  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) Isn't there one reliever somewhere in the NL who's so sidearmed that he basically scrapes his knuckles on the mound every pitch? Try that. Isn't that ex-Sox Chad Bradford?
  2. Good read here folks. Absolut Cintron
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) In my opinion, Hermanson would have regressed big time even without the injury. He doesn't have great stuff at all and can only fool American League hitters for so long with his large aray of pitches. His June and September of last year were nothing spectacular and I don't see how it's "dumb" to think that he and Politte are incredibly similar cases. You can only get by with a 86 MPH fastball for so long in the AL. I'm with you on this one. Hermanson pitched into a lot of hard outs last year. Eventually, those start avoiding gloves.
  4. I don't see Griffey as a good fit for the Sox, now. He's not close to the defender he was. He's a lefty, and could really use a RH hitting outfielder added to the equation. Plus, I think he'd cost prohibitive ... in prospects and dollars.
  5. This seems like a totally unrealistic scenario to me.
  6. Corey Patterson has sucked for 5 years. He's in a new league, but the pitchers will figure this guy out sooner or later. I'm afraid he would get here and become the Corey Patterson Chicago fondly remembers. I'd look elsewhere.
  7. Yep. I agree with you guys. They're just blowing smoke.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) It's directed at everyone.
  9. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) As a privacy advocate, I'm sort of shocked that you'd endorse the system where a student is put on a mailing list (both e-mail and snail mail), getting phone calls, etc. all without the student's consent to receive military recruitment information. I wasn't endorsing anything. I was meerly pointing out the double standard.
  10. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) Given the current split of the GOP, and the messy Dems, I think you'd see any third party that was remotely successful be centered somewhere near where the non-religious fanatic GOPers stand. Small government types, not idealogues. mildy right of center on a net basis. But no matter what that party is or becomes, it would require something that you see very, very few of in modern politics - charismatic leadership. It would need a great leader or two to spearhead it. So, who might that be? For the record, I think any third or fourth party getting more involved in the process is fantastic for this country. But I think its a longshot to happen. Sure it's a longshot. After Perot got their attention, the two parties 'were able to put aside their differences' enough to change the rules of the presidential debates to make it damn near impossible for a third party candidate to qualify for participation.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) I really don't care either way. But I do have to say that it is pathetic that someone would spend the time to gather those quotes for that site. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) She's on the air what, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year or so? I have no idea how much vacation time she got. Probably well over 200 shows per year. And they pull together like 6 or 7 quotes per year, which clearly proves she's a bleeding heart liberal. Yeah, there's some logic. Because I'm sure it'd be impossible for someone to sit down and come up with 20 times as many statements from the other side (Navy seals Rock!), or from the same side. And I'm sure she didn't read any of those off of a telestrator. And some of those are just really really stupid choices anyway. Like the only people who are annoyed with paying $3 a gallon for gas are Democrats, I'm sure. Someone spent all that time gathering her quotes. Followed by, they only find 6 or 7 quotes a year. Both very good, though somewhat conflicting, points.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) They were actually looking for Pooholes They should look in the mirror.
  13. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) Only 89.7% picked Albert Pujols as NL MVP? The other 10.3% had to be Cub fans.
  14. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 08:34 AM) I love the enthusiasm of these young fans. I have two White Sox flags on my garage, a Sox logo one I’ve put up during the season for years and a World Series Championship one. Yesterday morning I was working at my desk which is at a window that overlooks the yard. A little girl, who lives down the block, maybe 10 years old, had an even younger boy in tow and they jumped the fence to get into my yard. She takes him up to the Sox logo flag and they both take off their hats and hold them over their hearts. They put them back on and walk to the WSC on one and do it again! If I remember right, I think the little boy’s Dad is a Cub fan and am pretty sure the girl was propagating the White Sox faith among the heathen. Made my day! Oh man, that's rich! Thanks for sharing that.
  15. I've dropped 50 in, choosing first 7 guys in the Sox lineup.
  16. That was a much needed, but UGLY win. The Sox gave up three or four should've been outs in the first two innings, causing Javy to up his pitch count by striking guys out to get outs. After the 7 running inning, they put their bats to bed for the night. Javy comes out after the big inning and promptly lets Texas back in the game, though that sometimes happens after a long inning. Jenks didn't exactly close the door in the 8th. He was bailed out on a great play by Iguchi. Otherwise that shot rolls to the wall and clears the bases.
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 05:20 AM) I was thinking we could agree on Zeppelin And YAS, are you saying North America would have been better off if the Indians had controlled their borders? Hell no. The Indians would have been better off, though.
  18. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) Just a warning - since you're new. Sniping at each other is not welcome here. Direct this at jackie hayes also. Unabomber type? Bulls*** nutjob imbicilities? Bats*** crazy? A bit of 'sniping' going on there, I believe.
  19. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) The way they go about it (a program where students are automatically opted in with their personal information being given out without their consent to an organization that has shown cannot keep the data secure) is incorrect. Interested parties will find out the option of the military. Plus, they are a discriminatory organization ("Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy specifically) so they are not allowed in most schools. And when the government threatens schools that don't allow this to go on, they get their funds taken away? That is bulls***. And yes, when you have about 500 allegations of recruiters lying to students to get them to sign up (and that was in 2005...and just the reported ones) A person who wants to join the military can and will. However, the way the government is involving themselves in the school system vis a vis military recruitment is totally asinine. I guess it's okay for the public school system to be consider a government entity when it comes to issues of separation of church and state, but it's not okay for it to be a government entity when it comes to sharing data with another government entity.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 07:16 AM) And of course the only thing you look at is Moore's politics. We have a system in this country that when you are wronged you can legally seek remedies. People buy and sell other people's intellectual property all the time. That is the law in America and I respect that. Even scumbags are protected. If George Gittoes wanted complete control over his documentary, he should have paid for it himself and owned the whole thing. But he didn't and the company that took the risk on a documentary about soldiers singing songs, allowed it to be used. And they proably even made a few dollars more than from the hippies that went to art houses to watch it the first time. Damon could have refused to appear, but signed a release and it gave ABC the rights to the interview. Lesson to all, don't appear on TV and you won't have that problem. We'll see how his case pans out. That's why we have a legal system. That's all I wanted to comment on, in this thread.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) So, much like those Europeans, the Native Americans issued them work Visas? No. See what happens when you don't control your borders?
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) You are much more optimistic than I. The budget has to pass, to get it to pass, the gravy train would be out of control getting enough votes. We'd see more pork than a Jimmy Dean sausage factory. You may be right. But, what we have now totally sucks.
  23. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 07:19 AM) Of course it couldn't possibly be Dems doing the right thing? Scary when you actually agree with California Democrats? I don't think it's the right thing. I also happen to think it's politically insane on the part of the CA Dems. I can't believe the DNC isn't screaming bloody murder.
  24. There are a lot of things the ACLU has done over the years that has royally pissed me off. But, I'm glad they are around.
  25. This bill would totally nullify the will of the voters in the state. I can't believe anyone is endorsing this. Considering that California is almost always a guarenteed huge chunk of blue EC votes why aren't the Dems howling about this? Am I missing something here?
