  1. Just some thoughts on this incident that I don't think have been expressed here. The fact that the Feds wanted to wire Grimsley means they basically wanted to move him from being a 'rat' to being a 'mole'. This leads to the very distinct possibility that other players have gotten into a squeeze and the Feds have or will attempt the same with them. There could be moles in several clubhouses right now. Then, you get players wondering about their teammates. A team splintering lack of trust developes. Grab on to something and hold tight. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.
  2. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) Take them to court, and I'd be happy to Yas. Nice retort.
  3. Al-Zarqawi to Satan. "What do mean I'M one the virgins?"
  4. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) I think I'm not on the jury, and I think I'm not a lawyer. And I think I'm several states away from the case. I think its a decision best left up to the judge and jury and not me. If only you'd use this philosophy when it comes to dealing with terrorists.
  5. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) If we can get him and Latroy Hawkins, GOLDEN!, the guy has turned his swing into more of a line drive swing and just about every homerun he has hit this year has been very dye-esk it just looks like a line drive and then *poof* its gone! The O's have moved him up in the order the past few games, hes curently batting 6th instead of 8th where he was a few weeks ago, this is going to present more RBI opportunities for him. im intrestead to see how he handles it. Oh the irony of that. Patterson and Hawkins, two guys run out of town by Cub fans helping us to a repeat. GOLDEN! indeed.
  6. I thought of Cameron a few days ago, but then dismissed him as an option simply because I knew SD got him specifically to patrol CF in Petco.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) Wondeful. Once again, since baseball and especially the players union has taken the "easy" way out for all of these years, all it takes is a rumor to bring down the rep of a player. Could Pujols be juicing, sure, heck anyone could be, and we wouldn't know it. But since baseball avoided doing the right thing for all of these years, we have to put up with this stuff. And it's going to stay that way until the union bites the bullet and allows true comprehensive testing.
  8. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 07:50 AM) Aerosmith is decent in it, and that's about where it all ends. You mean you didn't like Peter Frampton's performance?
  9. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 08:10 AM) So... Pete Stark is an idiot. And? I only see one Dem saying something dumb. The others quoted are simply putting this in the proper perspective - that this is a tiny step in a long battle - and they are right. Let's now apply Mr. Stark's quote to the whole party. Oh ... you mean the Coulter rules.
  10. Of course, this date was a bunch of crap. The world won't end until 12-21-2012.
  11. I saw Preston a couple of times as an opening act in the 70's. Sorry to hear this. RIP.

    Erstad

Mercy. The only real problem I had with the Erstad idea was that he's a lefty and we need a RH hitting OF'er. I believe Dye has 1 gold glove, btw.
  13. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) It's not a liberal boo hoo stance. It's a new testament stance, if ya gotta know. Enjoy your relish.
  14. If Pods hadn't held the runner at 1st, and that flyball ended up being a base hit, then the Tigers score 2.
  15. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) At Comerica do they do the "oh we oh... MAG LI OH" chant? If they don't, they ought to. I always thought that was the stupidest chant...
  16. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) First off, when we invaded Afghanistan, the people we sent to Cuba seem to qualify as a prisoner of war.... Which seems to be the very definition of an enemy combatant. Here are the protections afforded prisoners of war So the problem is what, again, with the Geneva Conventions? Afghanistan. They haven't nor ever will organize themselves into an army. GC. They don't recognize it. We shouldn't take it verbatim in this instance. Take your liberal boo-hoo stance for the poor poor terrorists and relish it all you want. We aren't going to agree on this and there is no need for further discussion.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) How come we get all these WSI castoffs... Just lucky I guess. :rolly
  18. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) There's no middle ground when it comes to maintaining human dignity. Who that human is is immaterial to me. All humans deserve a basic level of respect and dignity, regardless of their behavior. I disagree. You have to protect the homeland first and foremost. When dealing whit scum, treat 'em like scum. Ehhhhh. Wait. I retract that statement. Too reactionary. Offering these guys the same protections as mandated by the GC just isn't going to work. There is a middle ground, and we can find it.
  19. I love to hear about new Sox fans! Congrats CC!
  20. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) My Caption: "Just shoot me now!" Hook 'em Horns! ummm wait, that's not right...
  21. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) That's funny, most women in their twenties have AAs as their best friends. . . Named BOB, of course.
  22. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) I think we can achieve that middle ground and still follow the Geneva conventions. We can be tough without caving to anger. Its tough - tougher than the road this Administration has chosen - but it can be done. it includes acknowledging our mistakes, and trying to actually change the things that make so many Middle Easterners so angry. But it also includes raids like the one that got Zarqawi, and an unabated push to arrest or kill as many terrorists as we can find. I do agree with you, though, that we cannot go into this blindly thinking we can use nation-state mentality. Won't work. These are thugs, no question about it. But like common criminals in a city like Chicago, if you want to reduce crime, you have to crack down on criminals AND address the things that create those criminals to begin with (poverty, crappy schools, infrastructure, health care, governmental corruption). And you have to play by a set of rules, even when they don't. You can't find a middle ground AND stick to the Geneva convention. That, by definition, is impossible. Even you sat the nation-state mentality won't work. War between nation-states is what the Geneva convention addresses.
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) Its too bad, but it is getting to the point where this isn't helping Brian at all. The most important thing is his getting ABs to further his development. In a way I wouldn't mind seeing him head to Charlotte, but at the sametime I don't want to see his confidence flushed down the toilet either, as we are going to need him this year. Either way we go, it's a risk to Brian's developement.
  24. I'd be for putting Anderson in there every day for 2 weeks and see what happens, but I think he's mentally screwed right now.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 08:08 AM) No doubt about that... The thing I hate about Colter, is the very thing I hate about a multitude of the liberal media. Viciousness.
