  1. Let's not have this escalate, guys.
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) No way, you damn yankee. You know, I'd offer to buy you one but you stood me up last time. I still blame my girlfriend for that one.
  3. It got some Americans focused on the issue. Like when the flew the Mexican flag above the US flag. Flew the US flag upside down as a symbol of disrespect. Yes, I'll give you that point, they helped "focus" the issue.
  4. QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) you're welcome, yasny i have a lot more insight too, so keep reading my posts! Certainly!
  5. QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) lol, it'll never happen Thank you for that insight, mr_genius.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) That would be the ultimate way to stop a lot of problems in the world, but we all know better than that. I know. Just a moment of wishful thinking.
  7. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) Every little bit helps. I liked SS2K5's idea for stopping illegals from wiring money home. Take their second biggest source of income ( aside from narcotics traffic ) and they'll take notice alright. If we can only get Americans to boycott drugs.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) It is but it isin't. Shame on our elected officials for pandering to business interests and the Hispanic community for all these years and allowing this problem to fester. We let them do it.
  9. No NUKE. It is really great that a small band people, reviled by the leftists, were able bring the issue into focus.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) Now that would actually do it. Of course, presumably you'd be willing to make exceptions for people who were actually on legal visas. Requirement of legal standing would be enough.
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) Crash just another great Rowand moment By Alex Bozich [email protected] In perhaps the toughest move he ever had to make, White Sox GM Kenny Williams traded Aaron Rowand just months after his team won its first World Title since 1917. Read More... Good write up. You summed up my feelings about ARow perfectly.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) It's neither a felony nor a misdemenor. Basically you're picked up and sent home, there's no punishment phase at all (which, if we did that right now, would require jailing another 15 million folks, of course). If the borders were secure, picking up and sending them home would be punishment.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) Yup. All $25 million of that aid we give to Mexico. Cut that, and i'm sure they'll stand up and take notice. Whatever the number, it would be a good start. Then, perhaps, a tourism boycott of Mexico might get their attention a bit more.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) The situation on the southern border is not a good one. But it's certainly not at a turning point or expecting abrupt change or deterioration. If we did absolutely nothing right now, what would happen? The same number of immigrants who snuck across last week would sneak across this week. And so on through the end of the year, with only a little bit of variance. If you expected that in 1 week, 10x that number would try to cross, ok, that would be a turning point, and a crisis. But right now, the situation is at least stable. It's not stable in a good way, but it's not getting dramatically worse. Of course, the situation is not good, and it is time to do something about it in terms of legislation. Guest worker program allowing a path to citizenship, increased enforcment against businesses hiring illegals, a program to register those who are already here, and criminalizing future illegal immigration would be logical steps. But anywho, it's certianly not a crisis. A crisis will be what happens when there's an earthquake in San Francisco or L.A. and the California National Guard is 1/2 in Iraq and 1/3 sitting along the southern border with 95% of it's equipment gone. Well, the situation on the border is damn sure not acceptable. Also, I was under the impression that illegal immigration has always been criminalized.
  15. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) According to the Sox's web site, the Cell's capacity is 40,615. I also recall our WS attendance figures being in the 41,000+ range (standing room only, I'm assuming). The Cubs and Red Sox pack their stadiums every day. There's no reason why we can't. Sorry, I meant "best teams on paper." We were never consider the best team on paper, so I see your point.
  16. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 16, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) Yep, and our ALCS and WS opponents also lost their aces to injuries. If the best teams in each league were to have won their respective pennants last year, we would've seen an Angels/Cards WS. Blasphemy!
  17. 70's - Dick Allen, Bill Melton 80's - Carlton Fisk, Harold Baines 90's - Robin Ventura, Frank Thomas 00's - Mark Buehrle, Paul Konerko
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) Right now, Josh Fields is pushing a .419 OBP. 15 walks in 121 at bats. That's not terrible. In fact it's pretty good. He wouldn't be the fastest guy in that position in the league, but well, think about a Grady Sizemore type. Get a lot of hits, hit with some power, but also get on base a lot. You wouldn't want to put a non-leadoff type rookie in the leadoff spot on a big league team. Way too much pressure.
  19. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 16, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) My expectations are to repeat. Even with a better "team", I know it will most likely be a lot more difficult and gut wrenching this year. I'm thinking about game 6's and 7's and I'm not looking forward to them. We didn't have to deal with elimination games last year. I don't think we'll have that luxury this time around. Prepare for the madness and hopefully another trophy in the end. Very good point about no elimination games. Win or die trying never really came into play, did it?

    QUOTE(qwerty @ May 16, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) Has anyone here seen the lost city? No. Where'd you lose it? Sorry. I've had a few.
  21. This organization needs another trophy. We need to bury that second team crap forever.
  22. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 16, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) I could see us eventually dealing both of those guys, but not this year. And we won't dump Uribe until we have somebody in our farm system who will be as good defensively. That may take a while. Pods will likely be the first to go, but I'm not sure that Ozuna is good enough to be a starter. Ozuna's not good enough to be a starter.
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 16, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) ....so we each get 2 beers. Sounds like a plan.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:06 AM) I will be as nice about this as I can be... Ozuna is a horrible left fielder, and would not do well playing everyday. There is zero chance of Uribe getting traded this year, short of Juan saying "trade me or else". Who are you and where is the real SS2K5?
  25. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) Yes sir, that is correct. He's showing he can really hit, he has that QB arm, more than strong enough to play LF, and he has adequate speed. Plus we want to move him, since we think he has MLB potential but we have that Crede guy over at 3rd . Of course, the 'organization' in this case is Soxtalk.
