QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Before anyone says anything, I'm sure it's not entirely Crede's fault. When was the last time he got a hit? He's been out of his rhythm because he's been concentrating on defense. hey a shot at me. not bad, not bad.
-
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) They just bust Crede with fastballs because they think he's got a slow bat he does, he's got a long swing. maybe a hitting coach of some sort could tell him to shorten it.

there's no way the Sox are coming back in this one, this offense can't get anything done...oh, we're winning. how bout that?
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Bets on Cruddy getting on base? what kind of odds?
-
I just looked, the Sox left 20 on base yesterday.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) It's kinda like yesterday. They should have scored more then they did, I think they left 9 on base. They're getting on, they just can't clutch hit to save their lives right now... which is total opposite in April. I agree in the sense that we need a 15-2 kinda game to break out. Then I think we'll get back on the horse and get going again. I think they left more like 17 on base.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) I don't think we are going to score another run in this one. I smell a loss here. that would be likely, say, if we were trailing. step back from the ledge please.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) Dammit. What, is the wind blowing in? yeah, it's blowing out to right.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) 2 pitches, 2 called strikes on Dye. He'll swing at a bad pitch in the dirt likely. way to have faith.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Unreal. I'm sure Garcia spent hours before the game practicing the bunt. Crede practices bunting at least one time before each game. That's a lot more bunts practiced over the course of the season than before one game. not hours, but at least a few, so he can get a feel for it so he won't just be closing his eyes and saying a little prayer while the ball is pitched.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) Now, you're comparing Crede to someone who hasn't played in a MLB game in almost a year? Not only that, Crede is the number 9 hitter, not the all-time franchise home run leader. Crede definitely has been asked to bunt before, and I think he's done a pretty solid job in the past. okay well someone who hasn't bunted in a while, and Thomas' name was the first I thought of.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) Now this is getting ridiculous. Garcia probably had never tried to lay down a bunt in a game, yet he had no problem doing it on the first pitch. Who do you think practices bunting more.....Crede or Garcia? Garcia, I'm sure he did right before the game.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) I'm sorry, I'm just so frustrated that he sucks this badly. The fact that some people are so blindly defending him is only making the situation worse. I guess you're referring to me. which I'm not, but like I've said three times now, you even need to practice bunts. I bet a bunt from Frank Thomas would look the same way, because when was the last time he bunted (his would probably be a lot worse).
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) More excuses for Cruddy's suckiness. If he can't even hit, he damn well better learn how to lay down a f***ing sac bunt. Otherwise, he is worthless other than his defense. like I said, he's got to learn to lay down the bunt. but when you haven't in weeks/months, it's hard to lay down a good bunt when the pitcher has a lot of movement on his pitches.
-
I guess this is the wrong place to defend Joe Crede, all of you just want his blood. btw, he has 1 sacrifice hit (bunt) this year, 7 total in his career. Garcia, as a pitcher, is expected to bunt with runners on, I'm sure he was practicing his bunts before he pitched. and yes, Crede should learn to bunt, help us out in other ways than defense.
-
Cameron is so inconsistent, I would just love/hate to have this guy on the White Sox, depending on what streak he's on. didn't he have a 3 or 4 home run game against us 3 years ago? as for Kaz, he's a bust and I wouldn't want this team to take the chance on him.
-
before anyone says anything more, don't be too hard on Crede. when's the last time he bunted?
-
QUOTE(I-HATE-CREDE @ May 30, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Lets just have Crede euthanized. I take it you aren't too high on Joe Crede...
-
QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ May 30, 2005 -> 03:12 AM) Excellent Post. I think what people tend to forget is that we split in Anaheim where that team's pitching is every bit as good, if not better than The Sox pitching. There were 18 total runs scored in that entire series. Not to mention, that they had to play Texas who is playing out of their minds right now. It would be hard for any pitching staff to shut them down right now. The Sox are fine and will rebound from this. we were unlucky that we faced Ervin Santana when he's on, because rookie starters either get shelled or they're lights out. there's really no in between, and we got the lights out Ervin Santana.

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 29, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) What you said is not even what irritates me. It is all of the people that think brazoban and mike gonzalez's of the world are available. Why the f*** would that be? Also the white sox or any team would never offer a player of anderson's caliber for ensberg. yeah, I just threw Anderson's name in there to help my point. what I'm saying is that the Astros could make Ensberg available with the way their playing and when his contract is up.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 29, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) Ummm... Willy Taveras? Taveras isn't really doing much for them. .296 OBP, but he's young and fast. but Biggio's 39 years old, Burke's going to play second, and Jason Lane also hasn't shown much. so why not trade Ensberg, who they could lose in free agency soon, for an outfielder?
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 29, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) I have said it before and stated the reasons. Thought it is pretty obvious that teams don't give up young cheap players for no good reason. Apparently i was mistaken. Maybe we can scoop up peavy while we are at it. Think they like vizcaino, cotts, and shingo ( they were interested him before anyone else you know). 1) I barely go on the internet, so I've missed a lot of what everbody says. 2) I mentioned his contract situation, meaning depending on when his contract is up and with the s***ty season Houston is having he could be available. 3) Ensberg is no Peavy. Peavy led the majors in ERA last year, he throws 96. Ensberg is a much more consistent Joe Crede, and would fit well here. then again, so would Albert Pujols (just thought I'd take away your next wild comparison). EDIT: you're saying the Astros wouldn't consider trading Ensberg for a Brian Anderson? you know, they're not exactly set in centerfield.
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 29, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Ensberg is not going anywhere. way to clear that up.
-
I'm not sure of his contract situation, but I'd like to see the Sox pick up Morgan Ensberg. he's doing basically what we expected of Crede, and I'm sure we could find some team in the rebuilding mode to take Crede off our hands. (and thus officially ending my status as the lone Joe Crede supporter left in Chicago)

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Some names no one has mentioned yet (probably because there's about as good a chance of getting them as there is of Crede hitting .350 with 45 HR and 130 RBI): David Wright Ryan Freel Chone Figgins Melvin Mora if David Wright were traded from the Mets, their GM would be institutionalized the next day.
