  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) He is way to comfy in the box against us. If the situation is right, like 2 outs-nobody on, I wouldn't mind drilling him or at least pitching way in a few times. yea, i havent seen the sox try and do anything whatsoever when it comes to him. change the way they pitch to him or something. no adjustments
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) He never mentions how bad Gomez has been this year. gomez is guna kill us again this series. and he has been awful batting 230 something and only has 21 rbi i think, and 5 came in one game against us lol ouch. im guessing they dont send him down or anything bcuz they dont want to make that trade look even worse
  3. QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) We have an option on him but I'd be shocked if we exercise it. I think the million dollar buyout and a 2-3 year extension at a much more affordable price is more likely. so u want to resign jd for another 3 years? i dont think we want to be like the cubs and have contracts for a lot of money for players in their late 30s. hes been great but i wouldnt do 3 years. just exercise the contract and see what happens
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) I want to see the band (Thome and Dye) back together for another year. We also have to keep Pods. Yeah, we will be old and slow for at least another year, but that's how it's always been. We need to address Beckham first and foremost. Do we want him being our cornerstone third-baseman or middle infielder? Lexi needs to pick a position too. Orlando Hudson will be out there if we need the help. they same lineup again??basecloggers in the middle ugh
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) Is it his stuff or like somebody said the fact he threw all fastballs? If it's his approach and not his stuff, keep him as closer, but give somebody else the job the next few save opps and heaven forbid if that guy blow the save. probly bcuz he threw all fastballs. he struck out the 1st batter by throwing 2 fastballs then the hook got him out. with granderson, he had him 0-2 and the next pitch, he throws him a fastball in the zone when a breaking pitch gets him and the games over. "You know what? I'm not even mad about this one," said Jenks, who has dropped four saves in 26 opportunities this season. "I would go out there with that stuff tonight every day."
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) There's clearly some mental crap going on with this team right now. well when it comes to bobby, i think its all mental.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) I was 10 and I remember that collapse to this day. I'm having flashbacks. but how is it that throwing a pg or no hitter becomes a bad thing?
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Unfortunately yes. i was only 2 yrs old/ lol jp
  9. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:33 PM) yea,not even close...weren't the Tigers slumping til we came to town by the way?wtf yup, got swept by ny and lost 2 of 3 to seattle(!), 1-5
  10. QUOTE (DanksFan @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:31 PM) There's 2 months yet. Losing a couple games now isn't bad, but my biggest fear is if it puts Detroit on a roll. I hate how sports are sometimes. The Sox are a far better team then Detroit, but a combination of bad luck and decent pitching from Detroit ended up killing us. even if we get swept, i donth think our season would be over but i dont want kw trading our future for no reason. one pitcher or hitter isnt guna help. if the bullpen continues to struggle, then thats it,
  11. QUOTE (DanksFan @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:27 PM) The Tigers have had a lot of luck this series too... seriously. I think their collective team put a rabbits foot up its ass before this series. ok but what can u do? all that matters is that we havent won. whether it was 4-3 and all 4 coming via the long ball or all on errors, a loss is a loss/
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) KW....do not give up Flowers, Danks, or Hudson PLEASE! we better not trade any of them. what would we need halladay for? jenks would just blow it for him
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:23 PM) Have the Tigers hit a ball hard for a hit all day? does it matter? they won , and weve dropped the first 3
  14. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:22 PM) Basically we have dropped out pants and inserted our head for 3 games here. This is something we used to do with the Twins. Kick the ball around, no hitting, and late inning struggles by the pen. Hopefully we keep on the plan to transform this team in the offseason. i know JT, JD and Pk are doing real well this year but we do have to change this team. awesome pen, game
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) God this is infuriating. detroits just a better team and theyve proved it so far
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) you mean pitching to Mauer with an open base? That was extremely stupid also. This one is all on AJP though. that was ajs and thorntons call
  17. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) If we hope to stay in this division race we sure as s*** better win today.
  18. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:14 PM) Any sort of off speed pitch would've had Granderson way ahead...he pulled a 95+ fastball,f***ing AJ atleast ur putting the blame on them and not ozzie(like that time in minn when thornton threw a 2-0 fb to mauer)
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ People here really need to look at the real situation before just blasting a player they may not like. i dont care if they were broken bat hits, a hit is a hit. or the defense didnt catch a ball that wasnt an error. he still threw a bad pitch to granderson. he blew it and thats it
  20. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:09 PM) Sorry, but this wasn't a meltdown. f***ing Podsednik was playing in Ontario, Thames broke his bat in two, Granderson hit a ball hard but in the infield. On the other hand, Jenks's stuff actually looked good. Maybe he just needs 4 days between appearances. Oh, if Paul Konerko or Carlos Quentin would like to arrive in Detroit at some point, I'm all for it. Especially Quentin. yup. i understand u should win these games, etc but since the break (not including the 1st game) were averaging 3 runs a game. sorry, but thats not guna cut it. not in this league
  21. QUOTE (CQMVP @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:07 PM) Does Jenks even have any value in a trade at this point? I can't see many teams wanting a closer that gives up base runners every time he's in to close. He walks guys. He gives up runs. Let's just face the facts. Jenks is NOT a good closer in this league anymore. He was fine when he could reach back and throw 99-100 every time he came out. Now, he's lucky to tap 95 most of the time, his hook isn't nearly as nasty as it used to be... What does he have that makes him better than, say, Thornton, as a closer? its a confidence/mental thing with him right now. he touched 97 today
  22. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) Just wondering since I have tickets to the Sunday game vs. the Yankees, will that be Buehrle's first start at home since the "Perfecto"? should be, if u do the every 5th game thing. should be pitching tues vs min then sun vs ny
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) Who in our bullpen is actually a hot hand? true, no one really right now. but i would take dotel and thornton over him right now. hell, literally even carrasco and pena. thats how bad hes been. like boers and bersnstein said, ozzie keeps trotting him out there as if all of the sudden hes going to snap out of it. its been going on for a bit already. to make things simple, i just agree with what he said in his blog and thats about it.
  24. QUOTE (3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 09:55 PM) Damn, I'm still pissed about Linebrink. Here's what I wrote on my blog (cheap plug! nah, j/k, I won't link it, but in case you really are interested, just goto mlblogs.com and click the recent White Sox tag) i agree. ozzie is treating linebrink like a guy that everyday is in the 3 spot. when ur best hitter is struggling u leave him there almost no matter what. thats how hes treating linebrink. he was his 8th inning guy and hes leaving him there. im not a huge fan of lou bcuz i think hes a bit overrated but atleast ive seen him mix it up a bit in the pen. u go with the hot hand. how many times does linebrink have to fail for him to make a move?? fustrating.
