  1. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) Who would I pray to. If you believe no higher power exists, I guess you're destined to be an asshole in my eyes forever. Just because someone has no faith doesn't make them an asshole. However, you take someone that attempts to talk down to, or belittle, a person of faith because the other person's views are faith based, then yes, I think the term applies.
  2. QUOTE(Elcaballo45 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) Well, since I have no idea how Chris will do as a radio announcer, I think I'll wait and see how he does before I object to not hiring a more experienced announcer.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) New Yorker. I just always find that interesting...more voters for the Democrats for the Senate, but based on how the state lines are drawn, the Republicans wind up with a solid Senate majority. The states lines are carved in stone. The candidates within a state have nothing to do with a neighboring state. How do you explain the House? Excepting Texas, of course. Pulling that one out of your arsenal before you fire.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) But, if Roe v. Wade were to be overturned, what would be out there to stop the Republicans from seeking a national ban? In the short term it would fall to the states yes, but if the Republicans still held solid majorities in the House and Senate, and could get a few of the pro-life Democrats in the Senate to vote for cloture, it could very easily happen. Then the will of the voter will rule. What a concept.
  5. Hey Anthrax ... do yourself a favor and just shut up. End it all ready. No ... wait a minute. You don't have to end it, because I am. I don't give a rat's ass what you have to say from this point forward, I am not going to dignify you with a response. Then again, dignity is something that is as foreign to you as faith.
  6. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 11:03 AM) The difference is you will not listen to reason, you have been taught that your way is the only way.. and the right way. I know I was there, my sister and mother are still there now. Their mind games they play have worked on you.. as it does most others. From reading your mini bio, I understand a little more why you think this way.. being you are almost 50 and live in partial south, they live and breath Religion. I have experience this also for I lived in AL for a couple of years. You think their is a god because you have been told by them that this is true, no other reason can you give.. You can say Faith.. if you have faith prove it.. Send me a check for $1000, and have faith that I will pay you back one day.. Like all that I have put this challenge to, you have more faith in nothing than your fellow man. With that being said.. How does God help us again? You are so wrong. I was born and raised in CHICAGOLAND. Don't throw that bible belt predujice at me. The age thing is also prejudiced. I was not raised in "religious household" so 'they' didn't tell me that this is the truth. You still cannot understand where I'm coming from, as I said in my last post directed at you. Let it die.
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) Scientists of the day thought the same thing and shunned his theory. Shall we start to list all the wrong theories in science? Perhaps we should head to the barber shop and get bled to clear up that cough? And this is the alter at which you worship? Damn!
  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) Become a lib. That will show them. Librarian? ... eh, maybe. Libertarian? ... very possible. Liberace'? ... There are two things I don't play, one of which is the piano.
  9. QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) Tell it the ABA. Well qulaified!!!!!!! Enough said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger And let me add .... :finger :finger :finger
  10. QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) You never disappoint, Yas. I fully expected that comeback. I must stop being so predictable.
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) Go to hell! Always interesting, and the Larry King of Soxtalk. He's the King of the All-Nighters Takes adolecents to out of the way caves.
  12. QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) That's Reagan's line. Actually .. it's BTO's line.
  13. QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:27 AM) The GOP also has: http://www.rnc.org/ Covering their bases.
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) I keep humming Helen Reddy songs when I see his name . . . We use to initiate the fish by having them sing "I am Woman" One of Soxtalk's best ... even if you can't push his buttons.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 05:48 PM) I was passing a car today that had "right side steering" and wondered about the pedals. Is the gas to the right or left of the brake? I've always assumed that the gas is always operated with the right foot, but then got to thinking that may be innacurate. If you are 'perplexing' over this, you have too much time on your hands.
  16. Go To Hell! Just kidding.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) No problem. I know things were getting heated and we probably pushed the right buttons for you to say that. Thank you.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 06:23 AM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Now my friend, have faith that liberals can be religious. When we hear Jesus say, If you love me, feed my sheep. We believe that is for longer than 52 weeks and can be done through the government, as long as the people are fed. When we hear, thou shall not kill, we take that as absolute and not to include punishment. We see God in everyone and refuse to turn our backs and believe collectively we can do more. We see Jesus feeding the masses even though the masses didn't plan ahead of time and bring their own loaf and fish, and think we can feed the masses. We point to passages that prove God's love for us. Peace. I'm not going to search through this entire thread, but I don't believe I said liberals can't be religious. The liberal platform, as a whole, has a couple of planks that I feel are very ... well, let me just use the word "wrong". I know there are many good, God respecting people that happen to agree with many aspects of the liberal agenda. I don't believe said anything along the lines of a person who is a liberal is therefore Godless. If I did, feel free to point it out to me and we'll discuss it. I might even recant.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) You mean you aren't a Carl Yastremsky fan? Actually that is what I thought at first. I've never made that connection before. YAS ain't a bad nickname for my nickname. Last AL Triple Crown winner and HOF'er. Not bad at all.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) Yet people still call you YANSY I've seen that so often, I hardly ever notice anymore.
  21. He sure laid that ice rink out when the grass was green. Seems like he went to a lot of trouble to do it too. I have an easier idea. Clear the snow from the area to be your rink. Bank up the snow around the perimeter. Fill with water.
  22. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:37 AM) I don't the sox are hyping up the young pitchers. If anything the sox don't make moves unless they have a solid backup plan. With the trades of Viz and Marte, if the sox didn't think they have guys who could at least duplicate their production in house, I don't think the sox would make the deals. Esp with the cost of bullpen help goin through the roof, in terms of FA salary and talent in trade. I think the sox knew they wouldn't be able to make a trade for bullpen help. that meant they'd be going into ST with the young guys. I don't mind that at all. It's funny, every screams when we trade a prospect, but nobody wants to give the kids a shot.
  23. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) I guess I don't mind it too much. He played pretty evenly on 3 teams and he didn't win a World Series with the Cardinals. 1982 (I think) ... over the Brewers.
