCF and everything to do with Garland and Show SUCKING.
  9. Is that what it is? I am gussing those 6 HR Show gave up today were definately park-aided.
  10. Uribe just cost the Sox 5 runs with his bobble as far as I am concerned. No error. Fielding % loving dopes can kiss my ass. I told you during the series in NYC that the lightening already struck twice with Garland and Show loading the bases, walking batters, constantly falling behind, unable to put hitters away even with 2 strikes.....with NO CONSEQUENCES whatsoever.......Sooner or later the LUCK was gonna run out -- those mistakes in the zone were gonna become hits instead of foul balls and those rope line-outs would start dropping. You're seeing baseball gods at work now. :puke
  11. And how do you propose we do that? What we need is a nice 12-game winning streak, one that coincides with Minnesota losing 8 out of 12. Every day there's something new with this team. Should have known that when they blew a 7-2 lead in season opener. Mercy!

    F**k

Mediocrity Garland is blooped to death. Adkins, Koch and Politte pitch like s***. Marte can't come into the game and 1-2-3 without walking a batter. Visquel is on base 5 times without hitting the ball hard once. We lead in the 8th. Minnesota trails in the 8th. We lose. Minnesota wins. Teams like Mariners in 01, A's and Angels in 02 and Marlins in 03 all had 10+ game winning streaks. When is OURS coming? So far we could barely muster 3. :puke
  13. Just looking at the logs and remembering the tidbits (for defensive plays) KC (1) PoG: Alomar AoG: Buerhle BoG: Alomar GoG: Valentin KC (2) PoG: Olivo AoG: Koch BoG: Ordonez GoG: Olivo NYY (1) PoG: Thomas AoG: Adkins BoG: Thomas GoG: Crede NYY (2) PoG: Garland AoG: Garland BoG: Ordonez GoG: Olivo NYY (3) PoG: Buerhle AoG: Buerhle BoG: Ordonez GoG: Buerhle NYY (4) PoG: Valentin AoG: Cotts BoG: Valentin GoG: Olivo KC (1) PoG: Konerko AoG: Koch BoG: Konerko GoG: Olivo KC (2) PoG: Olivo AoG: Politte BoG: Olivo GoG: Crede KC (3) PoG: Ordonez AoG: Jackson BoG: Ordonez GoG: Valentin The highlighted parts are where we're in clear disagreement. If you have any questions, I'll elaborate.
  14. That's because the "bulk of you" couldn't give a s*** about Middle East if you tried. I am guessing that made the distancing a little easier. And yeah, I agree that the official TOD goes back to 2003 when the original thread was locked.
  15. Uribe has similar mannerisms and stance to Berroa at the plate, not a fan of walks Both are SS and are toolsy-but-error-prone Both are Latinos of darker complexion Both have good speed
  16. The funny part about Sunday's BoG is that Frank Thomas would have been one if he had more luck -- he was robbed of an RBI double AND his missle single with a man on base was caught. Then, without his 9th inning single, Dranfeldt and Uribe do not even come to the plate. With more luck, he would have had 4 total bases to Uribe's 5, with 1 RBI to Uribe's 2 -- but Frank WOULD have deserved it more because of the sequence factor IMO. Just for future reference, when you will undoubtedly have a situation where player A may lead Player B in "points" or may have a high-light reel play (like a game winning walk), but the player B was quietly more instrumental in making the win possible.
  17. But....I thought....hollow charges of grand anti-semitism are favorite rhetorical refuge of the blood-thirsty zionist imperialists....hmm.....I guess in the last 60 years, Greater Jewry has been suddenly embraced in the aformentioned parts of the world... Tex is right, Apu is almost as fair-minded as Izzy -- and a wholalot less entertaining. In the 60's and 70's, a running joke in the Soviet Union basically satirized the government's domestic and foreign policy unfailingly blaming nearly every global catastrophy and armed conflict/civil unrest on the works of "Zionist Aggressors and their Imperialist Allies".......as newer shipments of weaponry made their way to Syrian and Egyptian portals. Some of the more ironic headlines from the major newspapers in 1967 and 1973 in particular, were pants-pissingly funny, absurd inaccuracies and fabrications and all. When it comes to that time period, Apu literally repeats them point-by-point as though reading off a manual. But I am sure it's all a giant coincidence One of the reasons this thread is exruciatingly boring to me is that the entire debate is framed by two ideological parrots on extreme sides of the issue, frequently spouting outlandish premises and supporting their simplistic propositions with facts that, when twisted out of proper context, are rendered almost irrelevant. Adonai gave the land to Hebrews. But it rightfully belongs to Palestinians. Palis are sub-human scum. But Zionists are Neo-Nazis. UN is worthless. No, UN is the ultimate, disinterested arbiter of right and wrong. Pali economy crushed is a good thing when it comes to the peace process. Israel goes out of its way to murder innocent children and to desecrate Holy sites in order to provoke another intifada. Peace will never take place. No, peace is possible as long as the puppet PLO leadership is appeased and Israel is strategically compromised. Collateral damage is no biggie. But suicide bombings are just a cute way in which the ever-noble Palestinians express their displeasure.....And on and on it rolls. When winodj, FSJ, CW and jauggernaut stopped posting, this topic died.

  19. You mean like the unlistenable DJ? Or a soul-less JoshLewin3000? No, thanks.
  20. But I love 'he gawn'! [/whiny, tearful elaine benes]
  21. I thought is self-explanatory. You have a beautiful heart if I may say, but most people do not give a f*** -- or rather don't give nearly enough f*** as to actually make a difference and help in eradicating all those unpleasant things (poverty, alienation, suffering, the works) you talked about. Never have in fact, outside of a precious few moral sheriffs like Ghandi. We're built that way. Take it up with the Creator.
