  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) I haven't attended 1 Sox game in my life. Does that make me a bad person? just don't open any mail if you think it might be from Jabroni, and you'll be fine.
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Fly in for a Sox game sometime and I probably wouldn't care as much if you b****ed about the attendance. But you are living on the west cost and watching games on TV and you are still b****ing about attendance? Come on... so, $150 total in plane tickets, $15 for parking, and the tickets themselves vary from $15 to $150+, depending on how many people are with him and what kind of seats? that's not really chump change.
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) I will answer you in the form of a question, a la Jeopardy... Why bother worrying about the attendance when you f***ing live on the west coast? Does it hurt your feelings that badly when the park is not full when you are watching Sox games from your home? By the way, I have a Minnie Plan with my girlfriend and go to many other games and I still don't give a s*** if other people go to the games or not. don't you realize the cycle of Attendance=More Money=Better Players=Better Team=More Wins=Playoffs=More Money=Even Better Players=Even More Wins=World Series. plus we'd have a real ballpark atmosphere, I'd like to hear everyone yell GOOOOCH when Iguchi bats.
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) You were serious about it and you know it. hell no I wasn't. I admit I was slow to crawl off the burning Crede bandwagon, but outside of "CMON TIMO!" he hasn't done anything else before that game. give me a little credit, if you're not going to hunt me down for suggesting we don't lynch Joe Crede.
  5. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Guess it's easier and cooler to be a hater than exhibit a bit of patience. seems to be the combined feeling around here, as most people are calling for Konerko's and Crede's blood, as well as any supporters of the two.
  6. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) Back to the topic Throw Crede under a truck and get Vinny Focking Castilla here please anything to get rid of Crede, huh?
  7. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) So because he can't make it to a Sox game, he should b**** about other people that may not be able to make it to a game either? That's pathetic. Period. I wouldn't call it pathetic. but like someone before me here said, a lot of this site is b****ing about Crede and Konerko, and dismissing anybody who even slightly supports either of those two. I jokingly said "righty-lefty" match-up to Timo batting for Frank in a game thread, and said Timo's .191 average offsets that, and you still jump all over me. so no talk about other people b****ing from you.
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) Because with Konerko batting cleanup, you lose the protection for ARow. PK is pretty much HR or bust. My lineup: Podsednik Iguchi Rowand Thomas(could be flipped with ARow) Pierzynski Dye Konerko Crede Uribe so why flip A-Row with Thomas? why has everyone on this site forgotten that from 1999-2002, Konerko was a legit #3 hitter, with a horrid start to 2003 and a bad start this year, without much help from the hitter behind him?
  9. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Too many RH bats together. Need to put AJ higher and send Paulie's useless ass to the bottom 3 once Frank returns the way Paulie hits (pulling everything), protection with Frank Thomas hitting behind him wouldn't be a bad idea. why not Rowand-Konerko-Thomas at 3-4-5?
  10. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) I don't care that you live on the west coast. If you aren't going to Sox games yourself, you still have no right to b**** about the attendance. It's pathetic. yeah, 500 miles is nothing, it's only a 5 hour flight. or you could drive. leave today, be here for this series' finale.
  11. I think the fair-weather Cubs fans will start changing colors, this recent Cubs winning streak might have been the last hurrah, like "good-bye sex" for them.
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) I know that ESPN.com shows this year's salary, but read a little further, Sexson signed for 4 years 50 million that was after his production dropped off to the tune of .233 with nine homers and 23 rbi and an injury. Delgado 4 years 52 million. and that is with competition in the market place, when Kong is the only viable 1B in FA, his price will be high. For a side not D.LEE agreed to a one-year then a three year extension, and THIS is his breakout year. And Casey's 8.5 million dollar option was picked up. I really didn't do much research, just player pages for this year, but you just can't say Konerko would be a bad fit if he were hitting .300, because that would make his OBP about .400, and our offense would be scoring more runs. if he raises his average to .300, and we don't offer him an extension in the process, he will be gone for 10 mil+ a year somewhere else. but he'd still be a good fit.
  13. as for clogging up the bases, they can't all be Scott Podsednik.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Konerko will be a bad fit when his salary is raised to the level of his asking price, he will be not only clogging the bases, but the payrol as well. Barring comparison of the current stats of the players, Chavez is a better player, bar none, and since you know Kenny so well that you say we wont make this trade, then I guess its true, man this would have been a shorter debate if you would have told us the truth ealier, where have you been all my life. :headshake he really couldn't ask for much more than the 8.75 million he's asking now, seeing has how his production has dropped off since he signed that contract. and Chavez is making 8.5 million this year, so money has no factor. as for asking price, Sexson is making 6 mil, Delgado 4, Sean Casey 7.8, Derrek Lee 7.6, Todd Helton (for comparison's sake) 12. his asking price can't go much higher, he doesn't exactly compare favoritively with that group.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) When the fireworks go off in the cell do you feel utter satisfaction? Kong is the king of solo hr's, so if driving in runs is your big concern, he is not the man for the job. Im also not calling for his head, I love pauly, but he is not a fit to re-sign on this team. re-siging him at the price he is going to be valued at is stupid for this ballclub, especially since he doesnt fit in our model of baseball. You are consistently talking about RBI's, he has broken 100 only twice and has never had 141 , so its not like he is an RBI monster(FYI Chavez has done it three times). As for the rest of his offensive stats, I have been stating that having Chavez in the lineup next year is more beneficial because his OBP is better, he hits to more fields, moves runners over, doesnt clog the bases brings 4 gold gloves and a silver slugger award and is more valuable as a 3B at a lower than market cost. Value is king and Konerko is a bad value. You can search my posts a month from now, if you are still posting , and if he raises his avg up to 300, I still wont think he is a fit for the sox, but if he does that sometime this season, you can have my season tickets any day you choose. of course Chavez is a better fit than Konerko, but that doesn't make Konerko a bad fit. like you said, Chavez uses all fields and plays gold glove defense, Konerko doesn't. but if Konerko were to raise his average this year to .300, then he will be re-signed, because his numbers in the second half will be of MVP quality. and the career OBPs of Konerko and Chavez is .344 and .350, respectively, and Chavez has an OBP of .284 to Konerko's .336. but Chavez won't be coming over to Chicago anytime...ever. so let's end this and hope Konerko becomes the Konerko of 1999-2002.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) ROFLMFAO @ the start of this thread kind of took on a life of it's own, huh?
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) I guess he was slumping in 2003 also. Maybe its only a every other year thing then. look at Konerko since he joined the Sox: 1999 - .294/24/81 2000 - .298/21/97 2001 - .282/32/99 2002 - .304/27/104 2003 - .234/18/65 2004 - .277/41/117 2005 - .223/13/37 he's only 29, and on pace for another 40 HR and 100 RBI season. the hits should come (hopefully). and if they do, I want Konerko here for 2006.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) That's what I was gonna say. Wow, you better be beating the team who dropped Chavez, the manger is obviously a dumbass. someone in my league dropped Chavez, and I picked him up right after I checked to make sure he didn't suffer a debilitating injury. I just checked the log, he was dropped May 13, and I picked him up May 16. I can't believe he was available so long, and I haven't used him much, just when there are good matchups, I'm waiting for him to come out of the slump he's in before I put him at 3B for Brandon Inge.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) By overcoming its managers decisions? yeah, but the nice way to say that is "overcoming adversity"
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) By overcoming its managers decisions? yeah, but the nice way to say that is "overcoming adversity"
  21. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) Still like the shadow argument that DJ threw out there. it can toy with your sight, but it's not like the ball disappears either.
  22. QUOTE(AirScott @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) don't get me wrong, it's still a bad move. the lefty-righty match-up is moot when that lefty hits .191 vs. righties. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) And he strikes out... LOL, lefty versus righty matchup means absolute s*** when it's Timo and he's hitting in place of Frank Thomas. Do you need me to buy you a clue? I retracted my statement before you said anything.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) It's a shot at anyone defending Crede. There's just no point anymore. He's a lost cause and I don't think it could be any more obvious. I hate you, Timo Perez. I'd really like to see Crede shorten his swing. the key is making adjustments when something doesn't work.
  24. don't get me wrong, it's still a bad move. the lefty-righty match-up is moot when that lefty hits .191 vs. righties.
  25. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Ozzie is a f***ing moron. Period. lefty-righty match-up...or is it the other way around?
