Game Thread 5-8-2005 Sox vs Blueballs er Jays
WhiteSox311, you're acting like a jerk. I would highly recommend you stop it. Back to the game talk. Guys, I see most of you thought Crede was safe on that steal attempt, but he was out. When he cut his slide short and started his pop up slide, he was tagged on the knee. Once he was up, there was no tag applied before he reached the bag, but he was tagged as the fielder raised his glove.

Whitesox trivia
QUOTE(TLAK @ May 8, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) Tommy John How did the White Sox acquire Tommy John? Trying to remember this one .... They got him from Cleveland, I know. I think they traded John Romano for him. Not sure. In the event that I'm correct: Who was the Sox rookie SS that made the cover of Sports Illustrated before they broke camp in spring training?

Frank feels better, may not need minor-league rehab
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 8, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) I would like to see Frank in the field. I trust him more than Pauly at hitting. Frank's had two season ending injuries occur while playing defense. He can't hit if he's on the DL. Leave Frank as DH, or on the bench vs. NL.

Most Valuable Acquisition After 28 Games
It's really amazing. All of these guys have contributed something to this team. Dye's gotton off to a slow start, but he is a player and he'll be fine. Pods has been the sparkplug. Iguchi has been very solid at 2B and been the consumate pro in the number 2 spot in the order. Hermanson has been a rock. Vizcaino took one for the team, but he's a solid bullpen guy. AJ has been great in all ways. What a pickup he has been. Widger has stepped in for AJ and we haven't felt like we were a weaker team with him in the lineup. He's done great with the pitching staff also. El Duque has done a good job as well, and I believe he's been a part of the equation with Contreras' success. A damn amazing job by KW when you consider how all the pieces of the puzzle have fallen into place so far.

05best sox team ever
QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ May 7, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) sox keep on rollin, cubs keep on losing...the sox have been the talk of the town. you know what would be messed up? if in the end the sox dont go to the playoffs and the cubs do. I'm seeing more articles and columns in the Chicago press about the Cubs losing streak than I am about the Sox winning streak.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) I know but his career numbers as a starter aren't great. Should we go by half a season of starts to judge him? If he was a good starter he would be in the Blue Jays rotation. I was going by what I saw when he pitched for us when healthy. That's all.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) I doubt a guy with a career 5.17 ERA has good numbers as a starter. He was decent for us last year before he got hurt. That's a fact, Jack.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) No, nothing against Viz, I like Luis a lot, I guess I just would have liked to see Neal finish the inning but no big deal. I have absolutely nothing to complain about right now I'm calling bulls***. You were b****ing when you thought Viz was starting the inning.

Sox @ Poo Jays (5/7 @ 12:07 p.m. CT | TV: WGN)
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Ok, this is wierd, now viz is coming in. Anyways I think neal put this glove on his left hand for a 2nd before the inning so I thought viz was in. Why do you not like Viz coming into the game?
