    Man Date

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) It's rare I will just go out with a friend. Well, one of my buddies and I will go to guitar shows (conventions), but we never go out to eat or the movies just the two of us. I will hook up with people after work at a bar, but I won't go out to dinner or the movies with them. But I am an odd criiter in those ways, I guess. If I am not with my wife and/or kids when I go out, I prefer to be alone. I love going to the movies by myself, going to dinner by myself, so on and so forth. I even go to concerts alone. It's just easier to not have to deal with what somebody else wants to do. I come and go as I please. But I did put down "once a month or less", as I am not opposed to ever go out with a buddy, it's just easier to always fly solo. You sound like you are very similar to me. We should "not get together" sometime.
  2. With the history of the catholics vs the protestants throughout Europe for the past several centuries, this isn't all that shocking.
  3. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) we're going to have to run that idea through the proper channels first Email KW and see what he thinks.

    Man Date

I read part of your posts, Soxy. I can tell you this. Men do need to speak of unspoken rules as they both know and understand those rules as well as they know their last name. They alos know when those rules don't apply when it comes to a "best buddy" type relationship. For example, the death of a close family member eliminates all hesitation of giving a close friend a hug. Why? Because he needs to know you really care and when it comes down to it, that's all that matters. Two days after the funeral, everything goes back to normal.
  5. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) I guess im the only one who likes them So far.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Oh also, i went to an Illini baseball game with Steve (soxnbears), that was one hot date Sporting events with a buddy do not count as "man dates".
  7. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) What are we gonna do about those 2-5 West Coast trips? I suggest turning them into 5-2 west coast trips.

    Sex in a Car

QUOTE(Beastly @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) I don't believe in underaged drinking or unprotected sex...its really wrong at this age...but everyone knows my views...its immoral, I guess you grew up with what values your parents gave you and I praise my parents for teaching me these values so I don't end up like a few people I know. TRU's night made me think of what I would not want to do. I mean I sound lame with this, but fathering as a teenager is not cool, in every situation possible. He makes the choice, and you know how it goes from there. Although I do not object to making out with someone in my car, because its not sex and you aren't getting anyone pregnant. Words of Beastly, everyone be suprised. Hang on to values as long as possible. You are not being steered wrong.
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) Probably because he wasn't in the game at the time... The dugout is not "in position" to make the play? :rolly
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) Another one who doesn't know s*** about baseball and is mentally challenged. :rolly I'll tell you waht. If SS2k5 is mentally challenged and doesn't know s*** about baseball, then I'd be honored to be classified right along with him.
  11. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) You need to get a clue. You over rate Joe all the time. It's sickening to the point you resemble Cub fans. He's not very good. Not with the bad or the glove. Maybe in your mind he is but he hasn't proven a thing in either dept on the field. Yeah that's why you don't like the numbers. They don't lie. They tell the truth. No room for delusional thinking there. Do yourself a favor. Look up Joe's ZR & compare it to other 3B. Choose either LT or 2005. He's among the worst. Not the best. I'm not enamored with the way Crede has played. He's been a disappointment. But the guy showed enough in the minors that I believe he's worth giving an extended opportunity to. Similar to what the Dodgers did with Beltre. However, regarding the numbers thing. You seem to think that they tell the whole story. The don't, and very often the are more misleading because baseball is a team game. If you are a 3B with a SS that doesn't go to hole very well, you cheat that way. If you have and offspeed pitcher on the mound, you cheat toward the line for right handed hitters. Your "zone" doesn't change based on game scenarios. There is something to be said for playing, watching and coaching the game for years that you will never pick up by "juggling" your damn stats.
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Hey Captain Stat, take a look at the box score. Mauer wasn't catching. So much for seeing the play. Knock off the imflammatory adjectives as well. There's been a lot of "clueless" "ignorant" "stupid" "ridiculous" etc. coming out of your yap lately. Qwerty is right, you're doing a good job pissing people off. Think about this ... Cora is one of the most aggressive 3B coaches in the league and Iguchi does have base stealer speed. I wonder why Cora didn't send him ... um, maybe because he would have been thrown out by 10 feet. But ... you know better I'm sure.
  13. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) That's the kind of guy Mark is. He'll never blame any one else. But it doesn't change the fact that a player with a poor ZR (.684) attempted to make a play in a zone covered by a player with a great ZR (.905). Crede is not even getting to 70% of the balls for a 3B zone. Yet Uribe is over 90% for a SS zone. It's a no-brainer. Believe what you will. I saw the play. Mauer is no where in position to make that play, Iggy has base stealing speed & Hunter's throw would have needed to be perfect to throw him out. No where even close to being out by 10 ft. That's ridiculous. Get a clue. Learn something about baseball besides goddamn stats.
  14. I cannot believe how many so called knowledgable baseball fans do not understand the basic concepts of baseball that are taught from little league on. I am totally dumbfounded by some of the statements that have been made referring to that Crede play. Un-f***ing-believable.
  15. Zones? Ok. A third baseman is taught to get to anything he can get to, including cutting off the shortstop, because he headed toward first base and the shortstop is headed away. So that's a third baseman's zone. If you can get to it, it's your ball.
  16. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:47 AM) Rowand needs to step it up, as well as Uribe, I agree with you there. They will.
  17. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) oh yea, i remember last yr, the sox were hitting the ball well. then they faced santana and were in a slump. (>when is that episode of mtv cribs gonna be on when JD is featured?) Tuesday, I think.
  18. QUOTE(quade36 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Okay, in 2000 I stopped reading the Tribune because the day the Sox clinched the division the biggest article on their front page of the sports section was Kerry Woods pitches an eight inning gem, and in a small corner, Sox clinch division. Well, after a few years of reading the suntimes, I eventually went back to the trib. I know I know, its still biased, but the suntimes writers are just so horrid. I really didn't have a choice. Well, I was yet again shocked by the Trib but in a different way this past Sunday. As you all know Saturday night the Bulls clinched their first playoff birth in 8 years. Thats pretty big news if you ask me. In fact, its gigantic. While eating breakfast with my girlfriend I pointed out to her how the cubs and Carlos Zambrano's great game were gigantically smacked right in the middle of the first page of the sports section, and oh, in the bottom corner, Bulls clinch playoff birth. I understand the trib's bias against the Sox, but the Bulls? Thats jsut a load.... It's a matter of one branch of the company hyping another branch of it. If the Trib owned the Bulls, they'd be trumpeting the Bulls success. It's all about cha-ching.
  19. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) It's pointless to argue this. The guy gave up 7H & had no less than 5 RISP, 2 out sits. The WSox failed to execute. Plain & simple. They did the same against CLE as well. That's why they came into this series hitting less than 200 in that sit. I guess every hit that Santana gives up is a scratch in your mind. :lol If Iggy is sent on that OBVIOUS SF it's a different game. You say the Sox failed to execute. I say Santana had a lot to do with the Sox failure to execute. You are placing blame on the Sox and I'm giving credit to a good pitcher. You can look at the that inning where the Sox failed to turn a DP on Iguchi's high throw, then Buehrle induced another DP to get out of the inning. Did the Twins fail to execute, or did Buehrle just do his job. I say it was Mark. Just like I say it was Santana that caused the Sox to fail to execute.
  20. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) Going from a night game in Minnesota to a day game in Cleveland is just bulls***. Sox-2 Indians-8 You're always a pillar of optimism.
  21. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) This is the silliest thing I've read. If the WSox send Iggy Santana is tagged for 3R, yet you want to believe he should have had a shutout. I'll tell you what let's just award Santana the Cy Young now on the basis that we are going to ignore his rough starts on account of his being nervous. I guess we didn't see the same ball game or read the same pitch-by-pitch. The WSox proved to be futile in the RISP sits as they did prior to facing Santana & didn't make him pay. I'll wait & see what he does against the rest of the league before I pencil him in as the Cy Young winner. As far as I'm concerned is head & shoulders above Santana. If he's pitching a do or die game he's going the whole game if he has to. He's not leaving after 5. Here's what I saw. I saw a team scratch out two runs against a very good pitcher. I also saw a very good pitcher step up and not allow any more. It's as simple as that. It's a man throwing a ball so as the man with the bat cannot hit it solidly. Pure baseball. You don't have to look at stats or situational averages. It's just baseball.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) I think you need to take your own advice, since I knew you were joking with me and I was joking back about your being single. That thought crossed my mind. Either way, we've clarified things now and all is cool.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) There are plenty of teams I can't stand because of their fans. Duke Basketball, Kansas basketball, ND football, Red Sox baseball, Red Wings hockey just to name a few. I'm disappointed, SS2k5. I thought you'd be able to see that post for what it was.

  25. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) I think the royals are the other team thats gonna be right there at the end. I agree. The Royals will be right there at the end .... of the standings.
