Thankfully, the Sox are not on the cover. :brow wiping smilie:

.... when you are 47 years old, can't remember the Sox being in a world series and still are an active and avid fan.

Game Thread 5-11-2005 Sox .vs. Suckfish
YASNY replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Let's see here. We came into the game at 24-9 with the best record in all of baseball. We never fell behind in this game. Yet, I just read through 26+ pages of b****ing, whining, moaning, cussing and complaining. Sox fans my ass. -
QUOTE(JimH @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) One of my points is that it's not likely Sox brass is even discussing having McCarthy fill a long relief role. If the did I'd be very surprised. Personally I believe they like having a "starter in waiting" and would look at every other alternative if they needed a long man. Based on their statements, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet. Adkins would be that long man, I would guess.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Get out!? That said, wanting to shoot down a single-engine Cesna because some greenhorn doesn't know what he's doing? Yikes. We are talking national security here. That's EXACTLY what they should do if the believe there is a credible threat ... moron pilot or not.

QUOTE(AirScott @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) please everybody stop with the arbitration arguement. we're trying to win NOW, not in 2011. if B Mac can help us win NOW, and we instead lose him to free agency in 2011 instead of 2012, then call him up and start the arbitration clock. The arbitration argument is valid if BMac is not ready, or other options are available that have as much chance of filling our needs. You don't want to pull that trigger, or the "option" trigger on a guy like BMac if you don't have to.

I'm hearing a Fox reporter criticizing what happened because she didn't know what was going on ... "There was a lot of confusion." ... Yet, I'm also hearing the evacuation took place "post haste". Apparently this reporter thinks they should have stopped and filled her in. :rolly

QUOTE(Steff @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) I agree with you there for sure. Private planes over the White House, and I am assuming it was that close I have no idea, have many times over the years found themselves military escorts in a matter of seconds within crossing the restricted zone. I'd say that's a reasonable assumption.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) For a commercial plane, yes it did. A shame.. Point taken. I was referring to the fighters being scrambled.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) I don't think this would have played out any different pre 9/11. Not over the WH anyway. JMO... It played out much differently on 9/11

A small aircraft violated airspace over DC. This is apparently on it's way to being over.
-
People are being allowed back into the White house.
-
QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) I wonder what the reason is??????? Nothing on that yet. Speculation that maybe breech of air space. Military is in the air.
-
QUOTE(sec159row2 @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) stock market is selling off.. ... buy the rumor sell the news... They are showing scenes of people running from the Capitol. This is no rumor.
-
The US Capitol and the White House are being evacuated "as quickly as possible" ... That's all I know.
-
Be careful! That neighborhood can be rough.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) I dont understand how everyone thinks he is this SOLID veteran. He was good a couple of years ago, has been injury prone and never quite lived up to expectations. Just because he has been in the league for awhile doesnt mean he is good. Its becoming time to face the facts that we got Jermaine at a good price because he isnt worth much more. At this point im almost more comfortable with Timo playing in RF, because at least he wont be as lazy and may not try to hit Hr's every time at bat. Dye's had some very flukey injuries. It's not like he's got a chronic recurring problem. Those injuries have hampered his productivity. When healthy, he's always been a solid productive major leaguer and I believe he still can be one. I don't think Jermaine is washed up. But, hey, it's only my opinion.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ May 11, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) The Sun-Times said yesterday said we'll face, in order: Zambrano, Maddux and Prior. Perfect set up for us to sweep their Cubby blue asses and demoralized all of Cubdumb for months.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ May 11, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) The one who thinks getting the wave going is the key to baseball games and pretends to understand Pena? I'd take her over Manuel. I was thinking Manuel might be a good fit. He has the patience of a saint, and he'd need it.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:06 AM) So actually if I am understanding the pattern correctly, we lose again today, and then go on another 8 game winning streak right? I propose we steal one today, and then start an 8 gamer tomorrow. -
QUOTE(rafacosta @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) It will be a great season to be around... So far, so good.
-
QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) You and me both... Personally, I love it much more after 8 wins.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) I need to learn to simplify things don't I. You explained quite well. My post was just a bit of reinforcement.
