  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) The argument that we shouldn't have to follow the requirements because someone else didn't is pretty childish, no? What happened to this country standing up for what is right, even if it isn't convenient? This is a case where there we have to find an appropriate middle ground. We aren't dealing with a sovereign nation that has to answer to world opinion. On the other hand, we are exactly that. Our enemy plays by no rules, yet we have to play by rules. We can't let them keep beheading us without striking back, yet we can't cross a line that puts us in the same light. Do I think we should be sticking to the Geneva convention ver batim? No! Do I think we should resort to maiming and killing detainees? No! This is not an army we are fighting, it's a gang of thugs. There's a middle ground somewhere that we have to find. A place where we can be effective in gathering intelligence needed to protect the homeland and advance toward winning the war on terror, yet a place where we can still maintain our national dignity. This ain't black and white.
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 07:51 AM) This is good. Now... how much you wanna bet that Osama is killed about say, around September 30, 2006? I say September 11, 2006.
  3. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) Harold Reynolds foolishly said that Cintron is filling that black hole the Sox have in CF. It was a nice mistake on his part. Apparently, he got the black holes confused and meant shortstop.
  4. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) You sure are easy to please. ACLU defends 'liberal' group/person/cause: SEE I TOLD YOU THEYS WAS LIBRAL ACLU defends 'conservative' group/person/cause: THEY JUST FAKIN IT Hey! You're beginning to catch on. Congrats.
  5. Colter is one of those conservatives that conservatives wish would just stfu.
  6. To quote NUKE ..... HELL f***ING YEAH!!!!!!!!
  7. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 04:35 AM) I've been in Anderson's corner all year. Yet he needs some consistent AB's to get his swing right which he can't get with the Sox. He can get those in AAA. The Sox aren't in the position to let a guy take his lumps at the major league level. As far as Brady's value--his RH bat, his better CF defense than Mack, decent avg and high OBP [which I believe is over .370]. He's also versatile, playing LF and RF. Looking at his Sac. Hit numbers, it looks like he can bunt as well [which the sox can always use a decent situational hitter]. The sox don't need him for his power. They need a guy who can give them good ab's and play solid defense. Brady may be that guy Probably not the best choice of sentences to use the abbreviation for sacrifice.
  8. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) He looked as close to that ball on the dive (not very close) as Makowiak did on Barret's hit. Makowiak gets ripped for the play while BA gets a pass. Mack didn't get ripped for the dive. He got ripped for the crappy route he took to get to the ball.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) Well, to get tickets, or not to get tickets. Anyone else going? YAS? Can't make it in this time. In fact, I'll be in town right after they leave.

    Crede

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) I plan on going back after my lifetime ban expires. Seriously, I'm just trying to inform another segment of Sox fans who may have been blinded to the insight I awaken in them. Sorry, I can't see you. That damn Joe Crede and his glove caused a World Series championship banner to be hung up just where it's blocking my view of you. I guess I won't have the privilege of being 'enlightened'.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) Yes, a mod with a vendetta saying cheers to a personal attack, how mature. I hope your internet banter and cleverness makes you feel good about yourself. Oh, and as I said Thome is still a great player and our 2nd most valuable player at the moment, however I want to see him get a runner home from 3rd with 1 out. However apparently that is too much to ask. Sometimes, these guys actually fail. Accept it.
  12. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) I figured. You know how it is without the green to hit me over the head. Oh! So that explains why you always disagree with me in the "buster.
  13. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) You are joking, right? If so, If not, Yes, of course I'm joking.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:18 PM) He is far superior to Mack defensively, the guy can play both RF and CF well with a terrific arm and good range. He'd be a second leadoff hitter at the bottom of the lineup (not much power but a very high OBP and above average BA). Brady Clark really is the best fit of any name that has been thrown you there yet. He would also be able to step into the leadoff spot when Ozzie decides to play the Sunday line up.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) I like the idea of Clark. That's a much more legit name for the Sox to be looking at. It makes more sense than most of the names that have thrown around.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:03 AM) I think we'll try Pods in CF, and Ozuna in LF. That may be our only real choice. Not a great one, but probably the best one, with Mack and Ozuna platooning.
  17. QUOTE(UC76 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) Did Uribe name his baby Alex? It works for a girl or a boy. Damien.
  18. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) not that i'd know of. maybe you're thinking tim purpura, the houston gm? That could be it.
  19. Prospects. We don't have the luxury of waiting on prospects to see if they ever work out. If we need to move 'em to improve the ML club, so be it.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 07:15 AM) 5 walks... Is Charlie still overthrowing the knuckleball? I noticed he was in the mid 70s with it when he started up here, and to really be successful with the knuckler, you need it the slower the better. That had to be adrenaline. He even said he was throwing too hard.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Wow, it's really hard to imagine a worse defensive outfield. Ozuna in CF with Soriano in LF may be worse, but aside from that. That was my thought as well.
  22. Thinking this thread should just disappear.
  23. Any reason why the writer, Dave Purpura, sounds familiar? I'm tying him to Soxtalk in my mind.
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) Not long term, but it might be something we could survive for a week or two. We should have another good glove, no hit CF in our system somewhere. Bring whoever this guy is, up. Send BA down to get his stroke back. I'd rather have the good defense. Edit: If we don't have one, maybe the can draft one in round 45 today!
  25. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) I just hope you guys are still happy when Mack, Pods, Gload, and Ozuna are playing CF. Obviously, that's not the answer either.
