  1. Anthrax, I'm not running from anything. We cannot debate this issue and there is a very simple reason for it. You cannot comprehend my point of view. My point of view is based on something you do not understand, and will refuse to acknowledge. I'm talking about faith. That is entire basis for belief, even to extent of choosing faith over logic. Logic, such as 'There is no God because there is no scientific proof that exists'. If you do not have faith, you cannot understand or comprehend faith or the strength of that faith. I'll tell you something. I know God exists. I know it for a fact. Yet, I'm not going to even begin to try and explain to how I know, as you'll dismiss it outright. A debate on this subject, between us, is not worth my time or effort. Now then, to the two of you I told to "go to hell", I apologize to each of you for my outburst. However, it couldn't have been too insulting to you since in your opinions, hell does not exist ... unless you are talking about a small town in Michigan.
  2. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) SO if we subscribe to the SI stuff, I know we get the book + some collectibles. But what happens if I pull out of the subscription after I get one or 2 copies and decide to get my $$$ back.....do I still get those free gifts to keep? Sorry I have just started my WS shopping ... just got some cool deals at MLB.com and am trying to figure this SI stuff out I don't know, but I'd hang in there till the swimsuit issue comes out in February.
  3. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) I am giving you the truth and you can't accept the facts.. or even try and debate me.. Your a fairly intelligent man, use the muscle in between your ears and see the lies that you have been told for years.. I know its hard to do. For men/ women can not accept change. So If my beliefs are that we should rape little girls so that they won't have sex until later on in life, that is okay and no one should have a problem with them because they are mine.. And if not then they are not respecting them? (And yes this is the same argument) Lastly, Hell is a about as real as me becoming the first black President. Heaven on the other hand is attainable, if one knows the secrets that Jesus told us, to bad the Church and Bible have it wrong. You are giving me your opinion. That said, I'm out of this thread. No, I'm not going to show you the respect of debate as you showed me a total lack of respect for my beliefs. I'm out.
  4. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) Don't you all love how religion breeds love and not hatred? You are on here trying to prove a point that God does not exist. Then you have the nerve to throw Jesus in my face? Who are you to have a clue what Jesus what or would not agree with? He told me my beliefs were a load of crap? Where was your moral arrogance then? As I said to him, I say to you ... Go To Hell.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Jesus would be proud of you. You don't believe anyway.... shut the hell up.
  6. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) SOrry Yansy.. That is biggest load of crap I have ever heard on this topic.. That if we turn our back on nothing the country will go to s***? Why do you say this? You belive in a magical being as real as the easter bunny and Santa Claus.. Great, Science has proven that most of what the "Church" has taught is being proven wrong through out the centuries.. The "Chruch" plays a guessing game, and with their track record I am not to sure there is a GOD. Forget the "God" idea and start learning from the great men who have lived on this earth starting with Socrates.. Who says and I quote " He who knows right will do right" This is man that live in about 470bc..and about 2000 miles from the start of the cult. Sorry if you are going to make a claim such as that, you have to back it up.. Sorry this is one subject that erks me, to see so many people waste their lives without knowing the truth. I tried to give you the right to believe as you believe, or not believe, as the case may be. I was respecting your beliefs. Now, you turn around and say my beliefs are "the biggest load od crap I have ever heard" ... Go to hell. As you surely will.
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) Amen Just who are you saying "Amen" to?
  8. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) I would love one, since there is no god.. If there is please show me proof.. One must ask the simple question Did God create man, or did man create god to give their lives meaning? personally I see the lader.. As is your right.
  9. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) I mean I was pissed at KW and Jerry Manuel for years.. I still bought Sox stuff.. You can't turn your back on your team because management can't get it right.. Other than those 2 deals, I can't name one that has benfitted the cubs? Their main problem is pitching and Hendry fails to realize this. He hangs onto the 03 season and wishes that Wood(s) and Prior can come back to that form. The much totated Cubs Minor leagues pitching has also been a flop, its too bad.. I love Lee, think he is the 2nd best 1b in the NL.. sad to see him on such a losey team... Though He will soon be a Yankee in the next couple of years. Trading Hundley to LA worked out fairly well for them.
  10. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 12:21 PM) I love the last line and it is so true.. Yet Cubs fans fail to realize it. I started to quote that line in my original post. But, I thought it was best just where it was.
  11. QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) I'm sorry. I'm not .... considering the alternative.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) I need some advice. Where can I buy something for a 3 week old fetus? None of the stores seem to have that size. Dude ... lose a child to miscarriage and see how you feel about it. I know many people that have agonized about that circumstance as much as anyone that has lost a child that has been born. And, I have lost a child, so I know what I'm talking about.
  13. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) Oh come on now - of course they did. Seriously. It was said that this was over a piece of land in Israel, which CLEARLY connects Palestinian national interests with Al Qaeda. Anyone claiming otherwise is being obtuse in the extreme. That (a piece of land in Isreal) was a part of the Al Qaeda's agenda. I'll give that point ... but only that point. It's more about getting "the infidels" off of "Muslim land" than it is about the Palestinians. Remember, prior the establishment of the state of Isreal, the Arab/Muslim world didn't really give a damn about the Palestinians.
  14. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) Is that a fact or a belief? I believe it's a fact.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) *waits for Chappaquiddick joke* Not a matter to be jiked about.
  16. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) As much as I love to argue semantics and whether or not you truly believe that liberals kill babies - which I'm sure that you don't by the way - it frankly bores me and I'd like to counteract the perception that you have that liberals believe in abortion. I guess liberals believe in abortion in as much as there is a procedure named abortion and that it happens on occasion. But I think liberals believe that abortion isn't a political issue. I think liberals believe that a woman has a right to choose what happens to her body and that the consequences she faces are her own, and not society's. I think that liberals believe that the question of when life begins is a complicated one and can't be summed up by all the Supreme Courts and Congresses put together, because its an issue that affects people deeply and personally. And I think liberals have different feelings on the issue and although most of them may think that an abortion option should be kept safe and legal, I think that this doesn't describe every bleedin heart out there. Because I think liberals think freely. Of course I think that conservatives think freely. Of course reading posts in this forum would cause you to think otherwise... On occasion? :headshake As for the rest of it ... Call it what you want to, there are still babies being killed and most of them are being killed for the purposes of contraception.
  17. QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) What are you doing? I don't know what he is doing, but I know what he's not doing. He's not reading what's written.
  18. QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) David Kirkpatrick of the New York Times has already seen them and there seems to be nothing there: Mr. Morgan's memorandum and other records of Concerned Alumni are contained at the Library of Congress in the papers of William A. Rusher, a leader of the group and a former publisher of National Review. Those records and others at Mudd Library at Princeton give no indication that Judge Alito, who sits on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, was among the group's major donors. He was not an active leader of the group, and two of his classmates who were involved and Mr. Rusher said they did not remember his playing a role. In other words, Kennedy is being a blowhard.
  19. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) Yeah, if I werer JR/KW I would avoid drafting players who have Boras as a rep (they do have reps before they are drafted, right?). However, that doesn't apply here. For bettor or worse, they signed Crede and now that they have him I repeat: at least go to the table prepared with "final offer" figures, but don't just give up and refuse to negotiate something other then a stopgap 1 year contract. Am I missing anything here? SFF The Sox ARE negotiating with Boras about Crede. They, at this point, don't have a choice. The point is that they when they can choose, they choose not to. Examples being Boras represented potential draftees and free agents.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) In your opinion. It's a fact. The sentence says what it says. Nothing more, nothing less.
  21. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) You're making that point. But there are others in the thread (Posts 2, 3, and 4) are clearly not. You are assuming that they were making the points which you found so disturbing. They didn't.
  22. QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) But you forgot to mention that Matt Lauer called Alito an ultra conservative. With hosts like Couric and Lauer, the Today Show has two liberals on screen all the time. Yeah, but Katie's cute. Hey! Gimme a break, I'm 48.
  23. The article talks about the vast differences between the audience of "conservative media" vs. the mainstream media of the networks and newspapers. We are still talking about cable news and various specific instances on the Today show. Either the point is totally being missed or totally being ignored.
  24. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) OK fine, substitute muslim for palestinian and the point is exactly the goddamn same. The point is not "exactly the goddamn same". It's entirely different. Al-Qaida called upon all Muslims to puch isreal into the sea. You said: Let's try this now ... Now, I make the point that though all Muslim does not = Al Qaeda, that all Al Qaeda = Muslim. Your "point" is not the goddamn same. Not even close.
  25. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) there is good reason for that rule a judge shouldn't already know how he will rule a case before he hears it. Exactly!!!! Which is what Ginsberg, Roberts and now Alito keep trying to tell these senators.
