And that's a white sox loser
QUOTE(premo @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) And another thing, I hate Tori Hunter more than any other player in baseball. I'd like to see Buehrle hit him in the mouth tommorrow. Why? Because Torii Hunter is a winner? Those are the kind of players I wish were on the Sox. The Sox gave it their all tonight, but it wasn't quite enough. The Sox were defeated by a better team. The Twins play a better brand of baseball, have a better manager and do what it takes to win games. Doesn't mean the Sox aren't good, just that the Twins are better.

**8/26 Game Thread! SOX vs. twins
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) MACK IN CF?!?!?!?! I'm not even going to rip Ozzie, the actions speaking louder than any of my words can. With Jerry Owens' cryptic comments on WSCR this morning it makes one wonder if something is going on with Anderson. Anyway, I wish the reason was Ozzie finally realized that lefties hit Santana better than righties and it also breaks up his rhythm---but with Alomar starting, that blows that theory.

Keep Jermaine in the #3 hole
QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) I know I've been harping on this since before the season began. I just hope Ozzie realizes after today's game that our lineup is going to be better with Jermaine #3, PK #4, and Thome, when he returns, #5, with Crede #6 and AJ #7. It's a better alignment against lefties and righties. We went 16-1 with JD hitting 3rd last year. We could use a little tear like that to put the Twins in our rear view mirror and put some heat back on the Tigers. Yes, Yes, PLEASE put JD in the three hole. I'd put Thome fourth and Paulie fifth to have the R-L-R in the middle, but either way is fine as long as JD is number three where he belongs.

Sox lose game 1 to Tigers
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Our best hitter is batting fifth. Our worst hitter is batting first. Our two best defensive players didn't have to pay to watch the game. Our best reliever pitched to three batters in the 6th inning. Need I go on. Dye should be batting third, with Thome fourth and Konerko fifth.

Not a surprise, not a time to panic, but what happened to "grinde
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) Another f***ing small ball post? You'd think leading the majors in RS would be enough to f***ing convince people that the way to score runs is to get on base and hit home runs and doubles. The problem has been pitching, it's been the problem all year. The offense IS THE BEST IN BASEBALL!!! The problem is not the offense, it's not a lack of "small ball". The problem is that MB, JV, and to a lesser extent FG, JC, and JG have all s*** the bed this year. Add Neal Cotts and Pollitte to that list as well. Never said anything about "small ball". You have to play baseball. Let the home runs happen. You still have to play smart baseball. Swinging for the fences everytime up isn't smart. When your big hitters are not hitting home runs you still have to be able to make things happen. One of the big keys to the Sox' success last season and the reason they got off to such a tremendous start was because they would score first and the pitchers would take the mound with a lead right from the beginning of the game. Hence, my point about the style of play in the first inning. Learn to f***in' read. It gets old having people take things out of context. My original post was in response to the question, "What happened to grinder baseball?" Read the post again and try to comprehend.......oh, just forget it. BTW I mentioned the pitching being the problem.

Jim Thome changed the character of this team. Not knocking the guy, but it is what it is, for better or worse. He should be batting fourth, however. Instead of adding Thome to last year's team, it seems the Sox have changed their whole approach centered around Thome in the third spot. No stealing, sacraficing, hit and running, etc. in the first inning like last year. "We don't want to take the bat out of Thome's hands, you know." The starting pitching has not come through this year either.

We win tomorrow and we win this division
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) who's with me Me. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) There is still ALOT of baseball left, but this series is so big for both clubs not only in the standings, but the mentality of both clubs. If the Sox can sweep "The Best Team in Baseball", and cut the lead to 5.5, things look great. With the two game swing at hand tomorrow, 5.5 and 7.5 are a huge difference in Mid August. You got that right!
