  1. So what is the different skill required to acquire players to get to this point and acquiring players to make the next step? It there a different type of player that can take the Sox to the next level as opposed to the player that can make the team good at this point?
  2. I don't think the questions was could they finish it off. That has only been the question the last 2 years. Prior to that 95% of the posters here did not want to allow this FO to attempt the rebuild as they didn't trust them. It's the same old complaining no matter what happens. KW won a world series but is was lick and not him he sucks. The FO can't do a rebuild because their all idiots. The build a good team but can't finish it. If they win a world series but only one like the Cubs or Astros it will go back to them being idiots but lucky and they couldn't capitalize on the team. Now before all the water carrying comments start coming, do I agree with every move. No. But to say they can't acquire players to win isn't correct either. I think back when this started and I argued to give the FO a shot at the rebuild the timeline I said was contending by year 3 and win in the playoffs by year 4. I think year 4 would be next year if I remember right.
  3. So the FO gets no credit for acquiring Grandal, Abreu, Moncada, Jimenez, Robert, Giolito, Cease, Lynn, Hendricks, Bummer. However, they get discredited for acquiring Hernanadez and Kimbrel. Is that point?
  4. It could. But as we see now, you can never have enough pitching. The problem is they are counting on Vaughn during a world series run so he may not be the one to trade unless they have confidence in Sheets or Burger to contribute now. You have to trade talent to get talent. Just depends on how it all fits together and the situation of the team.
  5. The title to this thread is a little misleading. He can start playing catch and throwing at 2 weeks. He won't be throwing of a mound until 4 weeks. So at 4 weeks he will begin building up pitching innings but his arm will already be conditioned for pitching.
  6. I don't know if I would put Burdi there. The devastating injuries really got him and I don't know if you can always predict that.
  7. No. I never said the rotation was fine. I said the bullpen was a greater weakness. After they signed players for the pen, I still would have focused more on pitching as opposed to acquiring a RF.
  8. No doubt. Its an odd injury as I said. This is just my best guess obviously as they didn't give an exact diagnosis.
  9. No if its what I think it is, it's not part of the joint so a scope won't work. It will be a small incision for the excision though. That's why Grandal was able to return in 6 weeks, I believe. Lynn will take a little longer to get his arm ready again with 2 weeks off.
  10. 2 out of 3 yes. That was one weakness. If only they would have gotten an SP as well. But Kimbrel and his 16 million were earmarked for an RF
  11. I think it will be earlier than that. He should be pitching by 4. Building up his arm and he should rejoin the team at 8.
  12. Don't worry. When he's playing he will have a cup on and his accessibility will be hampered.
  13. It will only be 2 weeks of sitting around. Then the rehab will start and throwing at 4 weeks.
  14. Yes. I am assuming they will be a contender.
  15. Yep. 4 weeks healing/rehab, another 3-4 of ramping up pitching. Healing time for nearly all muscle injuries is somewhere between 4-8 weeks. That's just physiologic healing.
  16. For a totally different injury.
  17. You know they will save some for the trade deadline acquisitions.
  18. They could have gone with Vaughn, Sheets and Engel.
  19. He needs a significant other?
  20. With trading Kimbrel for a hitter, they don't have much room under the CBT for a quality starter.
  21. Yes it would. A tendon repair is 8 weeks of healing and rehab minimum. A partial menicectomy would be a similar length to this. But they are both really just excision of tissue and healing.
  22. This one really doesn't have much to do with the weight. That's more a joint issue.
  23. Has to be that f'n plantaris and they are just going to excise it.
  24. No. If he did something and they decided on surgery the next day, it wasn't thus. Thus organization has a very good medical staff. I wouldn't lump them with "something this organization would do." Like I said before, you could see it was something caused by the impact during that pitch.
