  1. too bad they didn't scheduele a double-header for today.
  2. what, Cordero usually pitches when it's close. this offense could explode for...8 runs...at any point
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Wow Teixeira made shingo look like a fool on that one... yeah that's what you'd call redemption.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Sweeney has far better numbers than Morneau. Hitting .312, 9 home runs, 35 RBI on a poor Royals team. I'm saying Morneau should be an all-star over Paulie right now.
  5. wow Shingo made Teixeira look like a fool on that. moral victories here.
  6. what is this? AJ throwing out a would-be base stealer. looks like things might be starting to turn around...then again, Richard Hidalgo is not exactly a burner.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) Ozzie has proved in his time here that he's going to put the game in the hands of the starter. Hell, the one time he actually took out a pitcher too early (McCarthy last Sunday), his decision lost us the game. yeah I forget that Dubois hit that HR off Vizcaino. so he could still have an extra 3 wins if he would pull the other starters like he did McCarthy. you have a bullpen for a reason, so hold leads, so why not use it when your starters get themselves into trouble late?
  8. QUOTE(jerseysox @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) i agree. a paulie who hits .234, can not stand!!! (bad seinfeld reference there). but consider this -- it is still may. i hate using this example, but derek jeter was hitting something .013 after may, and wound up hitting nearly .300 for the year. yeah, yeah, paul konerko isn't derek jeter, but you get the idea. also, paulie's protection in the lineup this year has been garbage. you might as well hit me behind him. with frank back tomorrow, hopefully he stays healthy and helps paulie get some more pitches to hit. i'm just not ready to turn on paulie after the numbers he's put up in the past with the lineup he's been hitting in this year. and i'll bet ANYTHING paul konerko makes the all-star team. and for the record, no, i'm not related to paul konerko. Jeter hit something like .330 June through September. if Paulie hits .280 here on out with the same power numbers I'm satisfied.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) The biggest difference in the last week compared to previous games was the fact that early in the season, our pitchers were pulling a rabbit out of their ass to get out of innings with 2 outs. Lately, we've given up the big 2 out hit instead of getting the guy out (Dubois homer, Kennedy's double, McPherson's homer, Mench's homer). and all those hits happened late, normally the time that a reliever might come in.
  10. QUOTE(jerseysox @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) i agree. past performance is no guarantee of current production. but paulie is having a better season than morneau this year, so i'm not getting it. just someone tell me what makes him better? his propensity for hitting the ball the opposite way? seemingly more consistent, more power, and yes, Morneau uses the whole field.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) Morneau is a f***ing stud. he is, and with him also being 5 years younger than Konerko, I'd definitely take Morneau over Paulie. and look, Politte struck out Mench. think the result would have been similar had he been pitching to him in the 6th?
  12. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) I would take Lew Ford over Everett and possibly Frank, Morneau over PK, Stewart over Pods, Jones over Dye, Cuddyer over Crede, their plantoon over Uribe, Mauer over A.J. Santana over Buerhle, Radke over Garland, Silva over Garcia, Mays over El-Duque and only Contreras over Lohse. Not to mention their entire bullpen over ours with the lone exception of Hermy. you sound like you're getting ready to move to Minnesota.
  13. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) reading some of these posts makes me sick saying the game is over, and this team sucks. I know it may look bleak but its not over till its over some of you call yourselfs fans well try acting like it and have faith. And for the people saying we suck we are palying the hottest team in baseball right now! just have some patience the team's problems are a lot harder to ignore when your struggling. and this team is struggling, so this is only natural. and here's Ozzie bringing in Politte...about 15 minutes too late.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) Morneau is better than PK. he's having a better season, but Paul has been showing some signs of life.
  15. ...that was touching. at this point, any trade KW makes should be modeled after what the Twins have. a good middle reliever and a hitter that uses all fields.
  16. the question is...do we mark this game in the "Other 42" category?
  17. here we go, this would be a pefect time to rise out of this batting slump.
  18. QUOTE(jerseysox @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) would you care to wager on who wins this game now? they could give us six innings to come back. not gonna happen. I began typing that at 5-3 when everyone was saying it was over. I probably should have erased it, but if you give me really good odds, I'll consider it.
  19. by the way everyone, they will still be playing the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings today. just thought I'd let everyone know that they will not be cutting it short tonight so everyone can go home and watch the Yankees-Red Sox game...and as I type this the Rangers score 2 more runs and I guess Ozzie still hasn't figured out you can in fact pull your starter before the 7th.
  20. I was just thinking before that home run: Ozzie knows he can go to the bullpen before the 7th inning, right?
  21. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 28, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) PK has been crap. People need to stop defending him. Let's face it, he got up for the Cubs series and went back into his slumber. Dye at least was rising for 3 weeks slowly and hit his peak against the Cubs and then he went back to his slumber. in the 5 games since the Cubs series, Konerko is hitting .315 with 2 HR and 4 RBI (he has struck out once in each game). you're right about Dye though.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) Sweeney has a no-trade clause in his contract. I can't see him agreeing to go play for another team in KC's division. The Dodgers and Angels have long been rumored as the most likely place that he would get traded to. he'd agree to it, because the White Sox are winning right now, and all Sweeney wants to do now is win. if they hadn't won 83 games in 2002, he'd have left as a free agent by now, cause he had some clause in his contract saying if the Royals didn't have a +.500 season he could leave.
