  1. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) How many others escaped prosecution? I hope this stops anyone else from screwing stockholders and employees. I wasn't questioning your post. For all the people lives these assholes ruined, I wish they'd hang 'em.
  2. The modest admins. ^^^^^^^^^^
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) They were the poster boys for reform. Ten years, hell five years earlier, and they would have received a slap on the wrist. Sorry for their luck.
  4. QUOTE(thedoctor @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) if a.j. gets anything it will be complete and total bulls***. Completely and totally agreed.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) The random crowd noise is pretty distracting too. At just random times you'll have large groups of people just scream at the top of thier lungs, this happened at some damn crutial moments in the 8th yeterday and really took away from the importance of the game. I mean last night was one of the best games of the year and that many people found it boring enough to warrant starting the wave. Ah ... More of the "draw attention to ourselves" crowd.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) For starters, since he felt compelled he could have (should have) stepped in between them without grabbing MB by the throat... Whoa. I missed that piece of info. Didn't see it.
  7. When push comes to shove, doing the wave while the action is ongoing is just rude. You are blocking the view of people who rightfully expect to sit and watch a ballgame.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) I really don't think the league will come down on Pods, I actually believe they'll have a moment of clarity and feel that his actions were justied. Barrett on the other hand, I believe will be made an example of. I believe they'll give him one game if they feel that he intended to just hold Barrett. If they believe he intended a take down, then 3 games.
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) Why Contreras 5 and Lee 3-5? Because Contreras is a starting pitcher. A 3 games suspension would have no effect as far as his pitching status.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) IMO the suspensions will go down like this: Anderson: 5 games Cora: 3 games AJ: Nothing Contreras: 5 games Pods: Nothing Barrett: 10 games Lee: 3-5 games Mabry: 1 game I agree on all but Pods. He'll get 1-3 games.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) If you're not an illegal immigrant, what do you have to hide? The fact that I'm a registered democrat.
  12. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 25, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) I don't doubt that one bit. We will be paying for the miscalculations of the GWB administration and the mistakes in Iraq for years to come. But it's not just Bush. It's ALL of them. They're all part of it. They're all in on it. They grandstand and throw accusations at each for the sake of distracting the public from what is really going on. Take your blinders off. Stop focusing on Bush and look at the big picture.
  13. Everything you listed is a bunch of grandstanding. Congress knew damn well how this was going to turn out. Mark my words. If we get Dem majority and a Dem president in '08, there WILL be strategic bases in Iraq. Book it.
  14. Whenever Smith is on the screen, I usually change channels.
  15. I'm with you there. They need to throw this guy under the jail.

    My Mother

We're all with you in spirit. Hang in there.
  17. Will be announced at 12 EDT, 11 Central.
  18. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 25, 2006 -> 10:08 AM) Yes they can say it. But neither you or I or anybody who has been paying attention hase ever for one second believed it, despite the parsing and plausible deniability soundbytes. You are not alone. Exactly. Which is why I don't see what everyone is up in arms about. They sidestepped the issue all along. Anyone had to know it was coming.
  19. I'm going with the Fish. I believe Girardi is in a major teaching mode now, and it will start to click for some of these youngsters.
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 25, 2006 -> 09:58 AM) I agree that is and has been the strategy long before this administration. The fact remains that it doesn't square with the words coming from the administration: And of course we've dressed our true designs up in euphemisms for a long tiime. Even bases in Germany are usually referred to as 'enduring' rather than permanent. You've presented some compelling quotes there. But, they can easily say that permanent bases were not planned at the time those statements were made. Plans change. When listening to politicians ... any politicians ... always know they use the nuances of the language to say what they want to say without saying too much.
  21. QUOTE(VAfan @ May 25, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) Yes, it was a small sample size, but it was enough -- given the fact that it included no walks and 11 or 12 Ks -- to know that he wasn't going to be able to come right in and start hitting. Heck, Joe Crede was probably better as a hitter in the minors -- didn't he win league MVPs in AA and AAA? -- yet it has taken him several years to adjust. I have no problem at all with the way that Ozzie is handling CF at the moment. He's trying to break in Anderson without costing us games. I agree that while Mack has the hot hitting hand he's going to get more time, but Ozzie is still going to push Anderson as much as he can. (I also think Pods isn't out there because Ozzie doesn't want him to get hurt trying to cover more ground.) He's also trying to break in Anderson without breaking down Anderson.
  22. It's not just Bush, it's been the m.o. of the English speaking peoples for centuries. At one point in time, 'the sun never set on the British empire'. England or the US controlled the Suez Canal, the Panama Canal, the Straits of Gibralter ... in other words, the 'gates' of the world. It's always been that way and it will always be that way as long as we are militarily able to do so. When there is a 'hotspot' somewhere, there will be Enlgish speaking military there as well.
  23. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) The key thing is we all will be in a data base and they will be checking our status to work. That's "key" for sure. More federal govt control over us. Not just the illegal immigrants, or the legal immigrants but all of us.
